Why do most cartel bosses live in huts in jungle?

I've noticed that the life these guys live it's not very glamorous. Most end up living in Huts in the jungle with snakes and spiders and God knows what else.

Why then is it worth it to become a cartel boss? Living out your days like this?

Are demands expected to not be filled just because they might end up living in a jungle?

The Mexican bosses have mansions and estates all over the place protected by private armies. Airplanes a fleet of Toyotas, Landcruisers etc..

Then explain why the boss in Colombia was found living in a man made hut with dirt floors? He had been there for years.

How do you know he never ever left? Many people think that Matteo Messina Denaro never left Sicily yet there's traces of his presence in several other countries.

If the authorities are very serious about getting a boss he has to flee or lay low but most live a luxurious lifestyle.

I'm sorry, but if a boss is on the run for years, especially decades, I have a very hard time believing that they spend the entire time in their bunkers or huts or whatever. Even if that's where they're found.

The bosses have the support of the local people, they know they are bad people but they help the poor.
