Re: Russian Mafia - 02/24/18 12:22 AM

The “Red/Russian Mafiya” is political correctness for what is more accurately the Jewish/Israeli Mafiya that came out of Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union.
At least the Mafiya kingpins —Semion Mogilevich, Monya Elson, Marat Balagula, Vyacheslav Ivankov, Vladimir Ginsberg and Ludwig Fainberg—are Jewish.

Robert Friedman 1951-2002, RIP

The seminal book on this topic was part of my awakening and is called Red Mafiya, by Robert Friedman. The courageous author, who was Jewish, paid for his work with his life, RIP.
Starting in the 1970s and accelerating after the fall of the Soviet Union, thousands of these “Russian” thugs somehow were let into America with the greatest of ease.

“The understaffed and ill-equipped Immigration Service,” Robert Friedman reveals, “seemed helpless to stop them.”
Hundreds of former Soviet athletes and Special Forces veterans of the Afghanistan wars, including many retired KGB agents, swarmed into America. It is estimated that 500,000 to 750,000 Russian Jews came in. The FBI at the time called them far more lethal and dangerous than Italian Mafia ever were.

“The ‘Russians’ didn’t come here to enjoy the American dream,” New York state tax agent Roger Berger said glumly.” They came here to steal it.”
Many “Russian” criminals ended up at Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. They were at once put on retainers of $20,000 a month. No jobs as janitors or road sweepers for them! Like ducks to water, they took to sex trafficking, prostitution, pornography, drug running, loan sharking, stock market scams, arson, burglary, bank and jewelry frauds, counterfeiting, vote rigging, arms sales, extortion and murder.

At this stage, the Red Mafiya is second generation and, as such, are more Americanized. Many are dual Israeli citizens. It has morphed into what I call (at least in part) the Crime Syndicate. Red Mafiya was folded into this. They have formed powerful associations with other non-Jewish crime and intelligence connected families, such as the Bushes and Clintons. They can lurk under slimy rocks, because the ZOG media is either involved or looks the other way as well.

Besides the standard criminality, I believe they are now also involved in more legitimate military-industrial complex and surveillance “neocon” contracts. They play a key role in various hoaxes and fundraising scams off of these hoaxes.

Exactly, people like to play up the russian mafia for some reason. Sure they are powerful in their home country, but what mafia isn't? Italians crazy powerful in Italy, mexicans in Mexico, and so on. But when you can survive and thrive in a country with tough law enforcement and not your ancestral homeland, then it's a true showcase of their power. And the Russians or other eastern European crime in the usa can't come close to la Cosa nostra in the usa, and there's no valid proof to prove otherwise.

there were several russian and east european immigrants in the states also at the beginning of 1900s, but russian mafia didn't exist at that time, it started at the ending of 1970s (there were thieves in law before but limited to prison system)

Mogilevich is believed to direct a vast criminal empire and is described by the FBI as “the most dangerous mobster in the world.” He has been accused by the FBI of “weapons trafficking, contract murders, extortion, drug trafficking, and prostitution on an international scale.”

Mogilevich’s nicknames include “Don Semyon” and “The Brainy Don” (because of his business acumen). According to US diplomatic cables, he is said to control RosUkrEnergo, a company actively involved in Russia–Ukraine gas disputes, and a partner of Raiffeisen Bank.
In 1994, the Mogilevich group obtained control over Inkombank, one of the largest private banks in Russia, in a secret deal with bank chairman Vladimir Vinogradov, getting direct access to the world financial system. The bank collapsed in 1998 under suspicions of money laundering. Through Inkombank, in 1996 he obtained a significant share in Sukhoi, a large military aircraft manufacturer.

Two major drug smuggling cases in 1996 illustrate the transnational reach of ROC. The first involved Russians as well as individuals from the Netherlands, Ukraine, Belarus, and African countries in an attempt to smuggle four tons of drugs via Russia. The second case involved ROC operations in five West European countries and Russia; the illicit activities led to a joint operation among the involved governments against a transnational drug trafficking group--and to the confiscation of 2.5 tons of drugs.

In testimony before the U.S. Senate, FBI director Louis Freeh stated that some 27 ROC groups had been identified as operating in the United States.

One MVD official stated that ROC activities in the United States include money laundering, illegal money transactions, and narcotics trafficking.
Other countries with a known and active ROC presence include Germany, with 47 groups; and Italy, with 60 groups. The MVD estimates that over 100 ROC groups are active in at least 50 countries.

The Most Dangerous Mobster in the World

by Robert I. Friedman
May 26, 1998
Published NY Village
Quote

In two posh villas outside the small town of Ricany, near Prague, one of the most dreaded mob families in the world savagely murders its terrified victims. The mob’s young enforcers, trained by veterans of the Afghanistan war, are infamous for their extreme brutality.
Their quarry, usually businessmen who have balked at extortion demands, are repeatedly stabbed and tortured, then mutilated before they are butchered. The carnage is so hideous that it has scared the daylights out of competing crime groups in the area.

The torture chambers are run by what international police officials call the Red Mafia, a notorious Russian mob family that in only six years has become a nefarious global crime cartel. Based in Budapest, it has key centers in New York, Pennsylvania, Southern California, and as far away as New Zealand.

The enigmatic leader of the Red Mafia is a 52-year-old Ukrainian-born Jew named Semion Mogilevich.
He is a shadowy figure known as the ”Brainy Don”–he holds an economics degree from the University of Lvov–and until now, he has never been exposed by the media. But the Voice has obtained hundreds of pages of classified FBI and Israeli intelligence documents from August 1996, and these documents–as well as recent interviews with a key criminal associate and with dozens of law enforcement sources here and abroad–describe him as someone who has become a grave threat to the stability of Israel and Eastern Europe.

”He’s the most powerful mobster in the world,” crows Monya Elson, who is listed in classified documents as one of Mogilevich’s closest associates and partners in prostitution and money laundering rings. The Brighton Beachbased Elson, who once led a pack of thugs and killers known as Monya’s Brigada, is currently in the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan awaiting trial for three murders and numerous extortions.

In July 1993, after Elson was grievously wounded by rival mobsters in a bloody shoot-out outside his Brooklyn apartment building, Mogilevich spirited him out of the country. Mogilevich then set up his Russian Jewish refugee friend in an alleged massive money-laundering scheme in Fano, Italy, where he was eventually arrested and extradited back to America. Elson, an integral part of the Red Mafia, had been one of the most feared mobsters in Brighton Beach, ground zero for Russian organized crime in America, which has exploded here following perestroika.

”If I tell on Mogilevich, Interpol will give me $20 million,” boasted Elson. ”I lived with him. I’m his partner, don’t forget. We are very, very close friends. I don’t mean close, I mean very, very close. He’s my best friend.” Nevertheless, after extensive interviews over the course of the last six months, Elson ultimately confirmed some of the details about Mogilevich contained in the classified FBI and Israeli documents.

Allegations of Mogilevich’s devilish array of criminal activities are extensively detailed in the reports:The FBI and Israeli intelligence assert that he traffics in nuclear materials, drugs, prostitutes, precious gems, and stolen art.
His contract hit squads operate in the U.S. and Europe. He controls everything that goes in and out of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, a ”smugglers’ paradise,” says Elson. Mogilevich bought a bankrupt airline in a former Central Asian Soviet republic for millions of dollars in cash so he could haul heroin out of the Golden Triangle. Most worrisome to U.S. authorities is Mogilevich’s apparently legal purchase of virtually the entire Hungarian armaments industry, jeopardizing regional security, NATO, and the war against terrorism.

In one typical criminal deal, Mogilevich and two Moscow-based gangsters sold $20 million worth of pilfered Warsaw Pact weapons from East Germany, including ground-to-air missiles and 12 armored troop carriers, according to the classified Israeli and FBI documents. The buyer was Iran, says a top-level U.S. Customs official who requested anonymity.

In another deal, an FBI informant told the bureau that one of Mogilevich’s chief lieutenants in Los Angeles met two Russians from New York City with Genovese crime family ties to broker a scheme to dump American toxic waste in Russia. Mogilevich’s man from L.A. said the Red Mafia would dispose of the toxic waste in the Chernobyl region, ”probably through payoffs to the decontamination authorities there,” says a classified FBI report.

Mogilevich is particularly intrigued by art fraud. In early 1993, he reached an agreement with the leaders of the powerful Solntsevskaya crime family in Moscow to invest huge sums of money in a joint venture: acquiring a jewelry business in Moscow and Budapest. The business, according to classified FBI documents, was to serve as a front for the acquisition of jewelry, antiques, and art, which the Solntsevskaya mob had stolen from churches and museums in Russia, including the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. The gangsters also robbed the homes of art collectors and even broke into synagogues in Germany and Eastern Europe to steal rare religious books and Torahs.

Mogilevich’s operation, again in collusion with the Solntsevskaya mob, also purchased a large jewelry factory in Budapest. Russian antiques, such as Faberge eggs, are sent to Budapest for ”restoration.” Mogilevich’s men ship the genuine Faberge eggs to an unwitting Sotheby’s auction house in London for sale, then send fake Faberge eggs as well as other ”restored” objects back to Moscow.

Mogilevich’s early years are murky. Soviet authorities first learned of his criminal activities in the 1970s, when he was a member of the Liubertskaya crime group that operated in the Moscow suburb of the same name. He was involved in petty thefts and counterfeiting.

But Mogilevich made his first millions fleecing fellow Jews. In the mid 1980s, when tens of thousands of Jewish refugees were hurriedly immigrating to Israel and America, Mogilevich made deals to buy their assets–rubles, furniture, and art–cheaply, promising to exchange the goods for fair market value and send refugees the proceeds in ”hard” currency. Instead, he sold their valuables and pocketed the considerable profits.

In the 1980s, he established a petroleum import-export company, Arbat International, and registered it in Alderney, one of the Channel Islands, which is known to be a tax haven. One of his partners–with a quarter share of the company–was Vyacheslav Ivankov, the legendary Russian criminal who in March 1992 became Godfather of the Russian mob in America. Ivankov was convicted in 1996 of extorting two Russian-born Wall Street stockbrokers. He now resides in Raybrook, a Federal prison in upstate New York.

In early 1990, Mogilevich fled Moscow, as did many other dons, to avoid the gangland wars that were then roiling the capital. Mogilevich and his top henchmen settled in Israel, where they received Israeli citizenship. He ”succeeded in building a bridgehead in Israel” and ”developing significant and influential [political] ties,” says an Israeli intelligence report.

Mogilevich is married to a Hungarian national, Katalin Papp. That marriage allowed him to legally emigrate to Budapest, Hungary, in 1991, where he began to build the foundations of his global criminal empire. He bought a string of nightclubs in Prague, Riga, and Kiev–called the ”Black and White Clubs”–that has become one of the world’s foremost centers of prostitution. Monya Elson is a partner in the clubs, according to his own admission and classified FBI documents. The Black and White Club in Budapest became the hub of Mogilevich’s operations. He quickly built a highly structured criminal organization, in the mode of a traditional American mafia family. Indeed, many of the organization’s 250 members are his relatives.

To the consternation of international law enforcement officials, Mogilevich began to legally purchase much of Hungary’s arms industry. The legitimate companies he bought include:

Magnex 2000: a giant magnet manufacturer.

Digep General Machine Works: an artillery shell, mortar, and fire equipment manufacturer, which was financed by a $3.8 million loan from the London branch of Banque Francaise De L’orean.

Army Co-op: a mortar and anti-aircraft gun factory. Army Co-op was established in 1991 by two Hungarian nationals, both in the local arms industry, who were looking for a partner. Mogilevich has bought 95 per cent of Army Co-op through another Channel Island holding company, Arigon, Ltd., and also deals extensively with the Ukraine, selling oil products to the Ukrainian railway administration.

These transactions enabled the Mogilevich organization to become a direct owner of the Hungarian armaments industry. In 1994, he purchased a license enabling him to buy and sell weapons. Now a legitimate armaments manufacturer, one of his companies participated in at least one arms exhibition in the U.S., where it displayed mortars modified by Israel.

Like mob bosses everywhere, Mogilevich couldn’t sustain his empire without the help of corrupt police and politicians. There is one documented example of a criminal associate of Mogilevich mingling with American politicians. In March 1994, Vahtang Ubiriya, one of Mogilevich’s top lieutenants, was photographed by the FBI at a tony Republican Party fundraiser in Dallas, says an FBI report. Ubiriya, a high-ranking official in the Ukrainian railway administration, has a prior conviction for bribery in the Ukraine.

In Europe and Russia, the ”corruption of police and public officials has been part of the Semion Mogilevich Organization’s modus operandi,” says a classified FBI document. ”The corruptive influence of the Mogilevich organization apparently extends to the Russian security system. During 1995, two colonels from Department of the Russian Presidential Security Service . . . traveled to Hungary under commercial cover to meet with Mogilevich . . . seeking information for use in the Russian political campaign.” An Israeli associate of Mogilevich met with the two colonels and provided intelligence. Mogilevich also paid off a Russian judge to secure Vyacheslav Ivankov’s early release from a Siberian prison, where he was doing hard time for robbery and torture, according to U.S. court records and classified FBI documents.

On April 28, the German national television network ZDF reported that the BND (the German intelligence agency) had entered into a secret contract with Mogilevich to provide information on the Russian mob. The charges were made by several sources, including Pierre Delilez, a highly regarded Belgium police investigator who specializes in Russian Organized Crime. Because of this deal with the BND, police in Belgium, Germany, and Austria have complained that it is now impossible to investigate the ”Brainy Don.” If the television report is accurate, one possible motive for BND’s deal, says a U.S. law enforcement expert on the Russian mob, is that the Germans recently ”pulled their people out of Moscow because they didn’t like the level of cooperation they were getting from the Russian authorities on the Russian mob.” Gangsters, said this source, often talk to intelligence agencies about their rivals.

Mogilevich’s main activity in the U.S. appears to be money laundering, says a classified FBI report. He has set up companies in Los Angeles–FNJ Trade Management–and Newton, Pennsylvania–YBM Magnex International–as well as dozens of shell companies, which have received more than $30 million from Arigon, Ltd., the center of Mogilevich’s financial operations.

Last Friday, U.S. Attorney Robert Courtney, head of the organized-crime strike force, led a a joint FBI, IRS, INS, and Customs raid of YBM’s offices in Newton. Cartons of documents were seized, with Canadian and U.S. police citing the company’s alleged ties to Russian organized crime. YBM is publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and two days before Friday’s raid, trading in its stock was suspended by Canadian authorities.

The president and CEO of YBM is Jacob Bogatin, a professor of physical metallurgy. In May 1996, he contacted the FBI in Philadelphia to find out why the INS had denied visas to YBM employees arriving from Hungary and the Ukraine. When he was rebuffed, he had intermediaries step forward and pester the FBI. The State Department has banned Mogilevich himself from obtaining a U.S. visa because he’s on the department’s watch list of international organized-crime figures. Nevertheless, he has surreptitiously entered America under aliases and on visitor visas issued in Tel Aviv to visit Elson and Ivankov.

Bogatin admitted during a telephone interview that Mogilevich owns his company. When asked if he knew that numerous law enforcement agencies here and abroad considered Mogilevich to be a leader of one of the most ruthless organized-crime families in recent times, Bogatin replied, ”We have an investors relations guy. You want to talk with him about this stuff.” He added that he had read allegations in the Eastern European press that his boss was a Mafia don, but didn’t believe them. YBM vehemently denies that it is connected to Russian organized crime or has engaged in any criminal activities.

Bogatin is no stranger to the mob, however. His brother, David, a top Russian crime figure who once served in North Vietnam for the Soviets in an anti-aircraft unit, is now serving an eight-year term in a New York State prison for a multimillion-dollar gasoline tax fraud scheme. Just prior to trial, he had jumped bail, fleeing to Poland. There he set up the first commercial banks, which moved vast sums of money controlled by Russian wiseguys. (This after handing over his mortgages for five pricey Trump Tower apartments to a Genovese associate. The mortgages were liquidated and the funds were moved through a mafia-controlled bank in Chelsea.) Eventually he was caught and returned to the U.S. In the meantime, he lived like royalty in a five-star Viennese hotel, surrounded by a praetorian guard of 125 Polish parachutists, some of them bedecked in shiny gold uniforms.

Mogilevich has not refrained from associating with known killers in America, prime among them Elson and Ivankov. A confidential informant told the FBI that Vladimir Berkovich, an L.A. resident, is a chief lieutenant in Mogilevich’s organization and has arranged contract killings here, supplying the weapons and spiriting the killers out of the country. The visas, says the report, were obtained through the Palm Terrace restaurant, a watering hole for Russian gangsters, which Berkovich owns. Berkovich told the Voice that he is aware of the government’s charges, and that they are ”total bullshit.” Although he has no criminal record in the U.S., Berkovich’s son, Oleg, was convicted in Los Angeles of solicitation to commit murder on October 11, 1989. He was sentenced to four years. Oleg’s business card identified his employer as Magnex, Ltd., a company owned by Mogilevich in Budapest. Oleg was recently arrested in Hungary on unspecified charges but was released.

Oleg’s uncle, the colorful Lazar Berkovich, whose last known address was New York City, arrived in the Big Apple after having survived a shootout with Italian gangsters, says his brother Vladimir. The FBI report claims that Lazar was head of Russian criminal activities in Italy prior to his coming to America to recuperate from his wounds, though Vladimir Bercovich denies that Lazar was ever connected to the Russian mob.

Israeli and U.S. law enforcement sources agree that the Red Mafia, though in existence for a mere six years, has become one of the most formidable Russian organized-crime families in the world. Strongest in the Ukraine, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and the U.S., Mogilevich has increased his strength by forging ties with other powerful Russian mob groups as well as with the Italian Camorra. His reported ties to the German BND and expolice officers in Hungary keep him informed of police efforts to penetrate his organization. ”He also ingratiates himself with the police by providing information on other [Russian crime] groups’ activities, thus appearing to be a cooperative good citizen,” says a classfied FBI report. This, along with his strong leadership qualities, his acute financial skills, his talented and highly educated associates, and his use of cutting-edge technology, has so far made the ”Brainy Don” impervious to prosecution.

The Dept of Justice report, By John Ashcroft, On Russian Organized Crime.
#1 threat
National Institute of Justice

Russian organized crime, or what has been generically referred to (inappropriately in our view) as the Russian Mafia
In the United States, the
label “Russian” actually refers to a variety of Eurasian crime groups. These
include Armenians, Ukrainians, Lithuanians, and persons from the Caucasus
region of the former Soviet Union (e.g., Chechens, Dagestanis, Georgians). It
is estimated that some 12 to 15 loosely categorized criminal groups that have
international ties to Russia or other former Soviet republics are currently
operating in the United States. These groups, which we will also conveniently
label Russian organized crime, together have some 500 to 600 members.

Russian Mafia's Worldwide Grip

Brooklyn's Brighton Beach neighborhood has earned the nicknamed "Little Odessa" because it reminds its thousands of Russian immigrant residents of the Black Sea resort back home.
But while it is home to many law-abiding citizens looking a better life, Little Odessa is also ground zero for the Russian Mafia in the United States.
When most people think of organized crime, CBS News Correspondent Bill Plante reports, it calls to mind images of The Godfather or The Sopranos—in other words, the Italian Mafia.

But in less than 30 years, Russian organized crime has grown to pose a threat law enforcement officials think could be greater than that posed by La Cosa Nostra.
"Italian organized crime in America is a pimple on a horse's ass compared with Russian organized crime in America—and globally," says Robert I. Friedman, author of a new book on the Russian Mafia.

Fearing that widespread crime and corruption could threaten economic reforms—and even nuclear security—President Vladimir Putin has said law and order will be a top priority.
Click here to read part one of Bill Plante's report.
The reason for the Russian Mafia's dominance, says Friedman, is that they "have something no crime group in the world has. They have their own state to work from, in fact, a former superpower."

Currently, Russian mobsters are operating in 50 countries.
Friedman says Russian organized crime emerged here during the 1970s era of détente with the former Soviet Union.

Under pressure from the Nixon administration, Moscow agreed to allow more Soviet Jews to emigrate. But in a move copied years later by Fidel Castro, the Soviets opened prison doors in the gulag and thousands of hard-core criminals left for the United States.

Since then, the Russian Mafia has been linked to penny stock manipulation, gas excise tax scams, health care fraud and cybercrime—criminal enterprises where they are pioneers, not just perpetrators. The worldwide reach of the Russian mob was demonstrated by Ludwig Fainberg, a.k.a. "Tarzan." according to Friedman, the nightclub owner arranged the sale of a Russian submarine, complete with a captain and crew, to Colombian drug runners.

Fortune 5: The Biggest Organized Crime Groups in the World

Photo: New York Daily News Archive NY Daily News via Getty Images
By Chris Matthews September 14, 2014

It’s tough to go even a few months without seeing the effects of organized crime on the economy and everyday life. The most salient example these days is the rash of thefts of credit card data from big-name retail chains like Home Depot and Target.
While these threats are headline-grabbing and particularly frightening because e-commerce is a relatively new phenomenon and businesses and consumers aren’t totally sure how to protect themselves from hackers, it’s still a drop in the bucket in terms of overall organized crime earnings.

A 2013 survey from Javelin Strategy and Research estimates that the annual total loss to Americans due to identity theft was roughly $20 billion. But much of those costs comes from efforts to prevent identity theft or recover from its effects, rather than what thieves earn from their crimes. Compare that to estimates of pure revenue from other forms of organized crime like the drug trade and human trafficking: the Organization of American States estimates that the revenue for cocaine sales in the U.S. has reached $34 billion annually. When you add the market for other illicit drugs and revenue generators like human trafficking and extortion, it becomes clear that organized crime is still making most of its money from its legacy businesses, despite the fact that criminals are always looking for new ways to make a buck.

So, who are the biggest organized crime gangs around the world and how do they make their money? Organized crime revenues are very difficult to estimate, as criminals often spend a significant amount of time trying to hide what they make. Also, “organized crime” is a loosely defined concept. Anything from a vast drug smuggling ring to a handful of car thieves can be classified as organized crime groups, and the cohesiveness of organized crime organizations around the world varies widely. Some groups, like Japan’s Yakuza, are highly organized and hierarchical, allowing economists and crime fighters in Japan to attribute much higher revenue totals to Yakuza groups than others around the world. Here are the top five criminal gangs, ranked by revenue estimates:

1. Solntsevskaya Bratva—Revenue: $8.5 billion

Russian mafia groups sit on the other side of the organizational spectrum from Yakuza. Their structure, according to Frederico Varese, a professor of criminology at the University of Oxford and an expert on international organized crime, is highly decentralized. The group is composed of 10 separate quasi-autonomous “brigades” that operate more or less independently of each other. The group does pool its resources, however, and the money is overseen by a 12-person council that “meets regularly in different parts of the world, often disguising their meetings as festive occasions,” Varesi says.

It’s estimated that the group claims upwards of 9,000 members, and that it’s bread and butter is the drug trade and human trafficking. Russian organized crime in general is heavily involved in the heroin trade that originates in Afghanistan: it’s estimated that Russia consumes about 12% of the world’s heroin, while it contains just 0.5% of the world’s population.

Non-Italian criminal groups in Italy
There is a small number of similar criminal organizations operating in Italy but based outside of Italy or composed of non-Italians living in Italy, such as the Chinese Triads, Russian, Georgian and Israeli networks, African (notably Nigerian) gangs, and Balkan crime groups including the Greek, Serbian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Montenegrin (who ran cigarette smuggling operations with the Sacra Corona Unita) and the Albanian mafia.
The Albanian gangs mainly operate in not only Albania but also notably in Italy, especially the more affluent northern parts of Italy. All these organizations operate mostly in prostitution under the permission and the control of the Italian organized crime groups.

Re: Russian Mafia - 02/25/18 06:29 PM

According to Interpol, ‘Russian mafia’ currently involves some 160 thousand people.

To compare: Italian Cosa Nostra has only 70 thousand members, while Japanese Yakuza even less – some 37 thousand fighters. It’s necessary, however, to make a linguistic comment: many European languages do not distinguish such meanings as “Russian” and “Originating from Russia”, and in the post-Soviet era they call “Russians” all natives of the former USSR republics: Ukrainians, Georgians, Uzbeks, etc.
Overall, some 360 separate organized criminal groups whose main language is Russian operate in Europe. Unfortunately, Western sources often don’t distinguish them by nationality, but instead categorize Russian-speaking criminals by the country of operations and specialty.

Italy
Such a law exists in Italy. For example, a home in Sicilian town of Corleone, previously belonging to the former Cosa Nostra boss Salvatore ‘Toto’ Riina, has been converted to an agricultural college. However a ‘Russian’ criminal trace has been found here as well. According to the sources, 6 organized criminal groups operate here; their members are natives of Ingushetia, Chechnya, and the Urals. They are mostly based in Italian resort towns, especially in Rimini, and specialize in drug dealing, robberies, and smuggling weapons. Many crimes are performed together with Italian mafia.

So your saying a few drunken goons and panzies over in Brighton Beach, running some white collar scams and extorting their own people has more influence than Cosa nostra? The five families still dominate organized crime in New York city, America's largest and arguably most important city in terms of business, money and popularity. They still have their hands in everything. If the Russians were so powerful, how come you barely hear them get arrested in the usa? And don't give me the bs about how their so secretive. If they were so important, the damn feds would atleast bust a few of them every year. But they don't because they are just popular in movies and because of people like you who have something against Italians. Meanwhile there is plenty of Cosa nostra news in the usa every year. Like it was said before, nobody gives a shit about what happens in Russia, that shithole is corrupt as hell. Now if they got that kind of power here, it would be impressive, but they don't.

YES, thats exactly what Im saying.
You need to watch few Spielberg and Hollywood fictional movies and actually pay attention for once in your life.

The gas scam which Francese made himself wealthy was organized and carried out by Russians. It was not a white collar scam. It involved Billions of dollars, the kind of money that gets people killed.
Quote
Since then, the Russian Mafia has been linked to stock manipulation, gas excise tax scams, health care fraud and cybercrime—criminal enterprises where they are pioneers, not just perpetrators. The worldwide reach of the Russian mob was demonstrated by Ludwig Fainberg, a.k.a. "Tarzan." according to Friedman, the nightclub owner arranged the sale of a Russian submarine, complete with a captain and crew, to Colombian drug runner.

And

Hardly white collar scams. Murder for hire, arms dealers, now owners of bank with international clout.

Real Gangsters dont throw themselves in the limelight or get arrested.
I dont mean to insult you, but your IQ cant be above room temperature.

You say I don't mean to insult you and then follow with an insult, wow, your a bigger moron than I thought. Sure the Russian gas scam made tons of cash, but did you forget that the Italians got a cut from the action, and that the Russian mob boss had to run to the Lucchese family for help when he got threatened by a rival. Where were the big tough Russians then? And stop bringing up stuff from other places, were talking about the United States you gavone. You have some fucking hard on for Russian men clearly.

The Bronfmans, for example. have entered into a most profitable business partnership with the Cuban rum Bacardi family. After Fidel Castro took over the island in 1959, the Bacardis switched their base of operations to Puerto Rico and Miami, taking along with them a small army of anti-Castro Cuban exiles.

The Bacardis. headed by Manuel Cutilla Bacardi. have been pinpointed by law enforcement agencies as the funders and politica lcontrollers of entire networks of Cuban exiles. The"gusanos," as they are called. are not only involved in terrorism <Orlando Bosch's September 1976 bombing of a Cubana airlines plane killed over 70 people). Drug runners in the Bacardi-Cuban exile networks. Jose Medardo Alvero-Cruz and Antonio Cruz Vasquez. have been recently arrested for drug trafficking in the Caribbean and Mexico. Bronfman's contact is former Mexican President Miguel Aleman. who owns and operates Acapulco.
Today Aleman is demanding the revival of casino gambling in Mexico;
in the 1930s nationalist President Lazaro Cardenas threw the casinos, and with them Meyer Lansky, out of the country. In short, wherever Seagram branches appear on the map, they are thoroughly intermeshed with narcotics runners. gambling, and crime.

On the public record, the Bronfmans' gutter connections are most visible in the case of Mitchell Bronfman.
The son of Knight of Justice Allan Bronfman. Mitchell is reportedly never without his semi automatic strapped to his shoulder and his stiletto strapped to his left calf. The Bronfman family is one of the most influential Jewish families in the world.
It owes its initial fame to Samuel Bronfman (1889-1971), who made a fortune in the alcoholic distilled beverage business during the 20th century through the family's Seagram Company. The family is of Russian Jewish heritage.
Most of its members are Canadian subjects, most of whom are based in Montreal and New York City.

Samuel Bronfman
Samuel Bronfman, CC (February 27, 1889 – July 10, 1971) founded Distillers Corporation Limited and a Canadian family dynasty, the Bronfman family. His father grew tobacco and was a grist mill owner in Imperial Russia. His surname, coincidentally, means "liquor man" in Yiddish.

Early Life
Born in Soroki, Bessarabia, then part of Imperial Russia but now in Moldova, Samuel was one of eight children of Mindel and Yechiel Bronfman. He and his parents were Jewish refugees of Czarist Russia's anti-Semitic pogroms who immigrated to Wapella, Saskatchewan -- soon moving to Brandon, Manitoba. A wealthy family, they were accompanied by their rabbi and two servants. Soon Yechiel learned that tobacco farming, which had made him a wealthy man in his homeland, was incompatible with the cold Canadian climate. Yechiel was forced to work as a laborer for the Canadian Northern Railway and after a short time moved to a better job in a sawmill. Yechiel and his sons then started making a good living selling firewood and began a trade in frozen whitefish to earn a winter income. Eventually they turned to trading horses, a venture through which they became involved in the hotel and bar business.

In 1903, the family bought a hotel business, and Samuel, noting that much of the profit was in alcoholic beverages, set up shop as a distributor, founding the Distillers Corporation in Montreal in 1924, specializing in cheap whiskey, and concurrently taking advantage of the U.S. prohibition on alcoholic beverages. The Bronfmans found great success bootlegging to the northern cities of the U.S. such as Boston and Chicago during the Prohibition era, while operating from the perimeters of Montreal, Quebec where alcohol production was still legal.

His empire
Bronfman's Distillers Corporation acquired Joseph E. Seagram & Sons of Waterloo, Ontario, from the heirs of Joseph Seagram in 1928. Bronfman eventually built an empire based on the appeal of brand names developed previously by Seagram - including Calvert, Dewars, and Seven Crown - to higher level consumers. His sales were boosted during the United States' abortive experiment with prohibition, and he was apparently able to do so while staying within the confines of both Canadian law where prohibition laws had been previously repealed and American law, while dealing with unsavory characters such as the Chicago Outfit of Al Capone.

His company, Seagram Co. Ltd., became an international distributor of alcoholic beverages, and a diversified conglomerate which included an entertainment branch.
Because of changes to US tax law in the Lyndon Johnson administration it became advantageous for Bronfman to purchase an oil company which he did with the purchase of Texas Pacific Coal and Oil Company in 1963 for $50 million. In 1980, the Bronfman heirs sold the Texas Pacific Oil holdings to Sun Oil Co. for $2.3 billion.

The Seagram assets have since been acquired by other companies, notably General Electric, PepsiCo, Diageo, and Pernod Ricard.

A popular Jewish Marxist tactic is to attack the messenger if you dont like the message.
Years of posts on this board and no one mantions J EWs, who run Organized Crime, and have a crime headquarters IN Israel.
The Bronfman Family has been uncovered by very serious journalists, but not well known. Multiple sources however, and Ive listed many of them.
In so doing, Moscone the little pony, attacks a source, and One time US Presidential Candidate as being an 'anti semite'
To me and many, that just means he tells the truth about J EWs. It has no weight whatsoever.

I point this out and my tin foil hat is on too tight.....Youre either really dumb, or youre a sayan shill.

You are blowing things out of proportion. Mitchell Bronfman considered to be the black sheep of the family, did have some dealings with Willie Obront, he was I think the nephew of the elder but it does not make the whole family criminals. The Bronfman empire was runed by the sons and not Mitchell Bronfman. The elder did make money during prohibition but so did others like Joseph Kennedy.
The Bronfman family run a legit business, they also donated a lot to the Montreal community, McGill university and others.

Yea, Ill get right on that.
Found this on a Hoffa doscumentary of Detroits Jewish Purple gang. Who knew? 500 murders.

Quote
In 1924 Hoffa’s family moved to the biggest boomtown of them all-Detroit. The city that the struggling Hoffa family arrived in was both a land of opportunity, and of danger. It had the highest murder rate of any city in the North and the Jewish Purple gang was responsible for smuggling a substantial portion of America’s bootleg whiskey into the country over the Detroit River. The burgeoning Motor City was a volatile cauldron of European immigrants, white hillbillies, and Blacks from the American south; it made for a deadly mix. Between January 1925 and June of 1926 the Detroit Police killed 25 African-Americans; the Purple Gang was responsible for 500 murders; and a secret society called the Black Legion operated in the police department and factory halls to maintain Protestant supremacy in the fast growing city. Then the Great Depression hit.

The bigger story is why did Israel and the Mossad Jews, kill JFK?

[Linked Image]
JFK also refused any nukes for Israel.
Letters to Ben Gurion evidence this. Yet, 3 months after his assassination, Israel mysteriously got nukes.

Re: Russian Mafia - 02/26/18 06:35 PM

The Russians will never be more powerful than the Italians in New York because even if their powers or their monopolies are down there are two extremely powerful families whose forces are still very high which are the Genovese and Gambino families and even if their powers were to weaken there is the Ndrangetta which shows its nose little by little and I think that in twenty or thirty years the Calabrians will be very powerful and will have passed the Sicilians as it is currently the case in Montreal and in Canada.
The main rivals of the Italians in New York are the Albanians who have not hesitated to attack the families of New York in the early 2000s the problem is that it only takes a mass arrests for an organization and these no longer exist to the contrary of Italian families.
For the Russians they would have more chances in other cities than New York as Chicago Los Angeles Detroit ...

Federal agents arrested nine members of a Brooklyn-based Russian organized crime syndicate on Wednesday.

BY John Marzulli
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
November 9, 2016,

Federal agents arrested nine reputed members of a Brooklyn-based Russian organized crime syndicate Wednesday with close ties to an underworld group in Eastern Europe known as Thieves in Law, authorities said.
A 10-count indictment unsealed in Brooklyn Federal Court charges them with racketeering, extortion, loansharking, marijuana trafficking and illegal gambling.

"The defendants, all of whom are members of the transnational enterprise, report abroad to high-ranking organized crime members living in Eastern Europe," Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Jacobs and Andrey Spektor stated in court papers.
The Thieves in Law helped the Brooklyn mobsters collect extortion debts from victims living outside the U.S., the prosecutors stated.

One victim who owed the Brooklyn mobsters $200,000 was tracked down in Israel and other family members were in Russia with the help of the Thieves.
The mobsters are expected to be arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court on Wednesday afternoon.
The Brooklyn mobsters operated in Coney Island and Brighton Beach, sources said. High-stakes poker games were set up at a building on Coney Island Ave. which from the outside appeared to be an auto leasing and private security business.

One defendant, Aleksey Tsvetkov, was previously convicted of racketeering in 2005 and deported to the Ukraine. But Tsvetkov was allowed to return to the U.S. and granted asylum after claiming that he was tortured when he returned to his homeland.
Agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service, and the NYPD also busted Leonid Gershman, Renat Yusufov, Igor Krugly, Vyacheslav Malkeyev, Isok Aronov, Yusuf Pardilov, and Librado Rivera.

The leader of the syndicate is indicted but remains a fugitive, officials said.

New York Fed is in bed with Safra and the Russian mafia

by Jeffrey Steinberg

Every day of the week, between $100 million and $1 billion in U.S. hundred-dollar bills, are flown from New York's Kennedy Airport to Moscow, where they are funnelled through a string of unregulated, sleazy banks, into the hands of Russia's leading mafiosi, helping to fuel the biggest organized crime boom since U.S. Prohibition helped jump-start the late Meyer Lansky's National Crime Syndicate.

According to a cover story in the Jan. 22, 1996 New York Magazine, these crisp, new "C-notes" are sold by the New York Federal Reserve Bank to Republic National Bank of New York. That bank's owner, Edmond Safra, has had more than one run in with U.S. federal narcotics authorities.
Back in1989, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Customs Service linked Republic and Safra to major money laundering schemes by the Medellin Cartel and by the Swiss based Shakarchi Trading Company, a laundromat for Syrian and East bloc heroin profits.
New York Magazine writer Robert I. Friedman, (assassinated) who authored the Jan. 22 story, is no stranger to cross-currents of big time politics, finance, and the underworld. He has written a very unauthorized biography of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, founder of the terrorist Jewish Defense League and Kach Movement, and he has catalogued the activities of the Jewish underground in the Israeli Occupied Territories.

Re: Russian Mafia - 02/27/18 07:40 AM

I also think that the Russians may make more money in the US than the American Mafia. But they are not more powerful. And never was and never will be.

Just because one organization makes more money than the other dont make it the more powerful one. If the two organizations are equal powerful and ONE have more money than the other then okey, the one with more money wins. But its not obvius just because you have more money you win.

However if we are talking about(moneywise) 2000 and forward i think Russians make more money, they simply do STATE buisnesses, Oil and banks and shit its on another level.

in the indictments you posted russians were involved in extortions, gambling etc, the same things of italian mafia
but italian mafia is bigger in the states so it makes more money
russian mafia doesn't own banks and oil companies in the states, that's in russia, like italian mafia in italy wosn tons of legal enterprises
so i don't think russian mafia makes more money, probably the italians make
also i see georgian clans in europe countries (the most powerful among russian oc) are often involved in bulglaries, that it is not a so lucrative business

This article says that the cocaine was meant for also known in Latvia Russian criminal authority Konstantin "Kola(Cola)" Stecyuk. Stecyuk survived an assasination attempt some years ago in Riga, Latvia. Two hitmen with AK's opened fire at him and his family, bodyguards shot back and caught one of the hitmen who was Chechen Descent. The hitman later got 13 years in prison for this assasination attempt.
Another person not mentioned in the article, but people rumoring connected to the case is Yuriy "Polkasha" Polkovnikov - ex member of Haritonov Brigade, had a fight some years ago with Maxim Gavrilov, a brigade leader from Pardaugava Group. Polkovnikov got beaten up bad that time, but Gavrilov got assasinated a half year later.

Also in the comments people say that the current leader of the Haritonov Brigade - Gennadiy "Dlinniy(english: Tall guy)"Valyagin got arrested also with connection to this case, but there's no confirmation about it.

Interesting how their gang formed of different ethnics from ex-USSR. Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian. Something you rarely see actually nowdays, in Russia gangs mostly are ethnic now. Even Vory V Zakone are seperated into Slavic ones and Cossacks.

Re: Russian Mafia - 08/06/18 08:24 AM

Spanish police on Sunday arrested a man considered to be the third-highest ranking boss in the worldwide Russian mafia and two other high-profile mobsters while they were meeting to allegedly plot the murder of a rival clan member as a show of strength in Europe. According to a police statement, the arrests took place in the southern Spanish city of Marbella, on the Costa del Sol, famous as a luxury tourist destination, according to EFE. The three men were planning to restructure the crime ring that had been dismantled in a law enforcement operation in June, in which 129 people were arrested, among them seven "Vory v Zakone" ("Thieves in Law" in Russian), or elite underworld leaders stemming from countries of the former Soviet Union.

Investigators discovered that the suspects were planning to hold a "Skhodka" (a traditional meeting of mob kingpins) in which the Thieves in Law were allegedly going to order the execution of a member of a rival clan, which prompted the swift issuing of arrest warrants. Following the arrests, police searched three residences and seized various documents and computers with information, as well as fake Polish and Ukrainian IDs with the names of those detained.

Re: Russian Mafia - 08/14/18 03:18 PM

Spain is like the big refuge country for the crème de la crème of European organized crime. There's crews from the former Soviet Union (Georgians, Russians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Jews from Russia/Ukraine/Belarus/Moldova, Chechens...), Italian crime syndicates (Sicilian mafia, Camorra, Ndrangheta...), Balkan groups (Serbs/Montenegrins, Albanians...), Turkish groups (traditional Black Sea mobs as well as Kurdish clans)...as well as criminal firms from the UK and Ireland (firms from Liverpool, the Southeast, Dublin, Glasgow, Nottingham...), the Netherlands (Dutch 'Kampers', Moroccans, Antilleans, bikers...even old school criminals) and France (French Algerians, Moroccans as well as Corsicans...) all arriving in the country. An assload of money is laundered by gangsters from all of those places in Spain. Inter-gang feuds are being increasingly handled in Spain as well; not a month goes by before another Irishman, Moroccan, Georgian...gets whacked.

Spain always had this reputation really. It might not be known for being a specific breeding ground for organized crime itself, but it's a relative comfort zone for crooks throughout Europe.

Jans distinguishes 4 Russian criminal networks that have been (or have been) active in the Netherlands since the nineties. 1. A Chechen gang from St. Petersburg. 2. The Podolskaya, a powerful criminal club, with Sergey Lalakin (photo), alias 'De Ui', as leader. 3. The Pushkinskaya from Moscow, who produces Stolichnaya vodka for Russia in the Netherlands. 4. The Tambovskaya, with Vladimir Barsukov, alias 'The Night', governor of St. Petersburg at the helm. Some members of a Georgian gang would sometimes also appear, who are used as relatively cheap hitmen.

BMK
The Russians in the Netherlands are engaged in extortion, money laundering and fraud. They also provide large loads of BMK, a raw material for the production of xtc. Its production is permitted in Russia - the export abroad is not. According to rumors Chinese criminals would take care of the transport to the Netherlands.

Bierman
The article also contains some examples of Russians who were murdered in the Netherlands, such as the Jewish-Russian Vadim Rozenbaoum, alias De Bierman. The entrepreneur earns good money after the fall of communism, but flees to the Netherlands when he gets the tip that the KGB has provided for him. He earns a lot of money here with the export of Dutch beer to Russia.

Capital villa
In 1995 there is one Konstantin at the door of the capital villa of Rozenbaoum in the Brabant Oirschot. He demands $ 1 million from the beer merchant, half of which is in cash. According to Konstantin, the money belongs to the KGB. Rozenbaoum refuses to pay, with fatal consequences. The father of Rozenbaoum is stabbed on the street in Moscow. Some time later a director of one of Rozenbaoum's Russian companies is shot dead. In the end Rozenbaoum himself also lives: at the end of July 1997 he is found dead in bed.

The case is never resolved.

Re: Russian Mafia - 06/23/19 10:36 AM

A major Russian money laundering operation appears to have partly taken place from the Netherlands for years. In the name of a company located in a terraced house in Wormer in North Holland, money flows of more than one hundred million dollars were sent around the world.

It is about the financial empire of the controversial Russian businessman and multi-millionaire Ruben Vardanyan. Newspaper Trouw, together with OCCRP and partners, revealed that the bank of which he was the director and major shareholder had set up an enormous money laundering operation. This so-called 'Troika Laundromat' mixed the millions in revenues of various Russian fraud cases with private assets of rich Russians, thus obscuring the origin of the money. MEPs from various political movements called on the European Commission to impose sanctions against Vardanyan.

Last info that I've got was that in New York mainly operated brigades with ties to Solntsevskaya and Izmailovskaya, this was from a guy who did time in US who I know personally. Then of course the latest are the Georgians from Razhden Shulayawhich were brought down. Shulaya got 45 years if I remember right. Then there was another brigade which leader is Aleksei Tsvetkov, but he is prison as well now.
They're into everything that they can earn from. Very rarely, you will come across groups which are into only one thing. And these groups probably will be either car jackers or credit card fraudsters in most cases.
I doubt there is one person in charge. Mostly the groups which are under Thieves in Law, will answer to them, but there's not one main leader in this group.
I would say they operate in a lot of areas. Brooklyn might be as the main area in the 70's till 90's. But there's lots of other groups in other states in US, like Florida, California, New Jersey, etc.

Europe is booming now from Russian and other ethnic groups from ex-USSR countries. Georgians, Chechens and Armenians are the top groups that are known currently in Europe. Then there comes Russians from Baltic countries and also very known are Lithuanian groups, especially in car theft sphere.
Wasn't Mogilevich removed from that list in 2015?

Abkhazians (though most of those seem to be of ethnic Georgian origin as well): 9 vors

FOUR GEORGIANS ARRESTED OVER CASINO ROULETTE SCAM
By Zack Newmark on November 7, 2019 - 15:10

Police in Venlo arrested four men accused of ripping off the Holland Casino location there. The suspects were also persons of interest in similar crimes investigated by Interpol, and may have targeted other casinos in Europe including in the Netherlands.

Officers said the suspects tried to manipulate the results of an automatic roulette machine by first breaking the lid, then lifting the glass off the game. “After that, the ball was probably stopped in the ‘right’ box after which it registered a ‘win,’” police said in a statement.

“A large sum of money was seized from the suspects, as well as uncashed vouchers that they had ‘won.’”

All four suspects are from the nation of Georgia. Through the course of the investigation, police said they discovered that the crew may have hit other locations in the Netherlands and in Europe. They had also drawn the attention of international policing organization Interpol.

The Dutch police said they work with their counterparts in other countries, as well as Interpol and Europe to tackle mobile banditry, a term used for international criminal groups that work across borders. The suspected crews are often linked to burglaries, thefts, pickpocketing, and fraud.

“Today, the crooks bet at the wrong casino and outbid themselves. The ‘house’ has won, and to speak in Monopoly terms, the crooks have drawn the ‘Go Directly to Jail,’ card,” police said in a tongue-in-cheek statement.

Re: Russian Mafia - 02/23/24 01:11 AM

Intelligence experts are sounding alarms over what appears to be a shift in Moscow's modus operandi. High-profile cases, such as the poisonings of Alexander Litvinenko and Sergei Skripal, no longer stand as outliers but as part of a broader, more aggressive strategy. This strategy, emboldened perhaps by the invasion of Ukraine, signals a Russia ready to deal with its defectors not in the shadows, but in the light of day, using methods that leave no doubt as to their origin.

What's particularly alarming is the choice of tools for these dark deeds. The use of distinctive Russian ammunition and poisons doesn't just ensure the job is done; it sends a clear, chilling message of intimidation and retribution. This audacity suggests a Kremlin that, far from fearing a diplomatic backlash, seems to revel in it, leveraging organized crime networks for plausible deniability even as it makes its involvement unmistakably clear.
