Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 08/26/14 05:28 AM

I know in Canada it's like the wild west but in NYC specifically, are mob related murders uncommon?

Ithey have realised clipping people every 2 mins is bad for business , at the moment the Feds r letting them earn to a certain extent . As long as they stay away from major drug deals and there are not bodies dropping in the street every day the Feds will pretty much leave them alone , look at the amount of rats living in the open .

This argument has always been strange to me. Killing, especially guys in witness protection program is bad for business. Why do the feds leave them alone to begin with if they can put heat on them? Why not squash the whole thing if they have the resources to do it? Is it corruption or some human phenomena, that a dead witness makes the agent put down his newspaper and start investigating? I never saw much sense in the explanations that it's good to keep crime going to keep up the Gambino squad budget.

Re: Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 08/26/14 04:45 PM

I think the feds know that if they squash them all (which would take a significant amount of manpower) someone else would pop up and fill the void... maybe someone more violent. You are always gonna have some form of OC, the only question is who it is gonna be.... and since the feds also have other things to focus on, such as terrorism and street gangs, they have to tolerate OC to a certain extend.... btw, when was the last time someone got clipped by US LCN?

Re: Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 08/26/14 04:56 PM

Simply put, its just too easy to get caught clipping someone with todays technology.. Cell phone records, camera's, dna, and of course witness '.
Murder is much more of a last resort these days.
Back in the. 70's and 80's there was always an article in the new york post about a guy shot in the back of the head or a guy found dead in a trunk.
Cell phone records can also pin point where you were at a given time.

Manpower and budgets. Bookies are low on the priority list compared to terrorists and drug kingpins.

Was the last mob hit Gino DiPietro in December 2012? And before that Randy Pizzolo in 2004?

If someone is murdered in this day and age, is it usually a personal beef rather than a business strategy or?

You can those old Nokia phones that were popular 15 years ago are the best to use.

Now that I think of it, I think the big old cellphones/car-phones from the 80'/90's are probably the best they had great service especially driving cross country you could get a signal from anywhere.

Re: Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 08/27/14 01:27 PM

they can probably trace the phone itself, but if it is a prepayed phone and they cant trace it back to you, then they dont have shit

Re: Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 09/01/14 09:55 PM

I'm sure there's murders linked at the bottom of the food chain from the mob flooding the streets with drugs and to black gangs the past 60 years. So indirectly their product creates power struggles against their "alleged" allies in the underworld.

Re: Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 09/17/14 11:34 PM

I don't its that uncommon just toned down to a last resort somewhat. If these drug crews are brazenly committing murders and getting away with some than it shouldn't be much of a problem for an organized syndicate.
Posted By: IlLupo77

Re: Are mob murder uncommon nowadays? - 09/20/14 05:59 PM

^^^Toned down is a good way to describe it. The problem with comparing street corner drug crews to OC is that the cops know where to immediately start looking or have some general idea of where, if Flamboyant Phil from the Genoveses is left in the street, versus Lil' Tee. Lil' Tee could've gotten a hot one from anyone, Flamboyant Phil is, was, or maybe on LEO's radar, with documented known associates, etc.

I could be drawing some incorrect or off-base comparisons, also. I hate to say it too, but I feel like LEO has a higher incentive to solve an OC based murder than a corner killing any day. Who knows. Just my thoughts on the subject.
