I was always under the impression that Northlake and Melrose Park were Grand Avenue territory in the 70s and 80s.

Louis "The Mooch" Eboli ran Northlake until he died, then Anthony Centracchio. There was a major bust that happeend with Centracchio in Northlake in the late 90s. The Northlake police chief was indicted.

Yes...that town was very mobbed up. Ciotti worked for Louis Eboli in the 1980s. I guarantee you most of those bars have gambling machines in them that still turn a profit.

Thanks Chitown. Would this still be Grand Avenue territory today? To be honest I get really confused talking about the outfit today. Would Melrose Park be with Cicero or Elmwood Park? You know your stuff so I was hoping you might be able to give your input.

Could this even be Solly D's area now or is he father north?

I really have no idea what territory is what now. I personally think the Outfit is less about "territories" and more about "rackets" these days. For example, I feel the Cicero/Southside crew is heavy into the joker poker machines and they probably have those in territory from every crew. Elmwood Park guys like Tony Dote remain focused on the bookmaking and probably take action from Cicero and Grand Avenue. That crew also focuses on labor and bid rigging and probably do construction all over Chicagoland. Grand Avenue is more about street shit like robberies and extortion and probably aren't restricted as to where they can pull that. I think the crews coexist and kick up to each other.

Grand Ave is also big into strip clubs and as we've seen through this latest indictment naming Albie Vena, clubs everywhere from Bridgeview to Cicero to Gary were paying him (even though many were in Cicero/Southside territory).

So again when there is a power shift or someone goes to prison or dies, I don't think Outfit guys inherit "territory" anymore. I think they inherit specific rackets. Frankly it makes it far more difficult to figure out what is what--I think that's their exact intention.

Solly D lives way up north in Island Lake but not sure what he's doing up there beyond helping his wife's business. He still hangs out in the old haunts around Cicero.

Thanks Chitown I really appreciate it. I enjoy your pictures and I have checked some of your info about Chicago and you have been right. I have no grudges against you even though other people might. Look forward to discussing the Windy City with you in the future.

Re: Northlake and the Outfit - 03/28/14 07:30 PM

Truth is even guys like me who see a few of these guys up close can only speculate...they are extremely discreet, interrelated and many are only 25% gangsters--meaning they make the lion's share of their money legitimately, but still have rackets going on the side. and you should assume 50% of what I type is pure speculation on my part, so don't take it to the bank.

A few guys to watch that stay below the radar are Gigi Rovito, Vito Salamone, Eddie "Greco" or "Greico" and two younger brothers named "Ruggio" or something like that from Elmwood Park...I believe one just came out of prison.

Don't get bogged down or jammed up with proximity and geography, there is an elmwood park connection to the south side gentlemens clubs and a Bridgeport connection to the Lawrence strrt escort services

The Centracchio indictment had some Northlake connections.

His ticker started going bad and he was eventually phased out in the early seventies by the new regime. I think he died sometime in the late seventies.

I can believe that. He pretty much ran all the gambling between the Jane Addams and the Tri-state, including the quonset behind the Villa Venice.
