1984: $1 million in vinyl records, Mafia, dead cop

Anyone remember this? Not exactly clear what went on.

Also of note is that they murdered and shot a second NYC detective on a sidewalk. Never heard of that killing before. O wonder if they knew they were cops? They were following them, probably in plainclothes, when it happened.
