Has a sitdown ever gone bad? Unresolved?

I know the Dutch Shulz and Bonventre ones did not work out so well but it seems both had a death wish by showing open disrespect?

Can anyone recall some incidents?
Maybe other families had to butt in to resolve?

Perhaps sitdowns involving Joey Gallo (his brother Larry had a bad experience), Joe Bonanno or Carmine Galante? The three captains before meeting their fate? The ambush arranged by Massino was supposed to be one. A sitdown between Merlino and Stanfa if there ever was one?

In Montreal there was reportedly a major sitdown between rival factions and people from Toronto in August or September 2011 that didn't work out.

I don't know if you'd call this a classic "sitdown," but Dominic (Sonny Black) Napolitano was called to a meeting from which he never returned after Pistone was exposed.

Some of you are missing the point

Op is not referring to planned hits ie Massino planned the murders in advance and duped them
by claiming he wanted to meet

Same goes for Sonny Black, there was NO sit down. He went and hoped things could be worked out but obviously knew things could go south which they did

Whereas OP is referring to a legit sit down
between two parties that didn’t fare well.

In 9 out of 10 cases they always resolve things at lease on the surface ie Gaspipe had to accept he could not whack Angie. So on the surface he accepted the decision but secretly he started whacking guys

U could say Chin meeting with Gotti didn’t end well since Chin lied to Gotti and most likely pretended to
make peace

What about the Gambino sit down with the Russian/or Albanians where they threatened to blow up a gas station that they were in. Early 2000s I think. That doesn’t sound like a great sit down haha

That sitdown was with the gambinos and the albanians sometime around 2001-2004. The sitdown could’ve ended up becoming a massacre but it didn’t.

It seems that most or all of the sit-downs that go wrong involve 2 different gangs getting together rather than Mafia internal sit-downs. I think that when a mafia sit-down goes wrong the person it has gone wrong for does not know till later. Usually fatally I assume.

I’m sure a lot of us have heard/read Michael Franzese tell the story of his sit down with John Gotti over a drug dealer at a flea market. Michael supposedly called his Dad Sonny in after they couldn’t resolve the issue themselves. John pulled the Moe Green line of ‘you don’t buy me out, I buy you out’.

I wonder if Franzese story is how it actually played out but whatever it’s a good story.

A sitdown went bad between Phil Alderisio and Joe Ferriola regarding rackets on the South Side in which Alderisio told to his opponent that hes going to tear him apart limb by limb while hitting the table with his fist. But in the end the conflict got solved

Also Fiore Buccieri began chocking Tony Spilotro during another sitdown

Come on Toodoped, how does the rest of that story go with Spilotro? I've been hoping for another article. It's been a while.

The man has a life, just like us all..
If it was up to me, he was put on the payroll and we who read all his articles would all donate a small contribution. He'll be something like our own Jerry Capeci.. grin

This story is brilliant and I think believable.
