VINCENZO (JIMMY DOYLE) PLUMERI - 10/01/20 03:01 AM

Thought I'd give you guys a second treat this evening and post up a guy who for me personally was one of the strongest and most respected of Tommy Brown's capo di decina for many decades.

A top garment racketeer, A top prize-fight racketeer. Jimmy was the real deal!

Enjoy!

Hi NYMafia. Says your site's under construction right now. Anyhow, supposedly Jimmy Doyle was murdered? Also his mafia.wikia page says that while in Florida he was contacted by the federal government to assist in ousting Castro. Wanted to know if anyone had more on that.

What in the hell makes you have doubts that he was murdered?

Wasn't aware of how he died. Was hoping to get information regarding it. I can't seem to find details anywhere on the internet. The article from NYMafia's site is under construction. Who killed him? Wasn't he one of the founding fathers of the garment industry rackets? Wasn't he basically retired in Florida? Would like info as to who wanted him dead.

I'm curious to know the answers to those questions myself. I doubt very seriously he strangled himself to death, though I guess anything's possible.

Sept, 1971

James Plumeri, a reputed Mafia figure known as Jimmy Doyle, was buried in St. John's Cemetery in Queens yesterday after a private, Roman Catholic funeral service. Doyle was found murdered on a Queens street Friday.
A funeral service was held at the chapel of the Scarpaci Funeral Home, at 1401 86th Street, in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, shortly after A.M. Mourners complained of attempts by television crews to take pictures.
Plumeri, who was 68 years old, was found with a plastic bag over his head and a silk necktie drawn taut around his neck on a Maspeth street. No arrests have been announced.
Identified by law enforcement agencies as a “captain” in a Mafia family once headed by the late Thomas Luchese, Plumeri had served a prison term for filing false income tax returns and had also been sentenced on bribery and kickback charges involving the pension fund of an International Brotherhood of Teamsters union.
Because of ills health, his prison term in the teamster case was suspended.

He's in Florida, basically retired. A threat to no one. Yet he's strangled to death. That wikia article says he was approached by the government to assist in removing Castro, although I'm not sure of their source.

@Oak A bit of background on Plumeri and his death can be found here. It also explains bad dynamic he later had with his nephew (Dio). I believe they were both in prison when the new Lucchese administration was being formed, they were both contenders for top spots.
