Longest serving and, still alive and active?

Longest serving and, still alive and active? - 07/04/16 07:06 PM

I believe I know who is the longest serving member, still alive and active. He also is the oldest one too I think:
Sonny Franzese - Made in late 1930's and is either 99 or 97 years old.
I will assume Sonny got made in 1938, which would give him 78 years of service.

Also know that Harry the hunchback served for almost 73 years but he is dead.

I find this topic interesting because I fully understand how a young kid could become enticed and brainwashed by the allure of it all but, cannot understand how these older guys do not see the writing on the wall about their own mortality. Maybe, just maybe, if they accept the fact that they were wrong for so long and, ask God for forgiveness, their may be life after death for them.

Even the vicious gangster Tony Spilotro, chose to ask for forgiveness at the hour of his death by asking his killers if they would let him say a prayer before they kill him.

So, besides those 2, what others can I add to the list?
Even interested if Furio knows of anyone from his country who can fit this category.

Albert Gallo - Been part of the life, since the 1950's. Still active?

Carmine Persico - In prison, but he's been part life since the 1950's, and has been at least the defacto Boss of the Colombo's since the early 70's.

Larry Dentico - Is he still active? If he is he's been part of the life since the 1940's.

Richie Biordo - Part of the life from the 1910's till he died in 1984?

I agree, I believe Franzese was made sometime in the late 40's. There are reports he was a captain the mid 50's under Profaci.

Wiki states this:
Raised in New York City, in the late 1930s Franzese joined the Profaci crime family (later named the Colombo crime family) under boss Joseph Profaci. Franzese bore a close physical resemblance to boxer Rocky Marciano, one of his friends. His first arrest came in 1938, for assault.[7] In 1942, in the midst of World War II, he was discharged from the United States Army because he displayed '"homicidal tendencies"[7][8] Although never being arrested for it, court papers accused him of committing rape in 1947

Now I know that Wiki isn't always right but unless someone talks to him personally, I treat it as true.....Wiki also states "joining"....I related the word to being made, not an assoiciate.
