Oldest LCN members - 08/01/18 03:04 AM

So besides Sonny who else is up there in their mid to late 90s? I remember seeing a few charts and there were some guys 93, 95 etc but didn't know them well.. ?

Re: Oldest LCN members - 08/01/18 09:26 AM

Sonny is an exception because most mobsters or are retired or died before arrive to 90 y. Only 2 come to mind: Bobby Manna (b.1928) but stay in prison or John Commarato (b.1924) a colombo wiseguy and former Gallo crew members but I think he is retired.

"Retired"?

I thought there was only one way to leave the life.

In a body bag.

If I was boss, I don't care if they're 37 or 97, I don't care if they're wearing a catheter, I don't care if they're legally blind, if I give them orders to bust someone up, they're going to bust someone up or they'll get busted up.

Does anybody remember that Genovese wise guy a few years back who was like nearly 100 offering to do hits? He died few years back also. The same guy was said to be a moaner who wanted more power but never got past soldier. Whoever remembers the name has a good memory because he wasn’t that big news and I can’t remember for the life of me. The name corky rings a bell but I can only think of corky vastola who obviously isn’t the guy

chinky fsomthing. he was in his 90tys but it seemed when everyone was in florida they checked in with him. he was spotted meeting al bruno and buster ardito a few months before bruno got whacked. busters phone was a roving bugg the feds picked up ardito saying chinky vollunteerd to do a hit could you imagine me and him going to do work the gun would shoot him away. somthing among them lines. the capo of all the old retired ny nj guys in florida was a rey ruggiero who fliped after he was convicted for racteering down there they gave him 12 yrs he was in his late 70tys couldnt do the time. he must have gave them alot of info he died a few yrs back i dont no if he was free i think so they resentenced him why wouldnt they but florida feds dont go along with everyhting the d.a.s say down there or i should say the judges. they break mobsters off down there always 10 or better

I wonder what they mean my still active especially for those over 70. BY 80 I think active might mean showing up to check in on occasions. Then they go home and fall asleep.

Does anyone have a picture of the Albert Gallo group member named Punchy who had his photo taken in front of what appeared to be a social club? He was asleep in a chair. I believe it was taken a year before his death.

Re: Oldest LCN members - 08/30/18 04:19 AM

Active means they are still participating in crimes. Even at 80 a guy you can be part of it.

by law enforcement standards if an 85 year old guy got caught speaking to a made guy in the street he would be considered "active"

John McCain's mother is 106 and still relatively lucid.

An 85 year old can still contribute in some way - like a Franzese or an Ianniello.

It's not like the 55 year olds are out breaking thumbs either.

Ianiello may have been still participating, but Franzeze has not for years. He was in prison for so long, and the case that sent him back was more a case of them waiting him locked up for spite. There is no evidence of him being active now.

And regarding the other guy - why would a lifelong mob guy whos that old rat? U only have a few more years just live it out in pen and die respectable and loved in your chosen profession/lifestyle.

Not that I’m condoning that lifestyle (before any busybody gets on me). Just if they live for that it’s too late to rat just as your about to die is all, just to avoid prison..

There is a photo of Illiano slumped over in the chair, with a skinny grey haired man looks like he is walking towards him as if to awaken him or straighten him up.

Jace is (pretty much) right. The crimes John Franzese were charged with in 2010 were from, at the latest, 2007, which is when John Franzese Jr. was taken off the streets when he completed his undercover work.

theres a picture of that guy punchy taking a nap somewhere on here. its not that old its in red hook or carol gradens infront of a deli i think. it was posted in gangland when he died a few yrs back. small side story vic orena swore revenge on punchy and kid blast and i think those 2 didnt get inducted into the genovese family til after orena got life. the colombos would block them everytime there names floated around. they must have killed someone close to vic cause its pissed him off. when he was acting boss he said to someone he get them back 1 day

It would be nice to hear from these guys before they die especially Sonny Franzese, Charles Panarella, Albert Gallo, Corky, Baby Shacks and few others. I thought about writing to some of the guys while they are in prison and see what they say. I don't know what it is but I always found it very fascinating about these guys the last men standing who go back to a bygone era, most of them were arrested in the 30s and 40s, the transformation to today is huge

That was when Panarella was not confined to a scooter, with an oxygen tank on back. Can you imagine The Moose chasing down someone who owes him money in that?

Re: Oldest LCN members - 09/02/18 06:33 PM

Not denying this but how do you know he died? there is absolutely nothing online about his death and the fact that we were speaking about him IN JULY makes it seem odd

also I think getting a guy in his 90s to kill someone is a great idea. The victim wouldn't suspect anything. Someone like Charles would just need a gun and when the other guy has his face turned round or something then a couple shots in the face and head. But no a 90+ guy wouldn't be able to chase a guy down for money lol obviously not

Elaborate. You seem certain that you are right. If that is the case, then surely you can furnish us with proof?

And in the future Moe, do not have your friend pm me and try to get me to back down on you.

How did you prove your statement to be correct? You said the Feds locked him up for spite, without providing any evidence whatsoever.

I could say I have a sixpack and look like Brad Pitt. It doesn't mean it's true.

Or, you have offended several regular posters on the forum with your blatant trolling, inability to back up statements, and latent homophobia.

I'm not the only poster you have an issue with.

I sense a pattern..

You mentioned yourself that there are numerous posters complaining about you in private messages. You seem to enjoy causing disruption to the forum?

You do know private messages are supposed to be private, right?

Wrong again, or lying. I mentioned one persons and kept their name and what was said private. The problem is you, don't deflect things.

SC, will you at least tell me if my comment here on Gene Gotti coming home after 30 years in prison was wrong? HIs saying. it was out of line is what started this on another thread.

"Culture shock might kill him. 30 years away is a long time. The Ravenite is long gone, I think it may have been gone when he went away to prison. Ozone Park is totally different and even his neighbors will have died or moved away. His family has changed, many have probably died. If he goes to Mulberry Street I would think he won't recognize most of it anymore due to changes. He went away when cell phones were a new thing and cameras were not everywhere. It will take him a few months just to get used to society as it is now. When he sees two men pushing a stroller with a baby in it, and asks who the father is and gets "We both are" as a response, followed by the two men kissing and walking on, he may faint. He'll need a relative to show him around his first times out of the house."

I feel it was a fair comment, he called me homophobic. If you say it was out of line, I will apologize.

Re: Oldest LCN members - 09/06/18 05:56 PM

Well don't know if my opinion mean any matters to you guys but I'll step in and say that in my opinion you weren't homophobic at all jace
I don't know if I should refer to you as a she or he (I have a feeling you are a woman so)
But I can't see why someone should get offended by it,
And I understand what you have said.
That was okay and it's normal that after 30 years in jail you will be shocked from all the changes that went in the world.
and by the way moe you know I love your posts you are one of my favorites members here so it's not that I'm taking any side here in this debate/argument between you guys.
Just wanted to say my opinion.

also I think getting a guy in his 90s to kill someone is a great idea. The victim wouldn't suspect anything. Someone like Charles would just need a gun and when the other guy has his face turned round or something then a couple shots in the face and head. But no a 90+ guy wouldn't be able to chase a guy down for money lol obviously not

Gang Land News wrote an obituary on him.

Another one down I guess

Who is this Charles that gang land news made an obituary?

Based on the Gottis' photos from the 70s, I think they'd adapt to gay culture just fine.

Re: Oldest LCN members - 09/08/18 02:50 PM

Charlie "Moose" Panarella was talked about in the Donnie Brasco book and he's still alive.

Donnie Brasco said that Moose Panarella was a mean guy and a high ranking capo in the Colombo family. Interesting.

We should do a canvas of neighborhoods in NYC and ask people who they would rather have as a neighbor: a heroin dealing criminal or a gay couple.

Anyone see the documentary about living celebrities over 90? It's called "If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast". As Tony Soprano would say, "Itsh goot".

Dick Van Dyke has more energy than I do.

Dentico was between the last inductions in 1950s. He is a Genovese made man so was made under Genovese.

This Luciano question. He went to jail in 36 and deported in 46. How many guys did he make? Did he appoint anyone from the time he went away? Plus he was on the lam for a while before he went to court.

Let's stick to ' earlier ' bosses.

If NYC closed the books circa 57' , there must of been a few guys made in their 20s/ 30s. So born just under a hundred years ago . There has to be a few still living ( not active I'd presume).

Manna is one.

I'd imagine guys made by Aiuppa/ Giancana/ Bruno still around

Re: Oldest LCN members - 05/09/23 04:22 PM

@Captbony1999 and dsd

The only person who’s still alive that was made under an original commission boss would have to be Vincent Aloi; He was made by Joe Profaci in the 1950’s. He’s still alive …

@dsd

Chickie Ciangalini is still alive. He’s at least 90 years old; He was 1/2 of the last made by Angelo Bruno in the 1970’s. Frank Sindone also but he’s dead.

But I believe Vincent Aloi is the last made under a original NY commission boss.

There may be 1 or 2 guys (inactive) who were made under Joe Bonanno due to him being the only other original commission besides Profaci who was still the boss in the 1950’s.

Re: Oldest LCN members - 05/10/23 12:37 PM

@Captainbony1999

I have no idea…

Vincent Aloi is the last “made” under an original (1931) boss who’s still alive..

I may be wrong but he’s the most high profiled.

We went over this a few weeks ago in the other post. You're going to get the same answers since nothing has changed.

Chickie Ciancaglini died in March.
