No idea he lost a son in WW2. It makes you look at these guys in a different way knowing how hard their lives were. What an incredible read - nice work pal as always.

Thank you ChiTown, I’m glad you enjoyed this piece.

As you noted, I tried to research and include a lot of little known personal facts and historical minutia about Dominick Nuccio that I felt readers would enjoy.

Whats your evidence regarding Nuccio allegedly being involved in the O'Banion hit? To me it sounds far-fetched...

Re: Chicago "Outfit" Assassin "Little Libby" Nuccio - 03/09/24 02:47 PM

TD, if you reread the entirely bio again, you'll see that we didn't say O'Banion did it. To the contrary, we only wrote that he was hauled in by the Chicago PD for questioning in regards to the O'Banion homicide.

For that matter, over the years he was questioned about numerous murders. Many hoodlums are. But that doesn't mean they actually were involved in those homicides. It only shows that the cops felt questioning those men may help in their investigation. Understand what I'm saying?

There is a very big difference between saying " he was questioned about a murder," as opposed to "he committed the murder."

This is you right?! "One of his suspected murder victims was Irish mob boss Dion (Dean) O’Bannion, who had been murdered in 1924. " lol stop splitting hairs

Then whats the evidence regarding your statement about Nuccio allegedly being "One of The Outfit’s Most Deadly Assassins"??? There were also other guys who were questioned regarding those same hits but that doesnt make them "most deadly assassins" lol common....

Re: Chicago "Outfit" Assassin "Little Libby" Nuccio - 03/09/24 03:01 PM

Here's the complete paragraph:

"On July 13, 1948, the Chicago American, a local Chicago newspaper wrote a damning article about Nuccio stating he had been brought in and interrogated as a murder suspect on numerous occasions. He had been questioned as a suspect in no less than eight gangland slayings up to that point in time. One of his suspected murder victims was Irish mob boss Dion (Dean) O’Banion, who had been murdered in 1924."

He was suspected. The story was about Dominick Nuccio...not numerous other guys. Just stop.

TD, readers are free to interpret the story as they like. But this is how I, the researcher and author, chose to compose and write it.

That said, I do hope that you otherwise enjoyed the Nuccio story in general (aside from the few discrepancies you may have.)

Stop what Liz? I just asked for evidence regarding that "most deadly assassin" statement. Nothing more. Maybe its a myth?! who knows...

@NYM yes it was a good article but still, its my right to ask....

So, just being a suspect makes a guy one of the "most deadly assassins" in the eyes of the readers?! Hmmm...ok, thanks for clearing that up. (this is embarrassing)

And I agree Chitown. We only get to read about these fellas through the eyes and perspective of law enforcement and what newspapers write about them. But they, like all of us, are human beings, with their own personal heartaches and tragedies. Some more than others, of course. I'm not saying that a lot of them are going to receive the Mother Theresa Award any time soon. Lol. But I'm sure Nuccio was greatly affected by the tragic death of his 19 year old son, as well as the loss of his wife at such a young age. No doubt these events took a heavy toll on him.

Nuccio would make a great video and since a Chicago bio was on my MFC schedule anyway, this one fits the bill. It's a great story, especially because I didn't think there was a lot of info on the guy....who knew...

Detroit family was one of the originals !

Former Attorney General John N. Mitchell described Mr. Zerilli in 1969 as a member of the Mafia's top national leadership, along with Carlo Gambino, Joseph Colombo and Paul Sciacca.

As many of you know, I've been quite busy since my mom died a couple weeks ago (and not going to end any time soon,) so I haven't been able to put up a new episode of Mob Fireside Chat....BUT this coming week...I'm going to be putting together a video on none other than Dominick Nuccio...you know, "the hitman who wasn't hitman." We've had so many requests to make this into a video, and because it was such a popular FREE article on our Button Guys website, I thought it would definitely be a good one to do.

It's also kind of fitting since I'm going to be moving to the same area where Nuccio lived which was also Ross Prio's old stomping grounds. Definitely looking forward to exploring all that history IN PERSON.

So, watch for that video this coming week.

BTW, here's the link again for those of you who'd like to read the article: https://thenewyorkmafia.com/chicago-outfit-assassin-little-libby-nuccio/

Thats a good choice, MS. I thought you were gonna do that Bonanno guy we discussed. You surprised me. Lol

But they've been asking, so I'm sure our many Chicago subscribers will also be happily surprised to see you produce this YouTube video on Nuccio.

What's most interesting about Nuccio is that I had asked a "Chicago expert" about it and was told there wasn't enough information about the guy for an article. So, I was quite surprised when TOG came back with the lengthy, detailed, and excellent article he did.

So, again, if you haven't checked it out, please do. The link is above and watch the video coming out next week.

Thats correct, MS.

The ”Chicago expert" claimed there was not enough background info available to compose a worthwhile biography on Dominick Nuccio. Yet, we accomplished it with flying colors. So It appears, after all is said and done, that the “Chicago expert” may not be the expert he'd like everyone to think he is after all.
