The Long Rise and Fast Fall of New York’s Black Mafia

Re: New York Black Mafia - 12/28/17 07:25 PM

The article was bland and rehashed as usual. The article didn't touch upon other known racketeers during each era. It's well known that Black racketeers have been in the wholesale distribution in Cocaine/Crack era and prostitution racket in Black communities is obviously still actively under their control. Corrupt public officials did take their money and still currently. What's missing is the other raxkets such as Arms-Trafficking, Money Laundering, Chop Shops, Counterfeiting, & frauds.

They need more researchers and column writers from the other side of the tracks per say.

I agree with you about information being rehashed in different articles.
Do you know of any good books that have been written about these other known Black racketeers or do you feel there is not enough material written about them ?

You have black criminal organizations that's doing it right, as long as your not selling drugs and pussy in the streets the feds don't care...Thiers black gambling houses and in-house escorts all over the place but it's much more sexier to bust the Italian Mafia

Policy Kings
Black Brothers Inc
I haven't been reading other titles but those 2 are informative. And yes there's isn't much written material pre-60s due to bigotry but post-60s increase the amount of research. Yet considerable amount into Street Gangs. I would check out Almighty Black P Stones too. Their history includes a small interactions with the Chicago Outfit.

Quote:
The criminal justice system in this country is a very European-based system that was racist. They were the ones that took black gangsters out, not the Italians. It was the FBI who didn’t want to see a black mob succeed more than the Mafia.

This quote from the article by T.J. English reminds me of what that racist DEA director said to Ritchie Roberts in American Gangster:
"No ni**er has accomplished what the American mafia hasn't in a hundred years."

According to Roberts this was really said to him by a government bigwig, who he didn't mention by name, to avoid a lawsuit I'd reckon.

Re: New York Black Mafia - 12/29/17 12:06 AM

Black gangsters never had the inroads to government and law enforcement that Italian and Irish gangsters had. Jewish gangsters were affiliated with Italians so that was their 'Get out of Jail Free' card. The reason Black gangsters were never able to form an organized crime group similar to Cosa Nostra is the same reason Cosa Nostra never caught on in the west coast, despite the area being ripe with money and corruption. They were shut out by government officials and law enforcement. In NY the Italian gangsters had Tammany Hall. In California they had redneck Willie Parker who thought Italians were just another minority. Black gangsters were met with this roadblock nationwide.

Also another major reason, perhaps the biggest, is that their originally an exported criminal society. They been active since prior to the Civil War unlike the Jewish & Irish criminal associations.

The future's here. Instead of using the "Mafia" i prefer Syndicate. There's plenty of Black crime syndicates active now in metropolitan cities involved in a myriad of activities.

Re: New York Black Mafia - 01/10/18 02:42 AM

Are there many black gangsters involved in 'white collar'or conventional mafia rackets? There's was a documentary series I use to watch about black gangsters and they were all basically just drug dealers and a few pimps
I dont remenber any book makers, loan sharks,or anything like that

Yes, except labor racketeering ( that im aware of). The focus on the drug racket in those documentaries is due to the profits. It's a market which can quickly earn large so the competition is plentiful. Those that rise or expand the most receive the most attention generally. Lessor degree but still profitable in regards to prosituition.

.

No. I mean there's various Black criminal groups involved in different rackets. Similar in regards to England's Firms but here in the U.S there referred to in generally as Criminal/Racketeering Enterprises, Crime Groups, Syndicates, or Crews. The structure of these groups varys yet some have tight-knit family based structure. Activities varies by groups from drug trafficking to fraud.
