New Jersey shoulda stood up to new york in the 60s/70s and held down their territory. They could've gotten enough sympathy support not to be treated like goofies

If you with NJ mean the DeCavalcantes,at their peak in the 60s they had 60 made men while the other families nj crews had the double or triple of the men; would be a massacre.

I think Newark guys were pretty much always affiliated with the NYC families, and at least one crew from the Philly family. The DeCavalcante's traditional area was always the Peterstown section of Elizabeth.

The DeCavalcantes always had at least one crew in Brooklyn, making it more complicated. Sam DeCavalcante, either by realpolitik or subservience was always willing to do the Commission's bidding as a junior (emphasis on junior) partner. Specifically, Gambinos bidding. Later on of course the DeCavalcantes starting taking orders from the new Gambino leader. The best they could have done is partner with the families on a very important racket the way Scarfo did with the Genovese or Marcello did with Phil Kastel in New Orleans.

I remember reading how Casso casually murdered a decavalcante made guy over a drug debt. This was before Casso was made. Remember being surprised how he had no worries of revenge.

Which guy? What crew was he in? That's crazy. Casso got away with a lot. His co-workers (for lack of a better word haha) always gave him leeway and viewed him as a rising leader. Amuso had a different upgringing, he was a Gallo guy.
