Jerry ( Gangland ) Capeci - 08/21/14 05:18 PM
There is some guys in the know on this form, and there are some very good researchers. And there may be possibly, some law enforcement also.
I am asking you where do you think or know where this Jerry Capeci is getting his info.
It has come to my attention because of not what he writes .
But what has been the lack of his information lately.
This is almost like he has lost his sources ..
Thanks , Totally for discussion amusement only..

As you know Serpiente, his claim to fame was having sources on both sides. But that was a long time ago. Maybe his Law enforcement sources dried up or retired and his Mob sources are away. I agree that he has lost his edge Serpiente.

I really never knew where he got that info till i started looking on this form.
There was a poster a while back that would post his stuff.
Then i goggled him and found his site. But i only can read the front page.
I know you have to join and pay ,but i still had trouble ( cos i am old and internet stupid)basically.
Having said that i think he must of had many cos of all the families he had stuff on,or like you said cops ,but must have been way up there to know the stuff i seen.
He is just rehashing and guessing now,it is getting obvious now.

Capeci is famous for getting his info from sources on both sides of the law, he actually did an interview not to long ago and was asked about his sources this was one of his answers-
“I’ve only had two honest-to-goodness mobsters — guys that were inducted into a crime family — who have been sources of mine,” he said. “One of them is no longer with us.”

If Jerry Capeci was a character in The Sopranos, then Christopher Moltisanti would be one of his sources.

Del : Then there are many N.Y.P.D. and Feds giving out stuff that is just as bad as the people they are putting away.
And what is bad is that it must be lots of them.(Dam no one policing the police) as usual...
Thanks
Moe That's funny as all...(and don't give me the funny how routine)

Serpiente also other Organized crime reporters do the same as Capeci. I would say they have more Law Enforcement sources than guys in the life. I bet that when the cops and Feds want to publicize a bust they pick up the phone and call these guys to make a big splash.

Bean : That kind of stuff will never change.
The news that i am thinking of is the family hierarchy and other very sensitive information that would have to be paid for.
There is no doubt that the family administration given to a fed ,then intern the fed sells it.
Would be the kind of things i think he would have to do to get it.
And he has time and time again has gotten all kind of info at that level..
Am i making my point ?

Capeci benefited greatly from the Internet. By the mid '90s his Daily News column was getting stale. The Internet saved him. He got more than a few "tips" over the years from disgruntled mob associates using anonymous email addresses

Law enforcement on this site? I never would have thought honestly but it does make sense. Those bastards are everywhere
. Never really noticed a change in his information on the site but I also haven't been able to access past the front page without paying for some time now

That's correct and vice versus. George Anastasia talked about how he'd speak with connected guys and use them as sources to refute the cops versions. I always thought Georgie did a better job than Capesi anyway. He absolutely had tons of local relationships that fed him information. But in fairness philly is a lot smaller than New York

George said in 'mob files" he used to meet with Ron Previte at the Silver Coin Diner in Hammonton, NJ. Years before he was a rat. Also said he would speak with Borgesi and Merlino.

Anastasia is to Philly mobsters what Courtney Love is to 90's grunge musicians.

WTF does that mean? Sorry I don't know anything about grudge music. I'm going to make an assumption that it isn't good but that's just a guess. Hopefully you're not mocking GA.

Not every
Gang Land article may be riveting but he is still one of the best sources of information we have on the NY mob. This whole thing about him "losing his sources" is just internet forum conjecture.

As an investigator, Capeci must go to where the information is and that includes cops, witnesses, mobsters and wannabe's. I bet he gets a lot of his info from associates "Just between you and me". He has written a few good books, especially Murder Machine. Now those guys were hard core and I doubt any of them slid him any information other than Montiglio. And by the way for those you have mentioned it, you can be certain that Law Enforcement is watching this site and reading your posts and taking notes. I used to enjoy Capeci's column until he started charging to go on there. Now, with this site I don't have to read Gangland anymore. Anyway, I think he is also a good writer

And all you do is tell them what they think they are coming here for and let them chase it no where ! ! !

Very true but, imagine how boring these forums would be without all the juicy stuff we ALL want to know.
There is so much detailed info out there, people on these forums could get together on a Saturday and do a 90% accurate, Five Families Re-enactment!......Just like the Dungeons and Dragons people.
(1960-80's though. Those were the best years!)

What about fringe guys like Turekian? They could have gave him solid enough information.

Well, yeah, that is basically what I was trying to say. Young wannabes so proud that they know a real life mobster wanting to impress the law enforcers that they "Know something" thinking that it will never get back to the mobster.
