My mates dad lives here in the states. Said the mafia here is very active and infiltrates loads of legitimate businesses. He's a well off middle class guy but says it is blatant to see them and they leach off the Italian community here. Not taking his word as gospel but found it very interesting to hear this from somebody who lives here and active in local legit business here..

honestly if hes well off and middle class he's probably never seen a made guy in his life. most legitimate guys get to know wiseguys bc they have their own issues with gambling, coke, alcoholism, etc.... at least half of them are some kindof addict anyways

I Hear what your saying, doubt my mates dads a mob expert but he is a local so I did respect what he said. I'm sure there's plenty of gambling and shylocking going on, but it's not something organized. I've been to Cleveland a few times over the years and there really is no Italian community left in the city.
