Yourself and The other Guy are amazing! Thank you for this incredible story!

It's sad to see how Sonny was locked up for all of that time for non compliance violations. By any chance, do you know if the recent prison reform bill made changes to that law? Great story about Tommy Ocera!

Thank you!

Do we know who is the new official Boss of the Colombo family since the death of Carmine Persico ?

I guess Little Allie Boy should have inherited the position but i don't see the Colombos appointing another imprisoned boss.

IMO it's gotta be Teddy Persico.. Joe Waverly is an old man. Tough stand up guy but I'd guess he is the Consigliere. Who is the boss, UB, Consigliere??? What do you guys think.? I'd say Little Allie Boy is the official Boss. Carmine never let jail deter him f I'm that position

Sorry it took so long to answer your question. From The Other Guy:

yes, to think that Sonny spent 30 years in prison of minor parole violations that collectively another man might have spent 1 or 2 years for is at the least a travesty of justice, and at its worse, the height of government corruption in and of itself (or the worse kind!).

Re: Sonny Franzese LI Regime - NYM EXCLUSIVE - 08/09/20 06:06 PM

There has been much ink spent by newsmen writing about the infamous Sonny Franzese through the later decades, but little is really known about what made Sonny Franzese, well Sonny Franzese!

This "expose" that I've painstakingly researched and written separates the myth away from the facts and quite possibly for the first time ever really provides Franzese's early history and his "grooming" into the Mafia and his subsequent rise to power. I reveal his true close associates, their underworld "deeds", and early trajectory up the underworld ladder, as opposed to just reading about a 70, 80 or 90 year old man who became a Cosa Nostra "legend".

Who was he really?? What made him the powerful force he became? and who were the men who stood shoulder to shoulder with him as he (and they) rose to power?

The story above tells the whole tale...the TRUE tale, of Sonny's life and underworld exploits!

That's a great article! I like to think I know a good writer when I see one. I'm one of those people who'd much rather read a good book than watch a movie or a TV show. You definitely got it, sir.

By the way, Sonny is one of very few wiseguys I've actually had the pleasure of seeing with my bare eyes. I remember he had a whole bunch of guys in tow, including that guy who played Phil Leotardo on The Sopranos lol

Re: Sonny Franzese LI Regime - NYM EXCLUSIVE - 08/09/20 08:43 PM

Thank you for that nice compliment Ralphie.

Yes Sonny used to like to hang around Hollywood performers and entertainers. They were well acquainted with him, and he with them.

Sonny has visited movie studios or sets during filming more than once. Most movie stars who have ever met him were "star stuck" by him. lol....instead of the other way around. He was a character and really enjoyed the exchange with them. In truth Sonny was a very personable guy. Most people who have ever met him come away really liking him (despite any prior apprehensions they may have had).

Re: Sonny Franzese LI Regime - NYM EXCLUSIVE - 08/09/20 11:58 PM

He was personable, but he was also one of the most prolific executioners in the history of that life. He truly put a lot of men to sleep. Pure hoodlum. I know a lot of guys looked up to him. John Gotti thought the world of him.

Re: Sonny Franzese LI Regime - NYM EXCLUSIVE - 08/10/20 12:07 AM

I cannot say that you are wrong. He had a singular disciple - whether it was his fitness, vitamins (which he took since the 1940s), handball, racketball, food intake (or lack thereof - he was a calorie counter), etc etc. Didn't smoke, drink, or indulge in s lot of other vices.....loved his broads though lol (loved em)

But he could also be a VERY VERY scary guy when he wanted to be. Guys would actually shit their pants when he spoke to them....literally. Just looking at them and speaking with them they've shit their pants. It's actually hysterical when you think about it

Stone killer... but also good when he wanted to be, if that makes any sense to you.

Re: Sonny Franzese LI Regime - NYM EXCLUSIVE - 08/11/20 04:06 AM

Yeah, it is really sad that the government (scum as they sometimes are) found a way to keep that piece of shit off the street. How terrible.

He could have been free on the streets, maybe teaching classes at a community college. How to murder people and cut them up 101. Intro to extortion 101, etc etc.

Nice write up, sincerely, but the guy was the worst kind of scum on this planet. He had more years than he deserved.

Frank Vincent. He and Joe pesci were entertainers back in the day and put their act on for many mafiosos in the club scene. Pesci was apparently a great singer and iirc was going to give up acting and go back to music until Raging Bull became a hit.

So Michael was always acting capo for his father? In interviews he says they were both capos so I figure he was given his own crew.

Re: Sonny Franzese LI Regime - NYM EXCLUSIVE - 08/11/20 03:15 PM

Michael is full of baloney, and that's putting it gently.... I'd believe about 20% of what you see and 10% of the words that come out of his mouth.

He acted in his fathers stead. Period! .... if it wasn't for his father Michael would have never been where he was.

As you can see when you visit our site, we are completely revamping the design and look for all pages. We are also adding and enhancing the content we already had up for many of the bios, regime stories, etc. So I'm not sure about this one per se, but it might be among over 100 that we are working on.

At some point they all go up again. Hopefully bigger and better

Michael always says he was best friends with Lil Allie Boy and Allie is his sons godfather …. Well from everything I’ve herd from the Perscio’s end was they never got along and same with the Colombo’s boys …. This is out of blood family mouths way back …. Not saying that in the beginning Allie and Michael didn’t hang and possibly got tight for a time but its not what i herd for years …. Same with Sonny and Carmine they were both bulls and you know how that goes . So some of what Michael says may have truth to it bit it was all in his head and Perscio’s were keeping himclose for Sonnys kick up .

Allie actually is his son's godfather and it's the son he never talks to. Allie is more of a father to him than Michael. At one point the Franzeses and the Persicos were very close. I'd say the truth is somewhere in the middle here. Naturally, no one wants to say they were close with a rat. The Persicos made a mistake when they trusted Michael, Greg Scarpa, Carmine Sessa and a whole bunch of other lowlifes
