My two cents worth

My two cents worth - 08/25/21 03:49 AM

I have enjoyed reading, occasionally posting, and getting an ongoing education from so many posters who bring so much great content to this board.
This is one of my favorite pastimes, and for that reason,I would like to make a respectful request to some of the posters.

I'm not going to name names, but I've noticed that there has been an increase in personal attacks, inflammatory comments, and other content that I feel has no place on this forum.
If a post is made, and someone disagrees,or has corrections,or any other pertinent facts to contribute, there's no reason that they can't be civil.

Speaking only for myself,if poster A mentions that Vinnie the Capo was in the Mozzarella Family, and poster B produces info that Vinnie was actually with the Ricotta Family, I have learned something and had an enjoyable time reading the give and take.

If however, poster B resorts to juvenile schoolyard name calling, and provides no pertinent information to support their point, then I have learned and enjoyed nothing.

Again, this is not directed to any specific poster, but I'm sure it applies to a few on this board.

Perhaps we could refrain from responding in any way to these posters, and (although the temptation may be strong) simply ignore them. Just like cutting off oxygen to smother a fire, maybe the best thing is to deprive them of the attention they need to fuel whatever issues drive them'

This is only my personal opinion, and not an attack on any particular individual. The vast majority of the people on this board continue to make it better and more interesting with every passing day,and to you all "I pledge my everlasting loyalty".
Thank you all !

Agreed 100%. Too much wasted energy for what purpose? Nobody gains anything.

Lou you are severely misinformed. There was no mozzarella family or a ricotta family. It was all the same family back in the day. They were all in the Spaghetti Family. Did you not research this?

I find this whole thread offensive, what about parmesano and reggiano? Why are they being excluded? You want the truth, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH. Back in the day we never had these problems, no one ever Ratted on each other because they were Men's men who could do a million years standing on their heads and then ask to be put in the Hole. Not like the parents basement dwelling pedophile mooks we got today.
lol lol lol

My apologies to ColonelReb. I didn't realize until this day that it was the Spaghetti Family all along.

It's okay Lou. They are often confused with the Lasagna Family

Finally somebody said it.

It's hard to understand why certain members of this board seem to be in a contest with each other. It's almost like middle school kids saying "My dad is tougher than yours".

Why can't we agree to disagree and move on.

Make Gangsterbb Great Again!

Absolutely Agree. We all have different opinions which makes fir great discussion/debating. However being civil and respectful makes discussions much better

And "Finally somebody said it" and that would be a guy from the Burg. Way to go Lou :-)

I love this site because many members understand the history of LCN and like I grew up in NYC and see it in proper context. I have been on Reddit Mafia sub and am disgusted. Most members only know Movies, Goidfellas, Sopranos and just the characters that made headlines like DeMeo, Burke, Tommy Karate and way to much focus on jerks like Alite. Any facts or knowledge contrary to Witsec people info is downvoted. What is especially disgusting is people spewing vitriol against old men like loCascio trying to get out and calling them all scumbags that should die and this shit gets upvoted smh.

Otso, don't be upset. Make a pot of Sunday Sauce, throw some of your favorite pasta, bucatini for me, have a glass of wine and enjoy your day :-)

Re: My two cents worth - 08/29/21 04:02 PM

Funny you should mention that FOH.

We are preparing to make a hearty meat sauce as well for today (with homemade meatballs, sweet pork ribs, sweet and hot sausage). One of my favorite pasta shapes is the long Fusilli which we're having today. It works perfect catching all the bits of tomatoes and meat within the sauce.

Before that (as an appetizer) my wife is preparing a large platter of stuffed Artichokes for us. I was actually surprised that she was able to find such large, full artichokes this time of year. They usually run much better in the fall and winter months.

Bon Appetito!.....enjoy!

And of course "ah salute" with a nice glass (or two) of quality Barolo wine

Enjoy your Sunday my friend!

Funny you should mention artichokes NYMafia.
There's four of us that go out for dinner 4 times a year. We generally go to Cleveland, Ohio that has some wonderful restaurants.
One of our favorites is Luca under the Viaduct, just outside of downtown. A rather high line joint with great views and better food.
My favorite appetiser is breaded artichoke stuffed with lobster and mascarpone on a bed of there fresh made marinara.
You start out with a whole loaf of brick oven baked bread. It's big round cut in quarters and looks like it's burnt but it's not, it's delish.
Their signature dish is Lobster Risotto. A large oval plate filled with their perfectly done risotto topped with a 2 lb. grilled lobster.
We take turns picking up the tab, at least a nickle or more plus tip while the other 3 bring a bottle of wine, usually more that the tab.
We are partial to Barolos, the King of Italian wines, especially when one of us is holdin' real well, brings a bottle of Gaja Sperss :-)

99% of the time if I see something stupid I just laugh and move on...But one or two posters go postal if you disagree on contradict them..Then I lose patience

Where do I send the flowers now that you've killed this thread?
Now is that stupid enough for you to just laugh at?
Otherwise, not to worry, I'm not a postal kinda' guy :-)

Lou is 100% right--and he put it politely and succinctly.
At the top of this board are warnings about flaming, trolling and other bad behavior that pollute this board and degrade our site. Our Don, Geoff, and the Mods have had to delete offensive posts and threads, and suspend or eject members time and time again.

This is the most popular board on the site. Please don't make us shut it down because of bad behavior.

There's no question that Lou is right. However, is my trying to inject a little humor here considered objectionable?
