Would you be scared of a mobster from say.. KC?

Say you were out to eat having a drink by the bar in Kansas City. You are there enjoying yourself when a guy bumps into you.

You then proceed to say "How about an excuse me? Can you please respect my space, I'd appreciate it."

The guy then says to you " Who da fuck are you? Don't fuck with me motherfucker, I am with the CIVELLAS. I am known all over this fucking city!!"

Same thing as the dumb fuck who told the people out in New York he was a Gambino.

Would you take him seriously or laugh in his fucking face?

I would try not to laugh, but I would tell him that I wasn't aware of his mafia status and that I'm humbly sorry. Then I would send a bottle of Dom Perignon over to his table with a note that says "I loved The Godfather!"

Any SOLID proof that he actually said that? Just like, is there any SOLID proof that Joe Lanni actually said what someone who obviously has it out for Lanni, even if for understandable reasons, said he said?

To answer your question, I wouldn't be scared of any mobsters in today's age, until they can show that they once again have what it takes to kill, like actually MURDER, again and NOT FLIP afterwards. I'm not talking about beatings and smackings, I'm talking about actually killing. Because that's what it takes to have true respect and fear, and the mob no longer has either.

LCN is a joke. Just look at Joe Lanni, a captain for crying out loud, in the Gambino Family, we're talking about one of the preeminent Mafia families in America! If the Gambinos have sunk this low, just imagine some of the other remaining Families. Anyway, guy gets caught on camera buying gasoline at a gas station, AFTER he just threatened to burn someone's restaurant down! Stupid shit like this doesn't strike fear. What strikes fear is the victims being found somewhere a month or two later, or better yet not seen or heard from ever again. Word gets around town about what happened, but no one can prove anything. Then the next time Lanni's in this situation, business owners think TWICE before kicking him out and he can behave however the fuck he wants. But those days are over, it's all weak now.

For people who don't know any better, it's hard to imagine the fear and terror these guys once had. Especially after watching a scrawny Joe Lanni, this "powerful Mafia capo," running through a convenience store with a gas can the handle of which is probably bigger than his puny arms. Captains used to be like mini-dons, sitting back and letting their minions do shit like that. And what could possibly be left of Kansas City? If the mighty Gambinos are in the slump they're in, can you imagine Kansas City?

Mini-dons? C'mon! Along rich capos there always be blue collar capos with a bunch of brokesters under them. If Ianni did it,this means that had nobody for do it.

There's more to my definition of dons and mini-dons than just money Furio, I wasn't talking about money or wealth at all. My point was that you wouldn't have seen a Gambino captain behaving that way in 1953, or maybe not even 1993.

The whole purpose of being a captain is telling your soldiers to go get the gas and burn the place down, and preferably soldiers and/or associates who weren't at the restaurant that night.

If I knew for sure it was deliberate because there was no spaces and he thinks he's so important that he could just push people around to get by with no "Excuse me" I might say "Oh Excuse me,Its the king. And wave him by me and say Go ahead King"
If he bumped into me deliberately just to start trouble,I'd say nothing and wait for his next move.
But I don't think mentioning the Gambinos or anybody ellse would be a factor in however I'd react
In other words,if it came down to a fight,and I was able to beat him up,I wouldn't lose sleep worrying about the Gambinos going to avenge him for some stupid fight that he went out of his way to start. Maybe I shouldn't these days,but I'd think the guys at the top are still smart enough to not want to get involved in things like that..If I started the whole thing and he got beaten,then if I believed he was a Gambino,I'd worrry.

if a mobster in KC ever said that to me or threatened me, I would immediately call my 12 year old daughter and have her and her friends take care of it. unless of course I suffered a heart attack by laughing too hard.

Seriously regardless of the size of the town or the name of the mob,whether its the mafia in KC or the klan in Huntsville,if they have the cops,judges,and other politicians in their control,they can get away with a lot.

This actually makes the 3rd time a mobster recently made LCN look like a joke. The other two episodes as we already know involves Anthony Romanello and Joseph Lanni.

Everyday could be the day,the world is full of idiots.Like those who in Naples to celebrate New Year's Eve, shoot into the air and kill people. It happens every year.

I would be more worried about someone that says nothing and gives you the deadly stare; than someone who has to advertise out loud who he is.
In other words, it is the quiet ones you need to worry about.

He's already made himself a prime suspect should anything happen. There have been guys who really meant what they said though, but they were serious killers. The Mafia no longer has those.
