Besides NY/NJ, what's the heaviest mafia state? - 07/09/21 06:14 PM

NY/NJ is a given. But aside from them, what in the opinion of forum members is the most heavily populated area of the USA for Cosa Nostra?

The thing about New York and New Jersey is that even today, when authentic Mafiosi want to migrate to the states, they're more than likely going to migrate to those two states. There's still a good deal of a support system for the Mafia there compared to other cities and states. I'd say that Philadelphia is up there too, even cities like Chicago and Miami. Pretty much any city with a booming economy or a lot of buzzing activity provides opportunity for the Mafia to thrive. For some reason they don't seem to like the West Coast very much, but who knows Los Angeles may have a presence.

In terms of sheer numbers the State of Florida, South Florida specifically, out guns all other cities in the United States (except NY) for the thousands of mob guys who have lived there on either a part-time or year round basis.

And in terms of diversity, no other city or place (not even NYC) even comes close to South Florida as far as the varied number of crime families from across the entire U.S. who have settled there. LE has documented over the years nearly every single borgata as having had members or associates move there. I think they tracked something like 19-20 families out of the alleged 24-25 families as having planted a flag there at one time or another.

I read an international report that indicates that Florida also contains members of the Ndrangheta, Camorra & Sicilian CN (from Sicily).

Once Vegas opened up, anyone who was anyone in the California underworld moved there. Since then, the gangs have had too much power and numbers for any mobsters to muscle them out of the drug game, leaving only gambling and vice rackets which were never really big in California. California is mostly suburban communities where everything shuts down at 10pm on weeknights. Outside of Hollywood and San Francisco, only the tourist destinations, beach areas and central downtown districts have any kind of nightlife, unlike the northeast where there's bars and cardrooms everywhere.

California never had the large Italian pools of immigrants to draw a borgata from. The pickings were slim compared to the eastern families. Thats the primary reason. And the WC lacks the "Italianate' flavor the east coast has. another reason for less of a draw

San Francisco, San Jose and Los Angeles had families at one time, with the LA family reportedly still functioning, albeit barely. So did Denver, with a crew in Pueblo. So there must have been large enough Italian populations in these regions to form families

Vegas was key in depleting the west coast mafia families. The money train moved there and anyone who was anyone moved there and began working with Chicago, Kansas City, Detroit, Cleveland etc, not just Italians but the white protestant racketeers, City Hall gang, etc. What was left of the California mafia families dabbled in the drug game but eventually just moved into legitimate business and assimilated with middle class American life.

Mafia Moon Over Miami - Part III

Our third and final installment in our series, "Moon Over Miami - The Mafia in South Florida" will be released the next few days.

It speaks directly to the subject of this thread.

Part III was created for the enjoyment of intelligent people on the forum. Not popcorns.

You created nothing, you even stole the title of the piece... your an ego maniac, who’s self esteem is so low that you can’t even handle one iota of criticism or reality for that matter...
I hate to tell you but your driving everyone away from this forum with your ego, low self esteem and delusional protection of your fellow travelers by saying the mob had nothing to do w child trafficking, rape etc etc

Re: Besides NY/NJ, what's the heaviest mafia state? - 07/11/21 05:04 PM

I'd imagine the only people who would get driven away would be "Trollers" such as yourself who add nothing constructive to any given thread or conversation, and only come on here to disrupt the interesting threads of others and attempt to start fights and dissension.

And if that's the case, then its most likely a win-win situation for all the nice people who visit here to interact in an adult fashion and add and gain new insight about organized crime.

I'm sure nobody would be upset or miss it if you chose not to post nasty and divisive comments as you do, and you just faded into oblivion. What did they loss?
