Been wanting to see that. Looks like Penn saw the success Liam Neeson has had playing an over-50 bad ass and wanted to try it out.

And Neeson got it from Stallone and Schwarzenegger.

Different movie, the sean penn movie is called "the gunman" im kinda looking foward to seeing it. However the OP is talking about "by the gun" which is a B rated mob movie set in boston, it just came to Netflix, i might watch it one boozy night but i dont have high hopes for it.

Watching it right now. Not too bad. They got the making ceremony backwards. harvey Keitel is in it.

Is it worth it? I have nothing to do tonight so it's either an Always sunny in Philadelphia marathon or this movie. The implied love story I saw in the trailer might make it cheesy. Speaking of cheesy, the dialog seems like it might be too...

It wasn't bad to the point where you couldn't watch it, well at least not in my opinion. I thought it started off ok and it seemed like it could of been good if they had just tried to show him hustling to make $ in the modern age as a LCN foot soldier.

But the whole love story / revenge was ridiculous. LCN is all about following the rules. And obviously that never always happens.But he becomes a made guy and his boss immediately tells him to not get involved with that girl and what does he do? Immediately he does.

Could of been much better.

This movie sucked imo. It felt to me like movie porn for mob watchers and action movie people. I couldn't even finish it. Same category as Chicago Overcoat and Wannabees.
I DID enjoy the new one with Paul Sorvino and Michael Rappaport, I forget the name of it, about an old mob skipper who gets out of prison.

I watched both just by streaming them for free online. I'd link you to it, but I am not sure if that is allowed or not.

Watched By the Gun. Decent show if you go in expecting a B mob movie. The acting was fine, in my opinion.

this movie wasnt as good as i said it was but i was kinda high when i watched it so yeah.
