Fat Tony Salerno

Fat Tony Salerno - 06/05/17 02:10 AM

I was reading on mafia wiki about Fat Tony the other day and it stated that at the time of his arrest for the commission trial he had a net worth of $53 billion. That has to be a misprint right? Tom Allen of Microsoft doesn't even have that much.

The Five Families combined don't take in $53 billion.

The same thing said he also had 25000 people working for him, and 3000 hit men on his payroll... Utter nonsense... Lol

I doubt it is even $53 million dollars which would make it over $100 million dollars by todays value.

Fat Tony did make the Forbes list of riches men in America. 53 Billion dollars? That is doubtful as if he had that much money, he would have retired and gave a small tribute to the Genovese family.

Forbes?

Did they trace all his finances and assets?....probably not.

Forbes wouldn't have a clue about his wealth.

I didn't think so. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who thought the amount was insane

That number is ludicrous. Never trust mafiawiki!

I always see big numbers being thrown out with Fat Tony. Exaggerations aside, he must have been very rich. Vincent Cafaro said he was giving Salerno approximately a million a year from the numbers in Harlem and he'd been involved in that for decades. And that's just one racket!

http://www.nytimes.com/1973/05/18/archiv...s-leg.html?_r=0
According to this article, Salerno was caught on wiretap saying he had $80-million in loans outstanding (580 that they have written is a typo. In the print version it says 80). That has to be wrong. That's 438-million in today's money.

Well, Paul Castellano was a Billionaire allegedly. Of course a lot of it would've been from his legitimate businesses.

Read he had a house or condo in that place rite across from gramercy park. It would be worth millions today alone. When he would holf court at the social club he stayed there then on weekends he go upstate to his farm. He bought of mkrris levy who also sold chin his upper eastside palace. That guy was the golden goose.

In the early Seventies, Hank Messick wrote an unauthorized bio of Meyer Lansky and claimed he was the boss of organized crime, worth $300 million. Both were insane exaggerations, but they stuck. Robert Lacey, who wrote an outstanding bio of Lansky, said he was worth no more than $5-6 million at his peak, and died almost broke.

@ MightyDR

Now that I DID see before, here, on the boards in a thread about Jersey OC

I don't find it THAT far fetched, he had his hand in big time cash money rackets for decades in Harlem, I think that was Trigger Mikes crew? So the ORIGINAL Terranova crew. Those Harlem crews, IMO, were the mobs biggest earning crews with street based operations.

That's right, from what I've read he took over Trigger Mike's operation. I suppose with all the money that crew would have accumulated over the years it could be plausible.
