The average salary in Venezuela is 20 dollars?! How easy do you think it is for a powerhouse like the Ndrangheta or Sinaloa Cartel to buy everyone in there including the president? I mean , you give the millitary a salary of 4-500 dollars a month and they are at your service , maybe? i dont know how it is there.

You are correct their economic situation makes them vulnerable for corruption.
The mafia has been operating there for decades prior to the regime take over. They now gone from bad to worse making corruption rampant in all levels of society including government.

It´s not a cartel like in the past, but groups inside Venezuela's military that traffic cocaine.
Even the dutch military is involved,
DRUGS FOUND IN MILITARY BARRACKS IN DOORN
By Janene Pieters on July 18, 2018 - 11:30
Sixteen sports bags full of drugs were discovered in a material container on the terrain of the Van Braam Houckgeest barracks in Doorn on Tuesday. It involved dozens of kilograms of what seems to be cocaine, the Koninklijke Marechausssee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military, said on Twitter.
The drugs were sent to the Netherlands Forensic Institution for testing.
Soldiers who had been on Sint Maarten to provide support after Hurricane Irma found the drugs, a spokesperson for Defense said to NOS. The container came from the island. The soldiers say they did not know the container had drugs in it.
Venezuela really seems to be a major hub for the cocaine trade. Aside from corruption in the military I don't really think it's native Venezuelans doing the big time trafficking. It's more groups with roots in Italy and Colombia that set up shop and work in schemes behind the curtains.

Most of cocaine via the Suriname and Dutch Caribbean routes to Europe comes from Venezuela.
Yeah it's a huge hub. There's gangs from Curaçao sourcing that stuff in Venezuela and smuggling it right into Rotterdam. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The role of Suriname as an export country for cocaine is increasing enormously. In Rotterdam, but also other European countries are seeing a boom in cocaine from Suriname. Not suprising when a former military leader and convicted drug trafficker is the President of the country.

Yes you are correct. The Caruana,Cuntrera & Rizzuto clans have been operating there for decades.
In the early 2000s the sicilian mafia were introduced by Frank Cali to a drug trafficker in Miami, since then they pay 5000 euro for a kilo directly from Venezuela.

Do the Sicilians still have a stronghold in Venezuela? At one time the media made it seem like they were the most powerful people in the country.
