Louie "The Mooch" Eboli - 04/15/21 06:55 PM

Couple questions for you Chicago Outfit experts. Does anyone know why Louie Eboli, the son of Genovese acting boss Tommy Eboli, became a Chicago wiseguy? I've always been a little intrigued by the connections of East coast mobsters and the Midwest. Also, does anyone remember about 10-15 years ago when the FBI in Chicago said some shit like they were concerned about some Bonanno Family members operating in the Chicago area? They were trying to figure out if there was a Bonanno-Outfit alliance, and then I never heard shit about it afterwards.

Louie The Mooch was transferred because Tommy Eboli who was the Acting Underboss of the Westside was murdered...He was warned that he would be murdered if he didnt stop with the threats and plans to hit the leadership so Ebolis close friend Joey Auippa took him in and he became the Capo of the Grand Ave Crew after Joey Lombardo went away and then died a couple years later in 87

Tickle me Elmo Armante opened a strip club out in Chicago with the blessing of Chicago , there were many joint ventures in the 90s and 2000s between Chicago and the Bonnanos including the Crazy Horse Strip Club in Vegas with Johnny Green Faracis kid and Rocco Lombardo and Rick Rizzolo.....Joey Lombardo was on tape complaining about Chicago letting in NY Guys how in the old days this would have never happened....

He wanted to take revenge for his fathers killing, and rather then kill him, they arranged for him to be transferred to Chicago

Their were 4 Eboli brothers that I know of. Thomas (Tommy Ryan) of course and his brother Pasquale (Patsy Ryan). But they had two other hoodlum brothers as well; John and Ralph Eboli. The last two were never made to the best of my knowledge, nonetheless they were connected to the Genovese crew and their brothers. They lived on LI at that time.

Tommy's son Louie ended up in Chicago because if I'm not mistaken Tommy's first wife (Louie's mother) was either born or ended up in Chicago after she and Tommy split up. So their son Louie grew up in that area with his mom and was in reality a Chicagoan.

Of course he maintained a relationship with his dad also growing up and emulated him. So when the time came for him to pick a vocation, you know what direction he went in.

Tommy reached out to Tony Accardo, Sam Giancana, or whoever else he had to, and requested that they 'make' his son into their crew and place him in a safe place within the structure.

And THAT'S how the kid ended up with the Chicago mob (to the very best of my knowledge and understanding of the situation).

Gotcha. Thanks Louis. So the Bonannos had the blessing of the powers that be to conduct business. Not sure why the outfit would even entertain it. They could have run that shit themselves.

Fat Tony reached out to Chicago. He and Milwaukee Phil did alot of business together, but Phil passed away a year before, and he was able to talk to Jackie Cerone and the Buccieri brothers, Fat Tony threw his support for Frank Buccieri to represent the New York Commission families on the west coast in 1980 or 1981. Eboli lived in both Chicago and New York, and lived most of the time in New York when his father was bumped up. Its interesting in that the Eboli brothers sons of Tommy grew up in Elmwood park and knew the crew real well, especially Jackie Cerone and Joe Gagliano, but ended up in Grand Ave crew, which shows how much power Cerone had for his position at the time. But Louie also had connections to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and some other cities due to his father. One of the reasons he took over the Grand Ave crew after Joey the Clown was locked up, plus he was supposedly a big earner.

Frank Buccieri and Anthony Salerno were the biggest reason that Chicago allowed New York families to operate jointly with them, also remember that when Atlantic City allowed casinos, the midwest families claimed Las Vegas as theirs but allowed New York to keep their interests in Las Vegas but could not build anymore casinos. This rubbed alot of the east coast families the wrong way, and this was a reason for the joint operations so they could avoid major conflicts that would have disrupted business.
