Guys being described as Old School LCN - 09/04/19 02:05 AM

I was wondering; Some guys are described as being part of the "Old School" or was "Old School LCN" What is everyone's terminology or definition of this?

You can list guys who fit this label or guys who kept their mouth shut; and followed the code of silence. I just want opinions on what other think of this term.

Ill start off by listing one guy that I think fit the label.

Mikey Salerno; Old school wise guy who operated as a powerful Bronx captain in the Lucchese's. Had close ties to the Genovese's through construction. Some of his crew ran the Lucchese's at one point and I believe Steven Crea was part of his crew. His crew was hugeeeee.. He was killed by Casso and Amuso which is a disgrace.... Mike Salerno wasn't gunna take that family over. He was nearing 70..

My definition of old school LCN is a guy who keeps his mouth shut and follows the code of honor. There's other things but would love more feedback.

Joe Ligambi often gets the label.

I think that old school guy can be described as a guy that follow the rules, keep his mouth shut and done his time in jail.
Yes this are only world but people like Al Trucchio that made 8 y but risk more as a Gambino capo given that his father get life or jerry bruno that get life at 43y and is only sn associate or the other mobster that even was young and with family didnt flipping and serve or are serving harsh sentences like Nicodemo in philly.
Or John Pappa a colombo associate that was serving life for 4 murders and for sure if he would flipped (in 1999 the feds are serching rats after wild cutolo death) he would get few years.

For me "old school" ist not only "keeps his mouth shut ". It is more to live under the radar. Not to flashy. Especially for high postition.
Frank Cali was old school, Ligambi is old school. Genovese are more or less old school.

Joe Arcuri.

Served under Vincent Mangano; Albert Anastasia. Carlo Gambino; Paul Castellano and John Gotti.

Kept his mouth shut till the end. He was close with Anastasia. Old school...

I think the thing about joe acuri was he was almost 100 percent legit. I think he controlled some pavers union in NYC but its because he used his influence to put his family and friends in control of it

Lots of old school guys didn't exactly keep a low profile. Capone, Luciano, Costello, Giancana, Richie the Boot, Roselli to name just a few were very flashy.

I like how Joe Batters bought that beautiful Manson. Then took the advice of Ricca and others because the house was too flashy and then downsized. That's old school. He listened to the voice of reason. For instance, Gotti had Frankie Loc as his consig. What was the point? He wouldn't listen to reason, he did what he wanted to do.
