Atlantic City - 07/19/17 09:15 PM

What's up fellas . Off topic but heading to Borgata tomorrow and Fri for some celebrating

Haven't been to AC in 2 years and I've been there a bunch but since I'm treating for dinner ( and / or a lunch ) any suggestions for a good eating spot with drinking ( combonornine of either hot chicks , nice layout i like chick and old school , up beat atmosphere etc. ). I'm 38 and love old school Grandma style Italian food .

Looking for good food obviously but not super high priced and a overall life is good type vibe if you get my drift lol . I know we have a bunch of regulars on here so figured I'd ask . Thanks in advance

A couple old Atlantic City cops one Italian one Jewish are doing a radio show from Patsys in NYC tomorrow. These guys were friendly cops the Italian guy Bobby was Skinny D’Amato son in-law married to Paula Jane .

Anyway they are doing it with Joe Pesci

These two got all the cushy jobs with the brat pack and Bobby was Frank Sinatra bodyguard while he was in AC many times these stars wound up in Ducktown for a few reasons even after the 500 club way after matter of fact .

The stars would come down to Ducktown for restaurants and a card room or social club that some cops were aloud in but many of times they would be in White House subs Bobby and Merrell Worked there also as security at the door.

I did not ask what the radio show is about but sure it’s about Sinatra and the boys and the stories that go along with it.

I looked up the Yelp page on AC restaurants:
https://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=italian&find_loc=ATLANTIC+CITY%2C+NJ
Anthony Bourdain a few years ago liked Tony's Baltimore--his meal in the restaurant looked very good. White House Subs is a local legend.

I can remember back to around 1958 in Ducktown we had good bars restaurants and pool halls and social clubs the 500 club being the drawl to get the stars out of the hotels and away from the piers where many started there stardom.

Baltimore grill was owed by a Italian family recently sold . They have kept same menu and are one of the last of the spots we grew up in along with White House and they have not been the same last 20 years since the owner Tony passed and all of the old crew left him just before his death , nothing is the same in Atlantic City nothing.

Angeloni’s is still in Ducktown and great. He’s a relatively “new” kid on the block though opening in early 80s. AC has a great dining scene still as long as you eat outside of the Casinos.

Scannichio’s at Lefty’s Tavern is a fucking Home Run of a joint too!

Yeah Dante it’s how all of Ducktown used to be and yes Allen is the new guy and possibly the soul survivor.

I get that there is no way for you to get what that area was , being on a island we knew everyone in every job at every level it was fucken great.

She has twin sisters one is married to Phil and Phil tells everyone that his wife’s name is Maria it’s not and she has a twin I knew both since thy came from Philly just young kids they lived on Arctic ave. for years next to a pretty famous candy shop that was more then a candy store back to Nucky’s days .

They moved around the corner around 78 on to Georgia ave and it’s then the guys started to notice her and her twin sister a few years later Phil noticed her because she started dating some locals and of course she was with Vince now and then but he was married.

The sister older then Chet ( Concetta) but younger then the twins Mary waitressed and later bartender at Angeloni’s and later Chet waitressed also way before Louie.

Yes I was able to obtain a table there on Fourth of July Night 6 years ago with my girlfriend with huge tits at the time. It’s BYOB and make sure u get the Bone in Veal Parm. I had to dupe the guy a handful of sawbucks to get a table there that night, I came there drunk off the beach From Ventura’s Tiki Bar in Margate dripping wet & sandy and handed him a fistful of Sawbucks and was able to get me in that night. A very great meal, there’s about 10-12 tables in there and it’s in a house .

Absolute Smokeshow barmaid there who is dating the younger brother of the broad who was from Philly on Mobwives Show (sorry don’t watch the show ) . They’re all from Italy , last name is Iovino all of them and their family works there. Gino Iovino has an Italian Menshop on the pier shops in AC across from Ceasars with all $500 Versace shirts for sale in it so that’s what ur thinking about , no there’s no Versace store in the basement there at Girasole. They’re into fashion at Girasole. I would eat at Scannichio’s or Angeloni’s over Girasole if you’re just going for great food.

Re: Atlantic City - 12/13/19 05:23 PM

Mobwives, you talking about Natalie? Her pops died not too long ago. Good man. Worked at Gangemi after he was at Carto and married to the daughter. I think. Aren't they Leonetti relatives?

No we rarely change up for where we go unles it comes highly recommended .

There are several casinos restaurants that I have not been to nowadays. But in 70’ s through late 90’s I ate at all and stayed at all and seen every show and almost every fight in casinos or convention hall (Boardwalk Hall) dam shame really really is .

Think the last big outdoor show we did was Borgata we were invited to Velvet Revolver and that’s been a long time.

City has plenty of space and government is so fucken lost because there is no pool of folks to pick from you have a hand full of people that doesn’t even pay there taxis let alone quality people for government and it shows.

Re: Atlantic City - 12/14/19 01:48 AM

Serp, what are the odds of a group of young, tight knit picciotti going to AC, and turning the town back to it's glory? Do you think there would be resistance from the philly brass? Can they operate without kicking up or doing so without being controlled?

A couple of weeks ago the Hard Rock basically called AC a dump. I wish I could post it but I dont know how! There pissed off they spend aot of money going to Ac and along Pacific ave is still shit. Broken street lights and hookers etc.

If anybody gets to Ac in the summer they should check out Hard rocks beach bar. Great spot on a hot summer day

Re: Atlantic City - 02/03/20 11:21 PM

Flamingo

They are dead on ! When the city was bringing in more money then any other state AC was rebuilding north jersey infant structure right down to highways and bridges.

It was also being pissed away by local politicians .... what the state didn’t rob the city did .....it’s a fucken pigsty .

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 02:42 AM

Is that Italian joint still upstairs in Ceasers...that was pretty good.

Also on the steel pier in that mall, there was a great Italian Resturant upstairs.

Have not been there in years but would like to go back one day.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 02:46 AM

That italian restaurant at ceasars is one i frequented often, it was called Primavera. Very good food. I dont think its there any longer.
Medici in Sands was also good as was Martino’s in either claridge or show boat, i forget. It was good though.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 02:53 AM

I always enjoyed the buffet upstairs at the Wild West Casino in Bally's, Or Pickels for Lunch.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 02:53 AM

i thought that steel pier thing is the ugliest thing on the whole boardwalk. why the fuck did they build the thing it divieds the beach and its in the water all i can think was all this shit leaking out of there rite were im swimming the need to nuke that thing. why would you block the view of the beach. like sunset you look up just see that big thing connected to mgm or whatever that casino is.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 02:54 AM

actually i never went swimming rite there, we went over the bridge to bridgetine or whatever its called.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 11:31 AM

They cannot fix it ....

It’s so fucked up that not one kid other thenones that get checks from the city have raised there children there.

It’s so fucked up that not one caucasian that was raised here went on to have children and there children are here and are going to raise there children here ..... not ! since the 70’s has this happened,

The people that live on south side and Chelsea heights and down toward Ventnor are the only tax payers that support the city .

If you live a couple blocks before Ventnor in a small house your taxes are 10 - 12 thousand a year ! For what shit schools and shit parents that use schools as babysitters.....place is disgusting !

There were only a few things that kept the city a float and they been gone for thirty years .....it’s over

I always wondered how the old Italians knew to get out in 76 and they were so right to get out and with in ten or twenty yes there is was nobody from Atlantic City any more .....they are all transients and people I don’t recognize or can not see because they are in all black with only eye slots ...... transients and junkies is all I see.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 09:06 PM

The best Italian joint in AC is Angeloni’s II in Ducktown on Georgia Ave (few doors down from Scarfo’s old house on North Georgia Ave) . Don’t ever eat inside the casinos, they are rip offs and the quality sucks for what you are paying for. The same goes with the bars.
Posted By: majicrat

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 09:41 PM

There isn't a thriving Italian community in ANY big NJ city anymore. The suburbs like East Hanover and Nutley is where most live. Unfortunately, AC (Ducktown) is no different than Newark (the first Ward and as well 16th Ave, Camden (which I know little about regarding the Italian community), Jersey City (the Village), Trenton (Chambersburg) etc are all gone and never coming back. Just my two cents

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 11:25 PM

Dante
The italian restaurants( most ) in the casino’s were very good back in the day, up until the late 90’s.
Now?? Not so much. I agree.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/04/20 11:47 PM

Club Madrid

Was what used to be were Angeloni’s is now and Dante is right about most casinos restaurants and back in 80’s the restaurants that came were run by very good chefs until time and money got in the picture and casinos promoted from within and got rid of all the expensive chefs that they used to have to employ to get a good restaurant going.

Club Madrid some of my blood worked there and a few Ducktown chefs came threw there then Alam A father and brother came down from Trenton and opened up # II but it was for Alan the entire time but his father put a side his very lucrative custom home building career to get the restaurant off and running .

Funny thing the old man stayed and when he did go home he semi retired a couple years later and was back in Ducktown.

Great days !

And Club Madrid seen much much more mob activity then Angeloni’s ever did .

Dante and Serp,
What your opinions of the Fairmount Tavern?
Posted By: DanteMoltisanti

Re: Atlantic City - 02/05/20 02:07 AM

I think Angeloni’s and Scannichio’s are both better than Angelo’s. Angelo’s is good but it’s not the best game in town, I rank it fourth best behind Angeloni’s, Scannichio’s , and Chef Vola’s in that order. Chef Vola’s is BYOB and tough to get into. If you go to Vola’s you gotta get the bone in veal parm. Angelo’s food is good though, it’s a very touristy place though.

Frozen food not all but many and same with other stuff not made from scratch. Surprised it’s so busy because most people can tell can sauce to home made.

Same deal with the wine they used to get and pour it into a cleat bottle withthere logo put on it Ang sr. actually got busted ( by ABC ) selling Taylor wine in his bottle and telling everyone it’s made there.

The wine was made there but not since the 60’s.

And trust me my blood runs deep in most if not all businesses that were in Ducktown since the 20’s.

You know the pasta not fresh let alone made there ...the little things.

It’s mostly fake.....

Re: Atlantic City - 02/05/20 03:41 PM

Baldo

His entire family was / is from Trenton and opened Angeloni’s one we would go there with Alan and his boys from Trenton and would have a meal and hit the town up there , it was mainly small joints that he took us but still Alan was accepted quickly in Ducktown.

He did marry a local girl from down beach But her parents were Ducktown folks and they had a couple kids and raised them in EHT just off Zion rd.

Re: Atlantic City - 02/05/20 07:56 PM

I have never actually eaten at Girasole. Been to the bar there, absolute smokeshow barmaid there who is dating the brother of the broad from Mobwives Alicia. Place is very nice inside, been meaning to eat there. Maybe I will this weekend. Family that owns it is off the boat Italy from Naples area I believe. Heard the pizza is great there.

Chef Vola’s is the difficult joint to get into as they only have about 10 tables and keep their phone off the hook. If u want to get into Chef Vola’s my advice is to show up there during the day and ask them what time they can fit you in. I got in that way once on Fourth of July , I also handed the guy a few sawbucks and enjoyed supper there on Fourth of July 2012 with my big breasted GF at the time. Get the Bone in Veal Parm there it’s to die for and the place is BYOB which is awesome when you’re a highly functioning alcoholic like me.
Posted By: Serpiente

Re: Atlantic City - 02/05/20 09:54 PM

You have to go in back kitchen door during day if you are trying to get in Vola’s they are there early but only one family member will be there before 3:00 ish and just be polite it goes a long way Louie and Chet won’t get the before 3:00 unless something up or busy nite coming.

Re: Atlantic City - 04/26/20 01:19 AM

He just confirmed what i said ..... Bruno did not send him to AC...... fucken GA my ass

Phil saved some pictures and he is showing

He admitted to being in on killing Pepe L dam , we always knew but it never came out .

He told it .... about Salvie he( Nick ) was jealous.... and used Chuckie daughter as a reason.

OMG Phil told the real truth about Mark hanging himself and reason was all his fathers fault....even left it in his death note , the neighborhood knew what death note said .... it came out quick on the block but we always kept it quiet.

He dont want the attention or the money otherwise there would be a movie or a Netflix series ,

We herd about this but didn’t know it was this .... thought for sure it was some other news about another book or show.

Re: Atlantic City - 04/26/20 07:17 PM

Hey @Serp, I always read a lot of this but the 2 questions I have for you are, 1) the rumor that he was banished to Atlantic City after he murdered a guy in the Oregon Diner is false? 2) was Phil's life really that boring? And he claims he wasn't flashy is that true?
Posted By: Serpiente

Re: Atlantic City - 04/26/20 10:34 PM

Ive been posting that Nick was NOT banished to AC since i got on internet when i found this site .... no he was not and Phil confirmed .

Philip was flashy but not like the NY club guys . He did go out but not to clubs and he didn’t have a bunch of girls all over . He was a restaurant bar guy .... he would eat out and have drinks at the bar before and after.

Like I always said Yogi was the one that would come out with us often and sometimes Phil would show and have a couple and get Yogi home .

Phil really only did shit when Nick was up in his apartment and done for the evening, but there was many many evenings that Nick was away or doing nothing and Phil had a kind of a normal night.

You know there was times that I didn’t see Nick for a couple weeks and he was in the compound . So Phil had time he was not a party animal by no means.

Phil loved the life and he was all in ... till Salvie .

You have to remember i was just a neighborhood guy but i was there from beginning to end but most of this was going on and we knew nothing.....but as soon as something happened we knew the truth with in a day .... it was a neighborhood thing.... like twenty of us on the block every day.

But I thought that Salvie was killed for more then what Phil just told ... I always thought it was for Chuckie and drugs .... but i was lied to all those years back.
