$500,000 on ANYONE'S head is such a fantasy.....If an average Joe was able to whack a high value target like Pistone, who the heck does he go to see?

An average Joe is not gonna be able to set up a sit down with anyone that has the ability to pay that amount AND, they are criminals. If you try and collect, they will tell you 1 of 3 things:

#1 Fu*k off, you ain't getting sh*t!...We will let you live as your reward.
#2 Give you a few thousand for your effort.
#3 Whack you instead of having to pay anything. (Kuklinski's supposed method)

They would tell him to fuck off then they would probably contact the fbi.If that ever happaned it would make national news even though hes been retired for over 30 years.

All those Pistone was involved with are dead or in jail.
Not in ANYONE's interest to whack him after all these years.
The publicity alone would be a nightmare!

Yes. The Commission doesn't have a "war chest," or an "army," dedicated to punishing Mafia foes, much less law enforcement. And, the only thing Dons have in common is greed and distrust of each other. Why would a Don of another family pony up a dime to avenge a stupid mistake made by the Bonannos, when they didn't even have a seat on the Commission?
