To be the devil advocate, maybe the russians or others killed the victim in this mode so the police will give all the blame to the italians.

Re: Body with concrete shoes in Brooklyn - 05/04/16 04:11 PM

@furio.... to be not the devil's advocate but the logical voice of reason, maybe "the Russians" didn't do this to sway blame away and this had nothing to do with the Italian Mafia.

Maybe it was a argument gone wrong between two people with no organized criminal connections...

Allday27 maybe you're right but because a man that accidently kill a people must use the concrete shoes ? why don't bury him or simple throw him in the river ?

Read the victim had a virgin mary tattoo. From my knowledge of Russian mobster from watching the Americans on fx they don't believe in religion. And are atheists. So I'm guessing it was probably the Colombo's.

You're right. A witness reported seeing a man in a wheelchair rolling away when the police showed up. It fits. Sonny's in a halfway house.

Re: Body with concrete shoes in Brooklyn - 05/05/16 04:16 AM

The body has been confirmed as 28 year old Peter Martinez, a high ranking Crip connected to the GS9 Crew outta Brooklyn, not Russian or Italian. G-Stone Crips New York. Same crew rappers "Bobby Shmurda & Rowdy Rebel" operated within and have been held without bail for the past two years in pending connection to. Both rappers and alleged gang members are now suing the NYPD for false arrest and unlawful detainment. This murder was purely gang related, and strictly about owed debt. Martinez was reported to have been missing for three weeks owed lots of money to several different people allegedly, and also has a long standing record with 31 arrests having recently completed a two year prison sentence.

"Bobby Shmurda" has an upcoming trial May 11th, this will surely come up and be illuminated on.

So we now have the who, the what, the where, the when, the why, and the how.

The body surfaced because air was let into the cement buckets around his feet as they were not left to set properly. The victim was also found beaten with his face duct tapped and body wrapped in plastic.

Just read about this also on another site... Man that gs9 crew cannot catch a break haha. A couple of them were convicted of murder a few weeks back.. Now this just popped up in the middle of their already uphill legal battle... When it rains it pours.. One thing after another popping up to bury these guys .. No sympathy .. Just saying.

Cement Shoes Were an Urban Crime Myth—Until Now
A Brooklyn street gang member got a mob flick sendoff.
Cement overshoes have long figured in Mafia mythology, but until this week no cop in New York—or seemingly anywhere else in America—had seen them actually used to ensure a victim sleeps with the fishes.
Around 10:20 a.m. Monday, police learned via 911 that a Kingsborough Community College student had spied a body washed up on the Brooklyn shoreline. The body was that of was a 6-foot-1 male wrapped in black plastic contractors bags. His head was entirely covered with grey duct tape. His arms were bound behind him with rope.
And both his feet were embedded in a five-gallon black plastic bucket filled with hardened concrete up to mid-shin.

“I’ve actually never seen cement overshoes before,” a police commander said.
He wondered aloud if this was the work of the Mafia, myth made real.
The mere thought was immediately dismissed by a veteran Brooklyn detective well versed in the mob’s long history in the concrete industry.
“This isn’t the wise guys,” the detective said. “They do concrete better than this. This is a bullshit job!”
The detective’s experienced eye noted that the concrete was honeycombed with air pockets and was generally a less than practiced pour. His immediate appraisal that this was not the work of the Mafia seemed confirmed when the victim was identified.
He was Peter “Petey Crack” Martinez, said by police to be a senior member of the G Stone Crips. Other members of this Brooklyn street gang allegedly include the jailed rap star Bobby Shmurda.
Martinez had been reported missing on Feb. 5 by a lady friend, who told police that she had last seen him as he set off to get his hair braided. Detectives marveled at the perfect condition of Martinez’s braids after almost three months in the water.
“His hair is perfectly braided still,” the commander said. “It’s like he just stepped out of the salon. His fingers fell off, but his hair is beautiful still.”
The commander asked the detectives if there were any bullet wounds.
“Not new ones,” a detective replied.
Martinez had been shot in the leg back in 2008 and his assailant had been arrested. He himself had been arrested 31 times on charges that included burglary and using a forged instrument.
The exact cause of death was to be determined by an autopsy, but it seems that Martinez might very well have been alive when his head was wrapped with the duct tape.

“Like mummy style,” the commander said.
The detectives were not immediately able to determine if Martinez had been alive when his feet were stuck in the bucket. One reason cement overshoes had remained just a bit of gangland lore for so long is the problem of how to keep the victim’s feet immobile in the stuff until it hardens.
The commander noted that a rope tied the bucket to the body.
“But that doesn’t seem necessary,” the commander said.
However it was done, there was no denying that through the months in the water—which apparently included what would have been Martinez’s 28th birthday in March—his feet had remained solidly in the concrete despite the questionable quality of the pour.
“You could actually stand him up like a statue if you wanted,” the commander said. “Not that you would want to.”
The cement overshoes had apparently served their immediate purpose and Martinez had not just popped to the surface when the water warmed, as bodies often do in New York waters. He and his concrete overshoes seemed to have finally been dragged to Manhattan Beach by the strong currents in that particular area.
Back in 2011, a man was found actually wearing cement overshoes at the Antalya waterfalls in Turkey. But numerous other reports and rumors of cement overshoes in various countries over the years appear to have been unsubstantiated.
One might argue that the reason no cases have been confirmed is that cement overshoes have effectively caused bodies to disappear. But the Mafia has been riddled with so many high-level informants in recent years that at least one instance would almost certainly have come to light had there been any. Cement overshoes seemed to have been the stuff of street corner fantasies and tough guy novels.
Until now.
The police commander theorized that the killers had been acting out something they had seen in some mob flick.
“They wanted to be gangsters,” the commander suggested.
The cinematic effect was heightened by a large tattoo on the victim’s back.
“It is an image of the Virgin Mary with a rose,” Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said at a press briefing.
Boyce proved a master of terse summary after he described the black plastic and the duct tape and the feet “submerged in poured concrete.”
“Obviously a homicide,” Boyce said.
Martinez was found wearing a black jacket, grey sweatpants, and blue boxer shorts under the black plastic bags. The rental car he had on the day of his disappearance had been found abandoned. There are several theories as to why he had met his particular end, ranging from gang rivalry to a drug deal gone bad to an unpaid debt to a failed scam.
The commander was able to make one deduction with some confidence about the man who wore New York’s first cement overshoes on record.
“He pissed somebody off,” the commander said.

No it is hilarious. I especially like this line from the detective.

The mere thought was immediately dismissed by a veteran Brooklyn detective well versed in the mob’s long history in the concrete industry.

It's true. The five families did have the "Concrete Club" back in the day! lol

Wonder who in the crew had a boat? Or did they walk out on a jeti or pier and throw him in. Then he body washed up. And you wonder if his killers have a few more guys out in the ocean. Remember the feds leaked to all the papers that Colombo underboss was in the ocean. They were way off they found him in a hole.

Re: Body with concrete shoes in Brooklyn - 05/05/16 06:20 PM

The detective called it a poor quality and yet it was a successul job. He been missing since February and now appears on shore. Viewers don't know how often this method is used but automatically assume it's LCN related, LoL, goes to show that various criminal groups use the same tactics. G-Stone 90s still active and haven't been decimated yet.

It was probably a funny idea they had whilst they were beating him.

Re: Body with concrete shoes in Brooklyn - 05/06/16 12:39 AM

He owed a large debt and somebody decided to make him pay. This was a methodical killing in which the assailants took their time. The GS9 are known for their overt shootings and a few quiet ones. They chose to go through the cement shoes tactic when it's obviously they could of execution style via headshot. A quiet route probably meant serious business and perhaps a rival group ( Folks Nation/GDs, etc) is responsible for his death.

I don't know about concrete shoes, but in the Valachi Papers, Joe Valachi talks about putting a guy in an oil drum and filling it with concrete and dumping it in the East River.

Whatever message they were trying to send has backfired.

This is a story getting a lot of coverage and with so many surveillance cameras working 24/7 in NY and especially around waterways...gonna be heat on law enforcement to actually try to solve this case.

Re: Body with concrete shoes in Brooklyn - 05/06/16 08:31 PM

This is actually the first documented case of this particular style of execution. Definitely up their with the colombian necktie especially if he was alive when they threw him in the water.

Is GS9 that big as in terms of numbers?

Re: Body with concrete shoes in Brooklyn - 05/06/16 08:44 PM

Scorsese,

Mostly Bloods in NY...so crips don't have the numbers.....and gs9 is not a big set. The sets take on the personality/reputation of the area they were formed in and Flatbush section of Brooklyn has been a violent place since before the crack era...

Heavy Caribbean population.

thanks. this sounds more like he was killed by a drugs supplier than a rival gang.

GS9 isn't big, but GS9 is merely a subset of the G-Stone Crips, which have a pretty big presence in Brooklyn and Long Island. They're mainly a Brooklyn set, but they've managed to venture outside of Brooklyn and set up in Queens and Nassau County.

Anybody remember the old movie where there is a scene where they kill a guy with concrete shoes? I saw a movie like that on TV when I was a kid, but I don't remember the name of it.

GS9 member Santino Boderick aka Cueno, sentenced to 130 years

http://www.snpnyc.org/santino-boderick-sentenced-117-%c2%bd-130-years-prison-role-gs9-gang-warfare/

Bridget G. Brennan, New York City’s Special Narcotics Prosecutor, announced today the sentencing of SANTINO BODERICK, 23, to 117 ½ to 130 years in prison for his role in gang warfare between the Brooklyn street crew “GS9” and multiple rivals, which resulted in shootings in New York City and Miami.

On November 18, 2016, BODERICK was convicted at trial of 23 counts, including charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and Reckless Endangerment in the First and Second Degrees.

Under the sentence imposed by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott, penalties for Conspiracy in the Second Degree, five counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree are to run consecutively. Sentences on all other counts are to run concurrently.

Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan said, “Santino Boderick was convicted of multiple incidents involving shocking violence, and which reflected utter disregard for human life. The sentence imposed on him today will protect the community, and appropriately punish behavior that terrorized countless innocent people .”

As proven at trial, BODERICK, aka “Cueno,” was a member of GS9, a street crew based in East Flatbush Brooklyn, and conspired to engage in a pattern of gang-related violence between January of 2013 and December of 2014. Much of the violence detailed at trial stemmed from an ongoing dispute with members of the rival gangs “Brooklyn’s Most Wanted,” or “BMW,” and “Folk Nation.” The gang sold narcotics to make money, some of which went towards gun purchases.

Evidence proved BODERICK was present at four shootings, including three in which he himself was a shooter. The jury convicted BODERICK with possessing three guns on which his DNA was found.

Members of GS9 also performed in a rap group know by the same name. As violence escalated, they sought to shoot members of rival crews, often discussing their efforts and plotting attacks in recorded phone conversations with incarcerated GS9 members. Retaliatory shootings took place in New York City and Miami, where gang members recklessly shot into crowds of innocent bystanders.

Evidence presented at trial included testimony from law enforcement officers and experts, medical examiners, and multiple civilian witnesses, as well as surveillance video, recorded phone conversations, social media postings, DNA and ballistics evidence.

In the most serious charge he face, BODERICK was convicted in the attempted murder of a rival gang member on July 27, 2014 at the intersection of Hoyt and Dean Streets in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. BODERICK emerged from a car with a loaded 9mm firearm and shot at the rival, who had raced into a Zipcar and sped away. At least three shots were fired, two of which struck the rear of the vehicle on a trajectory that would take the bullets into the driver seat.

This shooting occurred just hours before members of GS9 performed at the Barclay Center a few minutes’ drive away. BODERICK was videotaped dancing on the court at the Barclay Center with MARSHALL and other members of GS9 wearing the same clothes he had worn during the shooting.

BODERICK was also convicted of with three Conspiracy charges: Conspiracy in the Second Degree (to commit Murder in the Second Degree) and two counts of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree (to commit Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree).

Evidence of the defendant’s participation in the Hoyt and Dean Streets shooting supported these conspiracy charges, as did his involvement in another shooting in Miami, Fla. On October 11, 2014, GS9 members brought their gang-related dispute to South Beach when they spotted a rival on Ocean Drive. BODERICK was present as another member of GS9, fired shots into a crowd and through a window of the club Fat Tuesdays, causing club patrons to dive for cover. BODERICK was also found guilty of charges related to his firing multiple shots outside of the Social Butterfly nightclub, located at 857 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, in the early morning hours of October 27, 2014.

In the early morning hours of December 17, 2014, GS9 members were arrested by the NYPD in a coordinated citywide operation. Evidence proved that BODERICK possessed one of multiple guns held by gang members in the vicinity of Quad Recording Studios, located at 723 7th Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. BODERICK’s DNA was found on this weapon.

Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan thanks the jury for its service and commended Assistant District Attorneys Nigel Farinha, Susan Lanzatella and Thomas Wright, and Trial Preparation Assistant Christopher Torres, for their work on the case. Special Narcotics Prosecutor Brennan also thanked the New York City Police Department’s (NYPD) Brooklyn South Violence Reduction Task Force, the Miami Beach Police Department and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office.
