Ah, those Italians huh?...

Ah, those Italians huh?... - 11/27/21 03:15 PM

They've given us pizza, mouth-watering Italian cuisine in general, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Donatello, some of the world's best wines....Oh, and Western civilization. We have a lot to thank this Southern European nation for.

So here's one more little joke I found amusing that made me smile. Hopefully some of you will too.

Do you know what Italians refer to as the 'rougher' and poor neighborhoods in the North and in Southern Italy and Sicily?

Re: Ah, those Italians huh?... - 11/27/21 05:12 PM

Frank Capra. Francis Ford Coppola of course. Fellini, Scorsese. There's tons. And why, in only that, movies?

Touch on any major advancement made by mankind through the ages;; medicine, food, government, land development, the "arts," etc., etc., etc., Italy (and all Italians by proxy) share in that rich history.

I would think and hope that ALL peoples of the world would be proud of their heritage. I know that as an Italian, I'm fiercely proud and admittedly defensive for my tribe. As it should be, no?

I have been to Venice as a child with my family, and also with my wife years later. It's a beautiful and magical "floating city on the water"

For that matter other "must sees" are Tuscany region, including of course Florence (Firenze), magical Lago di Como, the City of Rome of course, Genoa, etc. Its truly never ending in beauty and mystique.

For me, because of my heritage, all of the south also means so much to me. Napoli, Calabria, Sicily (especially Northwestern Sicily). Beauty in whichever direction you turn your head.

Re: Ah, those Italians huh?... - 11/28/21 05:28 PM

You calling people of Italian ethnicity on this forum "Greaseballs" isn't very nice, now is it Alice Cooper?

So when I saw that blaring insult (I don't know if you meant it as an insult, but it was nonetheless). I quickly took exception to that (as I should, no?), and that is why I responded the way I did in turn.

But after thinking about it, I deleted it myself because two wrongs don't make a right. Correct?

Still, I don't know in what vain you made that ethnic slur, in jest or to actually be insulting, but as I said up top. It wasn't very nice.

Fair enough. I accept what you say as innocent BS. But you gotta understand that term to us Italians is a highly charged word. It's a VERY insulting word.

Let's us not overlook the service of brave Italian Americans like Marine John Basilone, the only recipient of both the Navy Cross and the Medal of Honor in the history of the US Navy and who gave the last full measure of duty to his country when he died at the battle of Iwo Jima.

I'm sure you had as many war heroes in your family as you did Wiseguys. You're the gift that keeps on giving NYMafia and in your own words let me quote you again "I live in NYC. I know more guys than you got hair on your head and balls. I grew up with them. I got more wiseguys in my family than you can shake a stick at. And I'M TELLING YOU straight out, guys are getting buried with time today. I don't know if you've ever done even a single day in your entire life in the can, but I have. And I can tell ya straight up its no picnic."

You're the Real Deal Bro. A man's man. I don't know how YOU'RE not the Boss of one of the Five Families yet!

He was considered jerk by the FBI, and he ruined a case by leaping up on a table in a social club being raided and yelling out things that were picked up on a listening device, including them calling Castellano "The Pope" That tipped them off that there was a listening device there. The case agents could not believe what a jerk he was.

On a better note for those of you who are Italian, former cop Frank Serpico will finally be honored. It was announced today by incoming Mayor Eric Adams. Serpico helped expose the rampant out of control NYPD back in the 1970's and was ostrasized and almost killed by his fellow cops for doing so.
