Bonanno- Thomas Fiore crew is based in Florida. Vito Grimaldi, and Vito Badamo crews have interests in Florida.

Colombo- Thomas Farese crew is based in Florida. Persico and Russo crews have interests in Florida.

Gambino- Leonardo DiMaria, and Fred Massaro crews are based in Florida. Mitarotonda, Gambino, Juliano, and Cefalu crews have interests in Florida.

Genovese- No Florida crews based in Florida as far as I can tell, but they do have New York, and New Jersey crews who operate in that state. Falcetti, Leo, Parrello, Ianniello, Antico, Coppola and DeVita crews have interests in Florida.

Lucchese- Since the big shakeup a couple of years back and the murder of Mike Salerno, there has not been a Florida based crew or a split crew. Avellino, Capra, Crea, and Perna crews have interests in Florida.

Thank you! How many members are there typically in a Florida crew? Or is it like They only have interests in some gambling down there and live in new York?

Is that really a thing or just rumors? Seems Odd a small family like philly have satelite crews in both Florida and Boston

Luxurydoy, the crews based down there have 5 to 8 made members a piece including administration members if they are one and the skipper. You also have to realize that those families also have members from New York and New Jersey that own a second house in the state of Florida. When fall and winter hit the Cities, they retreat to Florida or somewhere not as cold, and back and forth when need to.

Philly does have members in Florida and Boston, Boston was a crew but in the past decade I have not seen or heard of that there is still a crew. Florida, no capo as Merlino took control of the members and associates down there, which is small, not even to warrant making a regime down there.

I think if there's real money to be made down there you will need a few made guys to protect your rackets

Never underestimate the associates in those families.

Re: Mafia In Miami - 04/13/20 01:00 PM

I do not think there are any crews in Miami per se anymore. Back in the 60s and 70s the Miami Beach/North Bay Village was a huge hotspot, but if you look at where the crews are active now, it's moved up to Broward and Palm Beach counties.

The Trafficantes had a Miami-specific crew up until the early 2000s, but even at that point a number of them lived up in Boca/Pembrooke Pines/Lauderdale area

Joey had some young guys around him down in South Florida 100%. I have never seen them in charts or mentioned on here.

The Genoveses had some business in Florida, as recently as 5 or 6 years ago

Anyone have info on Reubin Clein of Miami? He was a tabloid publisher, a personal friend of Meyer and Jake Lansky. Had a reputation for bribing judges. He was an ex-convict but have no idea what he was in for. One of his sons was a Miami lawyer who got a lot of work representing drug smugglers.

Perna’s crew members in Florida’s? I find it extremely unlikely they’re barely in existence in NJ these days.

I have a few mentions in files that he was friendly with Santo Trafficante Jr., when Santo was living primarily in Miami (1960s).

Thanks ScottD. It looks like he did some time for refusing to testify before the Senate Crime Investigating Committee, which was looking into illegal gambling. Found some other interesting stuff, such as flying a guy out from San Francisco to blow up his printing presses with dynamite. Still digging.....
