Who’s alive that was made under Original bosses - 02/23/23 06:01 PM

I was wondering; Who’s alive (currently) that were made under the original bosses of the commission (1931) Lucky Luciano; Joe Bonanno; Joe Profaci; Vincent Mangano; and Gaetano Gagliano?

Are there any guys alive (retired; active; semi-retired) who are still living that was made under any of them?

Pretty sure there’s not many…. If any….

Would love responses!

Just thought of one person that is alive who was made under one of the original bosses;

Vincent Aloi (Made under Joe Profaci? In the 1950’s.

Can’t think of anyone else.

Was Bobby Manna made in the 1950’s when Frank Costello was “Acting Boss” ? Lucky was still “Official Boss” so he could technically be included.

When was Larry Dentico made? If it was under Frank Costello; You can technically say he was made under Lucky Luciano.

That I'm not positive of. I know Manna's father was a wiseguy based in Northern NJ. Thats how Bobby got his start. But when he was brought in? That I'm not sure of.

@NYMafia

Bobby I think was made in 1955 or so…, It was before Genovese took the family over….

But; Definively;

Vincent Aloi was “made” under Joe Profaci who was a original boss.

Angelo Bruno in Philadelphia wasn't part of the original Commission, of course, but he made Chickie Ciancaglini, who is now 90 but still very much alive and active.

You're basically looking at guys made in the 50s and that eliminates the Genovese, Lucchese, Gambino Families since the original Commission Bosses were out power already or dead. Vincent Aloi is probably the only guy left made from an original Commission Boss. Maybe Salvatore Marchese of the Bonanno Family and Alfonse D’Ambrosio from the Colombo Family but I'm just guessing given their age and that's only if they're still alive.

@Giacomo

Chickle Ciancaglini is definitely a old school guy; He’s the last person “Made” under Angelo Bruno. He’s actually lucky to be alive because he was “marked” for death after Angelo Bruno got murdered. NY thought he was in on the plot. He could have died in 1980; 42 years ago..

@Mafia101

Who’s Salvatore Marchese? And Alfonse D’Ambrosio?

I guess Vincent Aloi is the only person alive who was made under an original boss … unless you find out if those two guys are alive.

You’re right; Most likely everyone who was made under Gaetano Gagliano; Vincent Mangano and Lucky Luciano are dead…. Only Joe Bonanno and Joe Profaci come into play because there were still the only original bosses who held immense power and commission seat in the early 1960’s.

Marchese is a Bonanno and D'Ambrosio a Colombo. That'd really all I have on them. I've never seen their deaths confirmed or rumored but they're pushing the ahead where its more likely they're dead than alive. Marchese should be around 90 and D'Ambrosio at least 97. Could've died and no one known about it but its possible they're still chugging along somewhere.

@Mafia101

NYMafia; Do you have anything on those two guys?? Salvatore Marchese and Alfonse D’Ambrosio?

When you think about it; Joe Profaci and Joe Bonanno reign of over 30+ years is impressive; No other NY boss can claim that.

There has to be more guys out who were “Made” under Joe Profaci and Joe Bonanno in the 1950’s … besides Vincent Aloi.

Probably not the group of guys made in the 1950s before the books closed is down to maybe a dozen men nationwide and I think I'm being generous with that number.

I know you're talking about NYC but since you did say NY you can add Magaddibo to that list. He's the longest serving Boss in LCN history even though the last few years his Family was divided all recognizing their own Bosses. Magaddino never roost recognition from the Commission.

@Mafia101

I think you’re right; It’s probably less then a dozen men who were “Made” under the original (1931) bosses…Profaci; Gagliano; Bonanno; Luciano and Mangano.

I forgot about Magaddino… May be a few “Made guys under him that’s still living.

@Mafia101

We still have to include Bobby Manna and Larry Dentico…

Frank Costello was acting boss but “Lucky Luciano” was
Official boss….

Costello was the Boss.

The original bosses in 1931 may have been at the induction ceremony of the really elderly members still around
if that is what we mean by saying made by them. Anyone made before the books closed in 1957 still alive could have had an original boss at their induction. If we mean they were sponsored by an original boss, that is a tough one to know.

Luciano was boss in name only he was banned from the US, Costello was the day-to-day boss.

No Costello was Officially the Boss. There was no in name only or day to day Boss.

It was a feud between Luciano and Genovese, when they shot Costello.

Why don’t they initiate zips? More money, honour and less betrayal

They do initiate zips, but not right off the boat. It takes some time to settle in the US.

The families such as Detroit, Cleveland etc would benefit greatly. The Gambino’s have it down well with Cefalu and Frank Cali.

The Gambino's have their relatives in Palermo, Detroit in Terrasini and other nearby villages.
Cleveland I don't know.
