The saga continues... Shrimp Boy sure has had quite a life. He is a legendary crime boss operating out of Chinatown in San Fransisco. You guys have probably seen this guy before. He's been all over television and social media for years telling his life story and trying convince everyone that he has gone legit. The city of San Francisco even awarded him with a "Certificate of Honor" in 2006. He poses in pictures with the city's mayor and with celebrities, but old Shrimpy has definitely been around the block. He's done bids in both state of fed for his gang, the Hop Sing Tong. After spending the 80s and 90s locked up for different cases, he cut a deal for early release and testified against his old boss but refused to go into witness protection. When he got out of the joint early for testifying in court, he went back to his old hood like nothing happened. I guess he's up to old tricks again

Well, he just got popped again. The details are sketchy but the reports are that he's been picked up with a state senator. This is going to get more interesting once the full story comes out.

The arrest of state Sen. Leland Yee shook California political watchers Wednesday, but for followers of Bay Area crime it was the arrest of a San Francisco figure known as "Shrimp Boy" that caught their attention.

Both Yee and Raymond Chow, AKA "Shrimp Boy," were arrested in a serial of raids in a sweeping public corruption probe.

Chow was at the center of organized crime in San Francisco’s Chinatown for decades, according to federal court documents. On his Facebook and Twitter accounts, he bills himself as a reformed gangster who now advocates on behalf of children.

Chow was born in Hong Kong in 1960 and came to the United States at 16. His grandmother, documents and law enforcement sources say, gave him the nickname “Shrimp Boy,” in part because of his small stature.

Damn..Apparently he's part of a gun-running, money laundering case which was done by the FBI. An agent posing as an East Coast Member of La Cosa Nostra infiltrated whatever organization they had, becoming a "consultant". Basically tracking their every move the entire time.

Not only was he up to his old tricks, but he was running his own tong. The agent was acting as a money launderer offering his services to them.

He conveniently became the head of the tong after the former leader was murdered.

I saw this guy on gangland and thought he was such a posturing goof he couldn't be the real deal. Well, guess I was wrong! I actually kin dof hate gangland, such a dumb show. All it does is repeat what they just said constantly. Like stfu, I heard the first time! Move on already!

I know. I saw that too and said to myself, "A pro like Gotti would never act like that!"

haha I know what you mean about those shows. All the crime documentaries on TV are like that. They have like 5 minutes of information drawn out for an hour. They just keeping cutting to the same reporters or cops saying "this guys was so dangerous" over and over.

There are snitches in every group, it is surprising because he testified in open court, but I guarantee almost every gangster snitches sometimes. Most of them do it secretly but there are a few guys have never given up any information that would be considered snitching. Most groups have different rules on what they consider to be snitching. Surenos are not even supposed to speak on camera, or they could get whacked.
The Tongs are tight nit group. They don't deal much with outsiders as far as I know. Its a really old Chinese tradition, they might not care as long he didn't snitch on any of the current members.

I've been told that if Whitey Bulger were to ever be on the streets again, we would be welcome back to South Boston. I could be wrong on that, but I did hear it.

And Galante, Pitera, Persico, Orena, Riina and the list goes on and on and on.

I wanted to clarify a few things about Shrimp boy. Yes, Shrimp boy, in his day (1970s-early 1990s) was a respected gangster. However, his connections to the Wo Hop To Triad are way overblown. Peter Chong was/is a member of the Wo Hop to but he was never a boss. He was the equivalent of a made guy in a traditional cosa nostra family. He did not come to this country to control all Asian OC, that was Shrimp Boy's goal. Chong just came here to invest money and because he knew that Hong Kong was going to be taken over by China soon and he wanted out.

Chong befriended Shrimp Boy because Shrimp convinced him that he needed protection. Shrimp had heard that Chong was a triad member and he decided to use Chong's name to scare other Asian gangs into paying him for protection. Everyone around the world has heard of the Triads so Shrimp Boy decided to use this. Even the FBI bought Shrimp's story that Chong was sent here to take over Asian OC in the US. Now things have come full circle.

How does somebody even convince themself to work with somebody who sold out there last crime partners to the goverment? people are fucking confused and lost.

That new persona crumbled in recent days when he was arrested in a sweeping federal corruption investigation - one in which State Senator Leland Yee, a San Francisco Democrat, was charged with conspiring to deal firearms for campaign contributions. Two dozen associates were also arrested.

According to the 137-page affidavit made public last week in support of the criminal complaint, Chow, 54, vacillated between claims to undercover agents: that he had truly given up crime, and that he was a crime boss who didn't get his hands dirty since his last prison stint. He allegedly told them that when a member of his organisation kills another, he decided if the killing was justified.

The affidavit alleges that he made introductions and took payments for allowing various acts of money laundering and smuggling to occur.

He was arrested at his girlfriend's house in San Francisco, and faces charges of money laundering, conspiracy to transport stolen property across state lines and conspiracy to traffic in contraband cigarettes. A conviction could bring a maximum prison sentence of 115 years.
