Merlino New Podcast - 10/20/23 04:06 AM

This one is good, the first 15 minutes alone contain more information and tidbits than alll his previous ones combined. He discusses an old case, a cop with a grudge, his attorney, and even Chris Christie's name comes up, Kleenex tissue and golf are key to a story.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/21/23 04:14 AM

I think Al the Lid is a neighborhood person they know. Not a mobster as far as I can gather. I finished watching it on a tv set, it was great. The part with the co host's father was funny, did anyone catch that food his mother had cooking? I got hungry looking at it.

Merlino's idea of how to raise funds for raising medical funds "I'll rob another armored truck" was funny, The case with the cop in the beginning was very interesting. The cop lied, got caught, and got away without being charged. He really had an obsession with Merlino.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/23/23 01:57 PM

Did any of you see Joey at the Eagles game, it seems as though he is running for mayor. The guy stopped and took pics with dozens of people and he is hanging out with his neighborhood friends as well as Hollywood actors last night during the tailgate and they all look to be having a great time. I am guessing he will be doing the same at the Phillies game tonight. The way he is out front and doing the podcast, which is the best and very entertaining, seems that he is out of the game now. There are legal ways to make WAY more money through the podcasts, etc to possibly helping with a movie to tv series. And with this exposure he is getting more power and access to different vessels to make $$. The European and Asian organized crime people are so more far advanced in terms of making money with the various white collar crimes they are involved with than the US Mafia, Joey has a successful enterprise in this genre with his podcast and the way he delivers it in a Crazy Joe Gallo kind of way

You are right about him making money legally., one difference on the crime is that Asian and most European groups get no where near the scrutiny and effort against them than a person like Merlino. I know he said he would put the tailgate on his channel, I have not seen it yet.

Absolutely agree on the Foreign organized groups & they basically go around silently, stealing credit card numbers, property theft, identity theft, stocks, etc, they are silent assassins, and they can get the big $$ from white collar crimes to then use the internet for drugs, trafficking's whatever

Contrary to what some say or hope, Merlino is done with the life. He can now make money legitimately.
Of course Cicale is jealous as a mother fucker.
Borello actually said Merlino was’nt a true gangater? What !!! Borello is borderline retarded so his 12 year old antics shouldn’t be a surprise.

If he’s lucky nobody flips on stuff where the statute of limitations isn’t up and he won’t waste another minute of his life in a cell.

i agree with Lenox....i do like Borrello tho hes a go getter...but that short trigger he has can be a liability......way more people to talk about then Merlino tho....the way he talked about Philly as a whole tjo kills me....goin after Joey to me your goin after Dom, Stevie, Georgie, Mousie, guys whose history sure far passes Borrello....but again hes rite about Mancuso and Spirito together....nobody is gonna take anything from them.

Well said, Joey will always carry the respect he has earned from his life and what he has allegedly done and proven to have done and serving his time in the feds hotels. It will be super funny and sad if the feds come after Joey, while he is doing legitimate things that he is involved in for not reporting a venmo transaction or some really petty just so they can try and take him down, similar to what states and prosecutors are doing to 45 now. Borello seems like he needs to get off the meth and stop taking selfies of himself; really think that Joey is going to get some type of streaming reality show in the future, the guy is pretty entertaining

Merlino could literally get his ass kicked by every YouTube rat, and I would still consider him to be tougher because he's not a rat like them lol.

I listened to the podcast where Borello says that Joey and Philly are nothing; Borello better keep his head on a swivel, those philly guys are loyal neighborhood soldiers and will pull some of borrellos finger nails out their sockets if he keeps up his crap

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/27/23 04:00 AM

The new one is out. It starts with footage of their tailgate party at the Eagles game. Then it gets -----him and Angelo Lutz are showing how they cooked in prison. Merlino has one construction boot with an upside down iron in it, one white he is cooking a grilled cheese sandwich. On the side he is using a tuna can lid, bent in half, to cut garlic. No, I am not kidding. Angelo Lutz is instruction him what to do, Merlino is calling him fat. Lutz explains that in prison you cannot have a knife, so you use a tuna lid. He then demonstrates how to bend the lid for use as a cutting utensil. Merlino is trying to slip the garlic, Lutz keeps telling him to hurry up, and I look at Merlino as I think of him a s the Philly mob boss.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/27/23 03:23 PM

He seems to b e mixed up on who the rats are. He does not seem to know all their names, I can't blame him. He talks of one being locked up again for abusing a girl, then seems to say it was Cicale. I have to look at it again, it gets a little sloppy after the first half. The 90 year old lady as a guest was unusual to put it mildly. She was a character, but too hyped up. Good for her at her age to have all that energy.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/28/23 12:21 AM

If he can't tell you who all the rats are, especially after getting into podcasting, then he REALLY REALLY needs to stay out of the business of crime.

As I said, he seemed to be mixed up, he may have had them right, What threw me off besides the sound quality (They need help there) was his seeming to say Cicale was the one arrested, not Borello. I can't blame anyone for getting confused with so many rats out there, doing podcasts and the ones keeping low profiles. Did you watch it?

I'm watching it now. Joey's awesome though.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/28/23 01:22 AM

So I just finished it. Yeah Merlino has Gene Borrello and Dom Cicale mixed up. I take it he never met those two. Now I'm wondering if Philly ever had much dealings with the Bonannos the way they have with some of the other 5 Families.
Posted By: jace

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/28/23 03:14 PM

I don't think hey had many dealings with each other, a few here and there. Merlino is bringing out very strange guests, that lady Dolly! I did not get her at all, but quite a few people in the comments section under his video liked her.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/28/23 04:55 PM

In a lot of ways Joey carries himself like a regular guy from South Philly. I think that’s one of the things people find so endearing about him. I don’t know if he was always like that or if it came with age and a lot of time in the can. I never met him but know people who are close to him and EVERYBODY I know loves him. His biggest mistakes seem to be when he brings people around that aren’t from Philly. As far as I know nobody from Philly ever ratted on him other than Natale and that was different (I don’t follow this stuff as close as most of youse so I might be wrong there). I think that says a lot about how liked and respected he actually is. I take what Phil said about him with a big grain of salt too. The guy allegedly almost killed his first cousin and they obvious dislike each other a lot. Joey has got really lucky throughout the years and I’m rooting for him to hang it up and live out his life selling merch and getting paid for appearances and stuff. He put in work, took over a borgata before he was even a friend, did his time like a man, and however he wants to end his story should be up to him. Watching him make grilled cheese on an iron doesn’t take anything away from that.

PS I can’t wait for the 7 fishes. Angelo’s smelts remind me of my grandmothers when I was a kid.

I think Merlino's video's are awesome. I loved when he and Angelo were cooking " prison style'. He has every right to make legitimate money. I think the old lady named Dolly is a fixture at eagles games or someone well known in the old neighborhhod. I like the guy they call " the lid'. He is entertaining and seems like a harmless guy.
While Joey is making great video content you have the rats in NYC constantly talking about how tough they were and how everyone else are also rats. Its embarrassing.

It’s a crossover. She has her own social media fanbase. “Snuff” isn’t an idiot. He’s a successful business minded guy himself before any of this. Angelo too. They know exactly what they are doing here.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/28/23 07:28 PM

And as far as the NY ratcasters go, they are a bigger embarrassment to that life in my opinion. They focus on proving how tough they were but they all turned on their friends when facing more prison time. Joey was looking at the death penalty and 99% he would have taken the time and kept his mouth shut. John Pennisi seems like the only one who isn’t out there talking about how fuckin tough he was. Like him or not he seems to be different than the others.

Southshorekid, thanks on Dolly. I didn't know who she was. I watched it in full tonite, I had only browsed through it previously. Dolly got Merlino to laugh twice, he had never laughed once in 6 previous episodes. The first time is when she is yanking on his shirt and saying something, the second a little later as she is drinking. It was a good show, stye need some work on the sound quality.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 10/29/23 04:01 AM

I was mistaken when i said he mixed up his rats, he was referring to Borello being on Cicale's show.

Next week may be good, he is going to show how informant Natale sold drugs and was caught twice, and got off by ratting.

crazy how all of the S Philly guys are in the videos, the one of the Eagles game has basically every S philly guy in the video except Uncle Joe, Joey has to be going to at some point start making some real money on his social media platforms, some of these influencers make millions; his show is really good and whoever is the producer to come up with those things is really creative. The stories are wild too and like stated above it seems more REAL than any other podcast out there

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 11/04/23 02:43 AM

Did anyone else think Merlino lost his cool in the last one? He seemed all agitated and jittery, probably because talking about Natale got him all worked up. At times he seemed like a man who drank 5 cups of over-caffeinated coffee. It was a great episode, but I never seen him get that nervous. Great revelations on the episode, such as:

Natale claiming to the FBI that he knew where Jimmy Hoffa was buried. Merlino claims the FBI did not bother to ask him "Where?"
Also claiming he is the one who fixed the Sonny Liston fight
Natale getting beat up by a girlfriend (Before his ratting days)
Getting caught in a lie on the witness stand, revealed by a Chinese witness who testified at the trial.
Possibly the worst thing about Natale: Getting caught on a tape trying to convince his married daughter to go out with a man he was trying to swindle. Merlino points out that the daughter did not go, and says she was a nice person with a rotten father. Other stuff too, but Merlino seeming so jittery had me thrown off a bit.

Re: Merlino New Podcast - 11/04/23 11:15 PM

I would say for him to go back and think on and remember the guys that took the stand to put him away for life he probally wants to kill them. The guy is a straight up killer who would have killed any man that ratted on him or broke the mafia code.To see him talk football and sports its easy to forget where he has been and what he has done.He shot up Stanfa on the freeway broad daylight. He calmly walked in and shot Scarfo Jr in front of a crowd of people. He has been in more shootouts than Clint Eastwood has had in Hollywood.this man aint no joke.He spoke of his sister very briefly I do hope he talks about Salvie Testa one day

wink Scalish, did you see the episode where his partner showed his father screaming at the television during a horserace? I do think Merlino seemed worked up, my guess is talking about Natale got him all riled up. Regardless, the revelations about Natale were great.

Episode 10 is out, and had me laughing when his co-host asked if Joey watched television in solitary confinement. For a second you can see Merlino looking surprised. I see a few youtube viewers don't like his co host by the comments, I think he is the perfect compliment to Merlino.

Exactly. I was thinking that anyone involved with the show may become a target of the police or FBI, this guy looks like he wouldn't steal a cookie without being afraid. His and Merlino's personalities are polar opposites. It makes for a good contrast.

He is improving. He had a great start, then lagged a bit in episode 8 or 9. There were some great lines though, like the one about rats like Cicale and another on them doing easy time. Merlino mentions the prisons he was in, then says if they had been there, they "Would have been pregnant in a month!!" That shocked me, but also had me laughing.
