I found this list with the known members of the gang, I wanted to know if someone, maybe pizza boy has an updated list of members and knows what happened to them ?

Most of them are dead, in jail, or just dropped out of sight, Furio. Only a handful of them became "famous."

Gigi's dead. Patty Prisco's dead (Angelo's cousin). Artie Fiore's dead. Georgie T is dead. Most of them met the same end as other gang members of their day.

Patty was Angelo's cousin. He died real young. Natural causes. A real tough guy, but a nice guy too. Their uncle was a made guy (Rudy Prisco). Wikipedia has Rudy listed as Ange's father, but that's nonsense.


Too young. Vinny's a few weeks younger than I am. The only guy in our age group that was around the Purple Gang was Barney. And that's only because Barney has always been a special case in just about everything he ever accomplished, which is A LOT.

Plus, Vinny Basciano grew up in Yonkers. He only moved to the Bronx when he got married. But he lived here for many, many years after, so he's usually thought of as a native Bronx guy. It doesn't matter. Yonkers is just north of the Bronx, anyway. And being from Yonkers didn't hold Vinny back, that's for sure.

I'll wait for more to break in the media to post more of my opinion. But I said from day fucking one that it could have been anyone from New York to Florida, that it wasn't necessarily mob-connected (like the Westside would okay a murder a couple of blocks from QD's house ), and that those brothers hurt so many people over the years that it could have simply been a matter of him running into the WRONG fucking guy.

I've lived in the Throggs Neck/Country Club section of the Bronx (where the murder happened) for thirty years, and I spent half my life in East Harlem (my Dad's old neighborhood where the Purple Gang got off). Trust me, this guy was the Devil Incarnate, he finally ran into the wrong guy, and now he's worm food.

QD's daughter's house is right there. Ernie lives a little closer to Locust Point, but it's still close enough. Vinn B's ex-wife and (un-jailed) kid live right around the block. And the list goes on. I post anymore, and the nuts will start showing up with iPohnes looking to take selfies with these people. Point being, they weren't okaying that hit in this neighborhood.

No way this was sanctioned by the Westside. And don't forget, the Meldishes were up the Priscos' asses for years, so that's where the nod would have come from. Ange is doing life, but that hardly matters. The Meldishes ran the Purple Gang like the dime bag dealer on the corner runs the Crips .

From reading all the articles about this guy, and hearing your opinion (which I respect) on this guy it seems like he was pretty despicable. What was this guy about? Was he just a stone cold sicko? From what I can gather, it seems like him and those other guys were huge into Heroin and probably ran amok in the streets killing competitors and potential or probable witnesses, robbing people, etc... Can you shed anymore light on this gent? I find him kinda interesting

No need to, Mikey. You're very astute in these matters. We may be from different locations, but the mindset is always the same with mopes like this. You hit the nail right on the head in your assessment.

The only thing I'll add, and I've posted this in the past, is that the Meldishes never "ran" the Purple Gang. And for all of their balls--and I'm not denying that they were both intimidating and ballsy because they were scary as fuck--and I don't say things like that lightly. They were shit scared of Danny Leo and the Priscos (Angelo and his cousin Patty, who died very young).

The closest they ever came to "running" anything was when guys like Angelo, Danny and Barney started getting made and moved on up. But by that time, Easy Harlem was 90 percent Puerto Rican and the Purple Gang was a memory. They got left behind. And even if they had been Italian, they were both too fucking crazy to get made. Never in a million years.

He had the small house on Ellsworth. Actually, it was more like a bungalow. You see a lot of those in the far East Bronx from when Bronx Beach was still there. Believe it or not, they were originally summer rentals. Anyway, he also had a studio on Second Avenue around 108th or so. He died broke. You do the math.

Hey, it could very well boil down to him taking off the wrong guy that night. Guy grabbed his piece, followed home, and popped him. With Meldish's temperament, it could have been a spur of the moment thing that he finally ended up on the wrong end of. Again, karma's a bitch.

There both around the same age, could be an old drug beef.
