Did John DiFronzo rat to evade the Family Secrets trial? it's weird that Chicago hasn't suspected him and knocked him off...

e

He's been the boss since 92'yea, but how did he not get pinched or mentioned during the trial? Calabrese testifyed he kill spilotro and a few other things and the feds must've loved to try 'n' pinch the top man in Chicago?

Re: Did DiFronzo Rat? - 08/05/14 08:29 PM

my best guess is he did not get "pinched" because he did not get caught? Same with Tocco barely doing any jail time during his reign?

Or maybe he did rat and he is so good at it that he has already helped bring Operation Secrets together and sent away some of his top guys including Lombardo and not only that he has remained in power supposedly and no one is any wiser. He is like the more advacned version of Bulger? Where instead of having to go on the run for decades he can instead remain boss and a rat

Lou Marino was also implicated by Nick C. but he wasn't charged, either. The feds won't indict without corroborating evidence.

Yep. They didn't have anything on him other than Nick's word.

If Chicago murdered everyone they suspected, it would be bad for business. I don't believe DiFronzo has ratted for a second - for one, the guy's own brothers would kill him before anyone else.

This was really just fluff and gossip - created to hurt DiFronzo's reputation - but everyone in the know was laughing about it.

fosco started all this bull$hit about difronzo being a rat. hes just salty cause he didnt make it up the ladder. difronzo would of been indicted if their was evidence on the spilotro hit. theirs none. theyve been talking about family secrets 2 forever. they woulda done something if they had something

DiFronzo did not rat. It was only Nick's word on it, but he most likely said that DiFronzo ratted, like boobyvegas said above.

They have said difronzo was an informant for years but it's just here say and speculation because all the other bosses have been arrested and jailed around him , I don't think he is an informant . Maybe is just a very low key guy who has played the game just right

Highly doubt it, I remember the guy Chicago posting on here that he's been semi retired since the 90's, maybe that's why he didn't get indicted.

Re: Did DiFronzo Rat? - 08/06/14 11:05 AM

Yeah they probably gave him a pass on a murder/racketeering indictment cause he retired.

It's exactly what the others said..all they had to go on was Calabrese's word.

I didn't mean it like that you utter spastic, if he was semi-retired then he's less likely to be caught doing anything illegal..

I found it amusing & ironic that you cited Chicago (aka The Don of American News Post fame/shame) as a viable source, & then proceeded to deem funkster a spastic. Lol.

This is your answer to the question posited by the thread. "Did DiFronzo rat to evade indictment in the FS trial". Yeah, I'm the "spastic". The indictment was directly related ro things he may have directly been involved in in the early to mid 80s.

Re: Did DiFronzo Rat? - 08/06/14 05:45 PM

why don't we just call him and get the answer from the horses mouth fellas? I am sure one of our Chicago posters could even stop by his house possibly for some coffee and discussion?

According to some official documents from a relatively recent trial (I don't remember which one), the Feds do apparently have a high-level informant. I can't remember the context, but when it came out, for whatever reason, everyone was under the impression it was someone on the street, and not one of the usual suspects.

If memory serves, Fosco was not near the first one to assert that Jonny Bananas was a rat. I am pretty sure people were talking about that a long while before he ever wrote a story about that.

That site was, in its heyday, the coolest thing for Outfit watchers besides the Sun Times comment section during Family Secrets (where relatives of the involved characters frequently posted).

Now there is so little mob activity and so little to cover it's just the same cast of characters around here. One by one we will likely fall away, like the mob itself! It's like watching the national anthem on TV.

Two "upper echelon" informants, apparently. According to the article below, which came out in 2010, one had been giving information for over 25 years. The other since 1994.

Who wants to take a guess one of those informants is TheDon aka ElmwoodParker aka Chicago? I heard he assaulted his handler after he was asked about the Grand Avenue street crew smile

That's right.

To the other guys, what I mean is, an occassional bust for breaking knee caps or B&Es isn't enough, probably, to hold "mob watchers" interest long term.

I personally don't think we'll have another Family Secrets-style trial; it doesn't even look like we're going to have any more high-profile gangland hits. As morbid as that is, I guess that's part of the interest. When's the last mob movie you watched where no one got whacked?

I don't see another Gaylord or Gambat, or even an interesting large scale rackateering case.

IMO, the glory days of Outfit watching are over.

John DiFronzo did not rat. If he did then it would be public by now. Consider all the dirty law enforcement out there in this day and age. Something would of leaked by now. Unless the FBI official isn't around to tell the tale.

Re: Did DiFronzo Rat? - 08/08/14 08:44 AM

If I recall correctly, the Feds only needed Nick Calabrese's testimony to gain a conviction against Schiro. I might be wrong, but I dont remember there being any other corroborating evidence.
