Visitors and Resident's of Poconos 70'S - 04/12/14 02:53 PM

Several members of NY Families are residents or have visited-sometimes apparently unwillingly-the Pocono area.
MICHAEL CALABRESE: a NY bookmaker who was trying to avoid a NYC grand jury investigation, was hidden in 1965 at the home of Michael D'Alessio Sr.
THOMAS BILOTTI: memeber of the Gambino Family, and his wife own a home in Sagamore Estates. Thomas and Joseph Bilotti of Saten Island, were implicated in a bizarre shooting incident in Sept. of 1970, near the home of Michael D'Alessio Sr. D'Alessio niece, Theresa Buttino and her boyfriend Thomas D. Ernst, were shot while driving near her uncle's home. Buttino returned the fire with an automatic weapon. Ernst and Buttino identified to law enforcement that the two Bilotti's as the attackers only to withdraw their identifications the next day. In early 1971, Ernst was shot to death while leaving John D'Alessio's Staten Island home.
JOSEPH COLETTI: member of the Decalvacante Family, has owned property in Sagamore Estaes.
ALEX DIBRIZZI: member of the Genovese Family and an uncle of Michael D'Alessio Sr., has often visited Sagamore Estates.
ALEXANDER D'ALESSIO: Michael's brother and also a Gambino Family member, visited Michael at Wild Acres. Alexander rents a home at Wld Acres during the hunting season.
JOSEPH GENTILE and ERNEST LA PONZINA: members of the Colombo Family, have owned property in Mt. Crest Acres in Monroe County.

There are "many" that have houses up there.I had a second home up there for years, all through the late 70,s till late 80,s in Lake Naomi, in a little town called Pocono Pines, just off 940.The kids got big and the mountains were to small for them, went upstate..

There were a few Colombo,s up there. And Casso or Amuso had a house on the lake ,it may have been a high ranking skipper that had it ,but they used it..

Hey Serpiente. I think Amuso was borrowing someone else's house but Casso had his own place at Budd Lake. If he had not had his own place he probably would have lasted longer on the run. I know an associate of Joe Massino, Goldie something, had parents that had a house in the Poconos he lamed it at.

If you know that area it is easy to blend in and disappear, no wonder the guys from NYC go on the lam there.

Gin: Before Budd Lake or after Budd Lake he or someone in that family had a house there. I don't know if was the Timber Trails or lake Naomi .(They are the same) But they were there and used it often.
Amuso and his wife and two kids were there, The communities had top notch facilities and it was a place many of them used.
The Bonanno family also had a place there Joe Massimino and a few of his guys(Don't know if they were associates or not) would be all around there,The spot they go and tie one on was called (Dirty Gertz)set back off rt 940 what a place...

Just saw that u posted about Joe the Boss ,yes lots of
them would be up there, all N.Y. accents so they fit in
easy .

Joe Massino was on the lam up there whilst a bunch of guys were prosecuted sometime in the 80's if I recall correctly.

Ha. There's a town called 'Moscow' there according to Google Maps.
