1956 Chicago making ceremony

1956 Chicago making ceremony - 12/14/14 04:40 AM

According to an informant about 25 to 30 men were made in a ceremony in 1956. Most of it is heavily redacted, but during this ceremony Vincent "the Saint" Inserro was made, Joseph Ferriola was made and had been sponsored by Fiore Buccieri, James Allegretti was sponsored by Ross Prio. He said every faction (crew) made about 3-4 people at that time. Chicago Heights made about 3-4, and Frank "Skids" Caruso's crew made 3-4 people too, including Anthony Maenza. The rest of the names are edited out. Another informant said that Inserro was sponsored by Joseph "Crackers" Mendino and that Joseph "Pineapples" Eldorado was made into Buccieri's crew along with Ferriola.

That seems like a lot of people to make at once. What size in terms of numbers was the outfit through the years? I know people talk and debate a lot now about the 28 or so current members. It seems like we always heart a lot about the size of the five ny families and while no one debates the power the outfit had I never see info stating how large they were at different points thru the years.

I think Eldorado was sponsered by Daddano.

Must be, because I don't remember Allegretti or Inserro being mentioned in the one I've seen.

Nope. The one we've seen only briefly mentions Eldorado and Joe Nick's making. Would love to see more on it. If true, 25-30 members being made in a single year is a hell of a number.

Speaking of being made, did anyone ever catch Fosco and Mags briefly discussing Jack Cerone getting made in the basement of a church in the 30s? Interesting stuff.

It's a file someone shared with me so I don't have permission to post the actual file nor give the subject name.

It's a different file than this one, but both referring to the same ceremony/banquet:

Thanks, Faithful1. I had not seen this file until today. Good info.

The part about an assassination attempt by a unnamed individual on Accardo was certainly new info. I've read that Accardo and his wife were considering a move to South America because he feared for his life, but I thought that was from Outfit sources in Chicago ( Giancana, Battaglia, Cafiano, Cerone, Alderesio). Parts of this I have never understood because some of these guys would later become very "tight" with Accardo.

Really good info. Thanks for sharing.
