Joseph Massino movie - 07/09/18 02:22 AM

In my opinion, joe massino had an incredibly interesting career as a mobster. I think that it would def be Hollywood- worthy. If someone was to make a film on massino, who would u think would be best fit to play massino and some other mobsters like sal vitale, anthony graziano, phillip rastelli, george sciascia, vinny basciano, and frank lino?

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/09/18 03:05 AM

I don't see him as that interesting. He rarely even gets discussed all that much on here. He is known, but I can't see a movie on him as all that interesting. Sorry.

Paul ricca or tony accardo should be the next mob biopic

Accardo interests me. He was supposedly close to Capone, and bridged a gap in time periods.

I think he's interesting too. He's a guy who goes back to the 70s and associated with the guys who were there in the 30s. He held power before the John Gotti days and very few are as young as he is

I know also a good title for the biopic ie "the big rat".

I'm joking. "The Big Rat" would be a great title, very fitting. If he didn't give up so many people maybe he would have a film and be a hero

A Joey Merlino movie would be beyond interesting but that story has not ended yet....

They would probably turn a Joey Merlino flick into a common Brooklyn movie / Gotti with the main character trying to convince us that he's tough and likes to smoke cigars

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/09/18 02:03 PM

If james gandolfini and frank vincent were alive id say james would be fit to play massino and frank would be good to play george sciascia.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/10/18 01:57 AM

Now that he's dead, I've always hoped for a Scarfo movie but a lot of those guys from that era are also still on the streets. So many plots/sub-plots from Philly in the 80s.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/10/18 02:57 AM

Massino had a long and interesting career in the mob in my opinion. I'm waiting for the prick to come out with a book. But it's too long for a movie. You've got his early days, Galante, three capos, on the lam, prison, being the boss, downfall, trials, turning rat and testifying. Mini-series would be better. Michael Chiklis is the first person that comes to mind.

And Philly is just begging for a mini-series. So much drama and action.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/10/18 05:04 PM

First thing I have to say is how could anybody want to get hooked up with a movie when they supposedly live the mob life? Gotti Jr. is a documented rat so we can understand his position. money always comes before honor and loyalty today. Anyway this Robert Deniro is a rat himself. A few years back he wore a wire to trap a guy who was trying to shake him down. Just look it up and you will see for yourself. So why would you want to get involved with Deniro when he's a rat himself. This Joey Merlino is a money hungry guy from all I read. But he does not deal with rats from what many have said. So now is he going to turn a blind eye to Deniro??? I think he also is going to be sentenced in September. Unless a new round of indictments get him caught up. Will be ready to see all that weather the storm

you answered your questions.

Massino was to boring..not enough flash for a movie.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/11/18 07:11 PM

IIRC the book made him seem reasonably sharp and charismatic; there were some entertaining cat and mouse stories about the feds chasing him when he was coming up.

None of the carefully rehearsed shit Gotti did to get "his public" behind him.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 07/13/18 04:16 AM

Ricca and Accardo were too secretive. Nobody alive today knew them. Very few people knew them when they were alive. Cubs announcer Harry Caray was supposedly friends with Accardo, but I doubt he would have talked about him. He knew what was up. Got to have source material to get a good movie. That's where it all starts.

Goodfellas was all Henry Hill.

Casino was mostly Frank Cullotta, because Lefty was holding a bunch of things back. He never admits he was with the Outfit. Dreamed of getting out of that black book someday. Never happened.

How is he still alive? He's 76 years old, morbidly obese and had uncontrolled diabetes. Scientists need to study him.

Michael Mann is working with Don Winslow on a novel about Accardo and Giancana, the idea is to bring it to the big screen later. Mann has acces to a lot of info provided by Tony´s family.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 05/06/19 03:16 PM

I see how it "could" be interesting, especially from the perspective of Joe having to rebuild the Bonnanos, and get them back on the right path. I would think that this is no easy task, and he did seemingly succeed before it all fell through at the end. Not sure how many other times in American Mafia history did a family have to rebuild to that degree.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 05/07/19 02:44 PM

i hope this i heard you paint houses isnt a dud. think netflix spent 100mill. i think the mafia movie genre is done. you cant write anything original anymore. give me a check or donate it to the board boss if the make a movie on the mafia cops. i wouldnt even know how the angle would go and it probaly be dumb. but the mafia cops could make a good movie but at the end all they did all them hits for was money. so it probaly be no story to it. just some greedy cunts

I don't see Massino being interesting enough. Now Raymond on the other hand......

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 05/07/19 06:53 PM

A movie about Chin, Manna and the others who truly wanted Gotti gone after he took out Castellano would be good. It would nice to get the true story from the other side of things. Good luck getting Bobby to talk though, you have a better chance of bringing Chin back from the dead.

Went with my girl a few years back to see blackmass the johnny depp whitey movie. Visually it was great but the script was dumb. Some books just cant be turned into a 2 hr film. Better off being a hbo mini series

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 05/07/19 09:25 PM

They should do something like Sopranos a weekly thing formthe early 70’s to now with all the players because they know the facts and they know enough to make it right ..

Because they will have from 70’s up to now they will have tons of factual material and 50 and 60-year-old people all the way down to teenagers will know the players because they grew up hearing the names even young guns they hear the rappers saying these guys names .

Just my two cents but I always thought Danny DeVito would be a great Carmine Galante and a movie about Galante could be really great

Must I say it again.....A Movie based on the book " Blood & Honor"..maybe w/ Giovanni Ribisi as the Crow..Joe Peschi as Little Nicky Scarfo..& I'm sure Hollywood can find some good looking dudes 4 Salvie & Phil Leonetti...it would b an awesome screenplay.

You've never seen 10th & Wolf? Ribisi plays Merlino, and some zip actor played Stanfa. Wasnt based on Blood & Honor (possibly the best mob book of all time) and the acting was kinda weak but..yea 10th & Wolf

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 05/09/19 12:06 PM

I'd like to see a movie on my area Springfield Massachusetts, it could cover 3 eras: the Scibelli era, to when Adolfo Bruno took the reigns, to when he fell out of favor with New York and his protege Arillotta began plotting against him and the string of killings and other events during that time. Freddy Geas was convicted of the murder of Al Bruno then went on to allegedly kill Whitey Bulger. The story from pretty much every angle is as interesting as it gets, especially for people in the Springfield area

I think they should all have a movie..... the real question is who should make the flick and casting.

Put that together and you got a good movie.

How is not anyone casting the guy who played Gip Roselli in any Mob movie.

Re: Joseph Massino movie - 05/11/19 03:26 PM

Is anyone else surprised we haven't seen pictures of him popping up like what happened with Vinny Ocean a few years ago?

I mean, Massino weighs like 400 lbs, he's easy to spot. I figured pictures would surface eventually

He probably ly spends most of the day in bed. He weighs like 400 pounds and is a serious diabetic doubt he moves around much.

I sincerely doubt he saw Massino. I've listened to enough Joe Rogan podcasts to know that Diaz has a habit of embellishing stories.

Yea if they took the movie seriously with great actors I agree, it would be a great movie IMHO. It just begs of a good drama like The Departed was with the dirty cops killing one of their own (and more) at the end. I know Scarpa's handler didn't kill anyone per say, but other mafia members dying including Scarpa's brother just begs of good stuff movie wise.

Most interesting would be a film/series about Chicago during the 70s, 80s, or early 90s. The Outfit LCN culture was so different & unique from it's east coast counterparts. Perhaps a piece on Joe Lombardo, or Angelo LaPietra, etc.
