Re: Colombo Family's New Jersey faction - 11/12/15 06:11 AM

Thats a good question do they even have a NJ crew? I cant think of any NJ capo besides Sal Profaci and him beingn caught on the Stanfa/Avena tapes..not sure if hes dead or still in the can

Side note in relation to NJ but whos the Gambinos NJ leader/top capo? Thought I read it was Andrew Merola but I believe hes locked up currently..anyone know if its still him or if someone else replaced him in an acting capacity of his crew? Thought id ask since were talkin bout 5 families and their NJ faction leaders and weve discussed the Genovese, Lukes and even Bonnanos recently??

Merola was only acting. Funzi Sisca is the top guy in Jersey.

I dont think the colombos have had an actual crew in jersey since john pate flipped, though they probably have some guys active here but no real crew anymore. Sal profaci is still alive but hes been shelved for years.

Re: Colombo Family's New Jersey faction - 11/12/15 03:57 PM

It was jimmy randazzo, then ray cagno. I think its all ny now but bear in mind, old bridge. Manalapan, marlboro, and freehold have a lot of brooklyn and staten islanders and a few colombos live in that area.
Back in the 80's, one of the campisi's was made as a colombo.

I don't usually reply or post but I want to ask Belmont which Campisi? I never heard that a Newark Campisi was a Columbo, only made guy as far I know was Na Na in the Genovese family. They were always known to be their own group as far as I know anyway. Thanks.

I want to Petey but i am not sure. I do know one was with the colombo's. I thought it was strange as well. He was found in the trunk of a car.

Re: Colombo Family's New Jersey faction - 11/16/15 08:38 PM

I was always under the impression Tiny Manzo was killed for his indiscretions against the Genovese family and when I was discussing this with a few of my older friends who I know are fairly smart on these issues, I was told it was done due to his actions along with P. Campisi who was also killed. However, they insisted they were with the Genovese, not the Columbo's. Anyone know different?

Yes, they were affiliated with the genovese but one was around the colombo's, i forget which Campisi. This was in the 80's.

Good article I found from 1999 on all mob activities in the Garden State, family by family breakdown:

Dante, on point again. Good link, thanks bud.

Great quote about Joey, haha:

''I honestly don't know who so many people are seeking his demise,'' said his lawyer, Joseph C. Santaguida of Philadelphia. ''He's really a likeable guy.''

Re: Colombo Family's New Jersey faction - 12/15/15 04:43 AM

Pogo posted this a while back...

Colombo New Jersey Crew:

Salvatore Lombardino Sr. (19??-1960s)
John Misuraca (1960s-1970s)
-Misuraca was the UnderBoss from 1962-1963.
Salvatore “Tutti” Lombardino Jr. (1970s-1977) Demoted.
Salvatore Profaci Jr. (1977-1989) Demoted.
-Salvatore “Tutti” Lombardino (1980s-1989) Stepped Down.
John Pate (1989-1993) Imprisoned/Flipped.
James “Jimmy” Randazzo (1993) Killed.
-It appears that this crew was disbanded after Randazzo was killed.

This was a good article. Thank you for posting. I look at the numbers mentioned at the end of the article, for each family strength in Jersey:

Genovese - 11 made members
Colombo - 3 made members
Philly - 5 made members
Gambinos - 3 made members (plus the cherry hill group)
DeCavalcante - 25 to 30 made members

So the DeCavs outnumber all the others.

I would have guessed the Genovese and Lukes at 40 or 50 members each in New Jersey alone (in 1999).

Do you or anyone else have the Jaguar tapes in entirety?....All I have heard was short clips in documentaries.

Any juicy stuff said on those tapes like, Avellino bragging about nailing Castellano's sister or, bad mouthing another boss?

Shocking article on Jersey, numbers ridiculously low. It's the NYPost though, what do you expect?

That's the NY Times, arguably the best newspaper in the world.

The numbers are ridiculous.

Not disagreeing. Clearly they are too low. But it isn't the NY Post.

Yeah, I'm not sure where those figures come from. The 2004 New Jersey OC report had the Genovese family at about 40 members in the state. That's very believable considering how many crews they have there. The figures seem rather low all around.

Yea I have to agree w ivy and others that the numbers stated are definitely low...the article stated I thought 3 NJ Genovese crews is that right? I thought it was always 4?

Side note but a Genovese capo that is never talked Bout but I assume bc he is very low key and a serious earner/power is Ninni Bruschi..anyone know more about him? Theres legit not much about him online..is he the Genovese skipper out in Toms river? Know they're always active in Ocean cty from previous readings..any insight would be appreciated as always fellas

It's Petey Black you're thinking of...Not sure if he was actually made with the Colombo's, but he was very close and had business dealings (loansharking/bar..etc) with Ray Cagno, who was a Colombo member.

Couple other NJ Colombos....

Gus "Buddy" Spatafora
Joe Leone
Dominic "Doode" Prosperi

Re: Colombo Family's New Jersey faction - 12/16/15 02:33 PM

It's very easy to mix-up the Campisi's, since they had many Peter's in their family.

Peter "Pipi" Campisi that you're thinking of Belmont was found stuffed in the trunk of a car in Manhattan with $20 dollar bills scattered all over it. Him and Tiny Manzo were accused of skimming from a mob casino on Staten Island.

Peter "Petey Black" who worked close with Cagno, died from chocking on a piece of lobster at a Father's Day dinner in 2002.

It reminds me of Goodfellas, how everybody was named Peter or Paul and married to women named Marie. lol

The Jaguar tapes and the Stanfa/Avena tapes are two different things from two different investigations...And nothing really of note on the Jaguar tapes that we don't already know. Basically just how Avellino felt about inducting his son.
