Anyone know a bit more than the brief stuff on wiki? I know he did time for killing his wife at one point! Now seen as being the Bonnano number 1. PB I know you usually have some good stories about these guys in the neighbourhood!

I actually doubt he is the REAL boss, in my head he's just a puppet, set up by someone (most likely Nicholas Santora, Tommy DiFiore or Asaro) to fool the FBI. Just put the word out on the street that Michael Mancuso is the new King, the few agents that still focus on Organized crime might just focus on him instead of the real boss, like the Genoveses have done for decades.

I can't imagine that psychopat being in charge of anything larger than a noodleshop. Either it's an setup or the cops have got it extremely wrong, LCN wouldn't place a wife-murdering high-profiled guy like him (he's done years for manslaughter and more) at the top of the pyramid. But he's incarcarated now until 2020 I think so who gives a fuck, Tommy DiFiore seems to be the boss now, and he'll probably stay in that position.

According to Massino's testimony, Barney approached him while they were in holding together. I don't believe it for a second, though.

1) Why would they involve themselves in the Bonannos' problems?

2) I can't see Barney approaching him like that.

3) It's entirely possible that Massino was just trying to paint an ugly picture of Vinny. Because by convincing the Feds that the other families didn't like Vinny, Massino could sell himself as the lesser of two evils.

I don't buy Mancuso being the boss, due to how the Gambino, Genovese, and Lucchese view him, not to mention that half of the Bonanno's rather wipeout the Bronx faction of the family rather than take orders from it anymore. You can find some info on Mancuso online, but most are going to be paper reports.

More and more of Massino's testimony is called into question.

It's reasonably apparent that large parts of his testimony are self-serving distortions of the truth. If not outright lies.
