Russell Mauro and the Galante hit. - 08/21/19 06:30 PM

Hi, is there any foundation with this guy being involved in the Galante hit? I've read a few times he was the primary shooter of Galante!? I've seen variations of the most likely hit squads along with the Zips but his name is never associated. Somebody politely correct me please.

No think massino and Vitale said he was the galante shooter. Seems like the real deal. He was a threat to massinos power that why i think he was killed. His own guys set him up in like a queens social club

Yep the brother was screaming at that guy big lou targlioe...... at nick santora trial a few yrs ago. He wanted lou to answer why. Think he was escorted out the court. There really hasnt been a definite answer why he was killed but thats the yr phil rusty is dying in jail with cancer and massinos in prison. So it only makes sense he was massinos only competition to succeed rustelli. Even anthony spero was already closely aligned with massino. I wanted say Mauro went back to the 3 renegade capos who tried to take over the family in 81. He was with them when they killed galante. Massino probaly felt he could take him out the sameway

@Pmac.

Was Russell Mauro a captain with tremendous power? I find it unlikely he was a threat. I'm clueless about the guy till now.

He was a legit though guy. He must have been legend in his own family as being the guy who killed galante. He survived the 3 capo murders. Im thinking hes in all the pizza connection guy wedding photos were theres a bunch of international dope kingpins and bonannos. He coasted threw the whole 80tys with out indictment and being a well known shooter. Im starting to think he was not kicking up or some shit.

I read the feds in 1985 indicted the guys who are said to have ordered the murder, Giuseppe 'Buffalo' Ganci and his brother-in-law, Salvatore 'The Baker' Catalano.

Also in '83 Sal's cousin Salvatore "Saca" Catalano (50) was shot and killed in his car, while driving his car through Glendale, Queens, by someone who was apparently in the car with him, probably at the command of his cousin Sal the Baker Catalano and his underboss Ganci, he was using heroin and became untrustworthy because of that. His killer was allegedly, Cesare Bonventre.

hollander mauro was killed in 1991? massino was still in jail and sal vitale handled all the planning and had his crew take care of it. ive recently read mauro was made a capo by rastellli in 1985. so i bet it was massino taking out a percieved threat ahead of time. he becomes boss rite after the murder. guy must have been a contender. he was a earner, a tough guy who killed galante. boss material. some one can find vitales testomony why they killed him or even massino explaination when he was on the stand against basciano

i know massino said tony mirra was killed because it was believed he was a DEA snitch. he was popped on drug charges in the late 70tys and they kinda went away or he got real little time

rastelli orderd galantes murder in 1977 when galante starts whacking guys without phils ok. galante violates parole in november 1977 goes back to prison for 18months the feds tell him his lifes in danger. hes gets out around may 1979 and is killed 2 months later.

rusty dipatched his orders to kill galante threw his trusted capos and most likely nicky glasses but hes a old man so hes not putting in work. mauro was in one of the crews and just happend to be picked. im sure its a reason why eventually rusty makes him a capo

Sal catalano was rustys street boss or acting in 1980 before the 3 capo murder so they must have had a history. Catalano and all them guys settled in queens so they must have ran with rastelli who was a queens guy or least based there

This may have been posted before, possibly even by me, but here is a brief clip of Carmine Galante talking to his lawyer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDzJB7LXUKk&feature=youtu.be&t=184

He must of been held with serious faith to be chosen to deliver the task of reading a man of Galantes calibre his last rights. Apparently a fuckin lunatic, who Massino and Vitale feared and were anticipating sooner or later him stealing there thunder. Supposed to been very close with sonny red and that faction.
