Occasions When Rats Were Actually Whacked

I started this thread to speak of the few times a rat was actually killed by organized crime. You can even mention murder plots as well as attempts, and even the times when someone who was wrongly thought to be a rat was killed or marked for death.

In Italy its common , in Russia too , even families get whacked. But in US , no.

Well I'm mostly talking about America, but other countries are fair game too.

Willy Boy Johnson is a good example. He was exposed as an informant during discovery for one of John Gotti’s trials and was killed shortly after by Tommy Karate.

September 20, 1952 - Eugenio "Gino" Giannini,a lucchese soldier was killed because ratted with Bureau of Narcotics against Lucky Luciano;

Louis Bombacino,a Chicago outfit soldier that call the FBI from prison awaiting trial on a robbery charge. He admitted to involvement in a large-scale bookmaking operation, was murdered in Tempe, Arizona on the morning of October 6/7, 1975 by the Chicago Outfit while hiding under the alias "Joe Nardi", Paul Schiro and Tony Amadio were suspected in the car bombing.

Richard Cain – He served as Chief Investigator for the Cook County Police Department. Cain joined the Chicago Police Department (Vice Squad) in 1956 until 1960.
On December 20, 1971, he was shot and killed on orders of the Chicago Outfit. Harry Aleman, Joey Lombardo and Frank Schweihs were suspected of killing him.

Mario Riccobene was whacked in 1993 after was kicked up from Witsec and returned in Philly.

Furio so wait a minute, you're telling me that John Biello was killed for revealing Joe Bonanno’s plot to overthrow Commission bosses? So who whacked him out, the Bonannos or Colombos? That's intriguing.

Seems like there's two theories behind Biello's murder, one saying that Joe Bonanno ordered it and another one saying that Fat Tony Salerno ordered it.

Johnny Biello was a former Luciano/Genovese capo. Joe Bonanno has no right to clip him. He's not that stupid to try. That had to come (100%) from his own crew. It always does.

The fact is that Biello was killed and Joe Colombo was made boss of the family. Why the Commission members didn't help him?

But Joe Colombo was made boss in 1963 or 1964, Johnny Biello was killed in 1967. I agree with TNYM, the vast majority of the time, made guys are only killed by their own Families. Even the myth of the Gallos taking out Albert Anastasia turned out to be just that, myth. Turns out Anastasia was actually killed by his own Family.

Ernest Rupolo, killed in 1964, his body was found in the river. He was a fringe associate, but ratted on some top people, his stories were suspect, but he did cooperate with LE.

It's ambiguous about whether they have to be made or not and whether or not they were actual rats or just suspected of being rats, so I'll just go with my gut.

A lot of people were whacked on just the potential of ratting, whether they actually ratted or not.

That reminds me of one more, Frank Bompenseiro in California. I don't know if he was actually a rat, but I believe he was suspected of informing, or maybe they just wanted an excuse to kill him.

Yes I said that even those cases count as well.

I know. It's just that he's one of the ones I wonder about.

Yeah The Demeo Crew killed a few informants as did Casso and Amuso.Another one that Casso and Amuso took out was the GArbage guys Kubecka and Barstow.The Bompenseiro hit reminds of another outfit informant that was killed.Seifert the guy Lombardo and possibly Spilotro took out.He was killed at his workplace I believe in front of his family
