Organized Crime in Minneapolis, Minnesota? - 11/24/14 03:04 PM

Does anyone know who is the dominant organized crime group in Minneapolis, Minnesota? I know it is not LCN as there was never any Italians there, so I was always curious who had their hands around the drug, bookmaking, prostitution, numbers, etc in that city as it is a fairly large city with many affluent areas....I am very curious as you never hear anything about the underworld in Minneapolis and it is a fairly large city.

I guess the main criminal organizations you hear about in Minneapolis are the Hmong and Native American gangs, as they've been charged under RICO. They may not be organized crime in the same sense the mafia is, but I guess they're currently the closest thing to it.

Can't be much gang activity. That state is still something like 90 percent White lol.

I think that independent racketeers, networks, and bikers would consist of the organized crime within that city. Just keep a check on past drug bust and other major indictments of the criminal element. A pattern of familiar individuals may occur.

metro minneapolis is quite diverse and don't forget the somalis

I assume most stuff you refer to are run by immigrant gangs, natives, bikers and indipendent, indigenous crews like the gustafsons

Of course. I was referring to the demographics of the overall State of Minnesota. But Minneapolis is becoming a hotbed for extreme Islam.

Yeah when I was there, being from NJ/NYC Metro area it was uncomfortable to me how many white people were there and how nice the people are in Minnesota! (and I'm Italian-American) Me and the people I was with were out there to see the Mets play the Twins in Minnesota during 2013 and we walk into a bar decked out in Mets gear with heavy Jersey accents and the people come up to us at the bar and are introducing themselves to us and helping us order off the menu-I couldn't believe how nice everyone was there! It was scary actually lol

There were Somali neighborhoods/enclaves so I would imagine they have something going on there along with the Mexican Cartels but hey what do I know....

It's not even rare to find different ethnicities in the Latin Kings.

I wouldn't say there is a strong presence of OC in Minneapolis, but small groups that live and operate in and around the city. Anything that was organized died off with the Blumenfeld brothers, most notable with Isadore Blumenfeld aka Kid Cann in the early 1980's and even then his power began to lose his grip on the city during the 1970's to the Baldy Street Gang. The BSG would disband sometime in the mid 1970's, with a few dozen members of this gang staying in contact and doing business with each other. The gangs leader Deuce Casper branched out and did business with biker gangs, most notable Outlaws MC, street gangs, one of which will be a forerunner for the current gangster disciples that operate in the city. Jack Capra and George Patterson would corner gambling and loan sharking in southern, northern Minneapolis, and other surrounding areas. Tommy Ogdahl went into politics. Perry Millik an interesting career would serve as a frontman building owner for many criminal activities in the city. After Casper died in the early 2000's, Minneapolis underworld began to operate seperate from each other. Currently the rumor is that Capra and Patterson run Minneapois, but they only run gambling and loan sharking. In reality, Biker gangs, The Gangster Disciples, The Latin Kings, Capra/Patterson, Hongs, and other groups operate in the city, but nothing really organized.

Currently, the Capra/Patterson syndicate controls all nationally sanctioned crime activities in the Twin Cities. Gambling is their primary source of income, and they are working under the auspices of the Genoveses (2011).

Fascinating. I was totally unaware of this.

The credibility of the entire page goes out the window right there. Not that Wiki is very credible to begin with, but every so often they'll get it right. But that sentence is beyond laughable.

How come? The Mafia has had links and crews in a lot of states, Minnesota is extremely low key, sizebal populated and there sure could be a profit there. I am not that good when it comes to states beyond the East Coast bu isn't Minnesota closer than Arizona? and I recently found out there was a lot of activity there - in the middle of the fucking desert.

The Genovese Family has nothing going on in the State of Minnesota. It's an absurd claim, and the page doesn't have a single link, indictment or credible resource to back it up.

Assuming that anything is going on in Arizona, that state is a destination for New Yorkers. Retirements, vacations, etc. It's a warm, dry climate, and it's very appealing.

Long story short, New Yorkers (and by extension, New York criminals) would be drawn to Arizona. But to Minnesota? Please lol.

PB is right. There is no LCN involvement in Minnesota. Very little in Arizona nowadays too. Mostly their sports betting networks that extend out there and in Vegas.

That's funny. One of our Bronx properties is a walk up and I still use separate keys for everything there. I have a big ring that I clip to my belt when I'm working there and it jingles and jangles when I walk. My wife calls me Schneider. But no one ever gets the reference but us. And now you lol.

Re: Organized Crime in Minneapolis, Minnesota? - 12/08/14 03:52 AM

Don't believe Wiki. Minneapolis and the Genovese crime family connection goes back to Joe Adonis and David Bremer, but Blumenfeld brothers had connection to Chicago and Wisconsin LCN members long before the Genovese crime family entered the picture. After Adonis was deported, the Blumenfeld brothers did business with Rosario Mogavero, Tommy Eboli, and Anthony Russo of the Genovese crime family, there is a mention of a couple of Lucchese and Bonanno members that had visited the Blumenfeld brothers, but no luck in finding out who they were. Sometime during the mid 1960's, Minneapolis would mainly do business with Donald Angelini, Ralph Capone, and Vincenzo DiGiorgi of Chicago, Louis Fazio, August Palmisano, and Vito Seidita of Milwaukee, Filippo Candela of Madison, Giovanni Priziola and Anthony Ruggieri of Detroit, Frank Embrescia of Cleveland. There may have been others but those were the LCN members that had a lot of contact with Minneapolis Blumenfeld brothers. That is not limited to the Jewish mobsters that had contact with Minnesota either, just what LCN involvement there was in that state.
