The Ciancaglini Family

Ok, so I'm aware that there was a family in the Philly mob and they took different sides in the war. Does anybody have much information on this? It seems crazy to me that brothers would be gunning to kill each other for rival factions. If anybody could clue me in on what they know regarding the Ciancaglinis then I'd love to hear it.

Also does anybody know of other situations where brothers or relations have killed each other in the Mafia to gain an up.

If I am correct Sam Destafano and his brother Maria killed their brother Michael on the orders of Sam Giancana. If I am correct Mario was in on the plot with Tony Spilotro to in turn kill Mad Sam.

I'm sure dominic cirillo knew about the plot to murder his estranged son after he got into trouble for offending vincent basciano . Also al walker was given the contract to murder his nephew anthony mirra . I'm sure joey mook d'amico the actual shooter was related to mirra in some way also

There were 3 Ciancaglini brothers,John,Joe,and Michael.Their father is finishing a long prison term from the Scarfo trial.John who I believe is the oldest was always aligned with the Merlino crew.Also the youngest one Michael was Merlino's running buddy.Apparantly one night in early March of 1992 a couple of Stanfa's guys followed Michael home from a basketball game.They opened fire on him just before he was able to get in his house.He believed one of the shooters was his middle brother Joey who eventually became Stanfa's underboss.Exactley a year later in March of 1993 the famous hit attempt caught on tape at the Warfield Luncheonette that Joey ran almost cost him his life as he was shot at point blank range.They say that was Michael taking revenge.Eventually in Aug. of 1993 Michael was killed while walking with Joey Merlino outside their clubhouse.John Veasey and Philip Coletti were the gunman.At this time John was finishing a 7 yr. prison term for extortion.He got out in Jan. 1995 and in Oct. of that yr. he supposetley took part in the hit on John Veasey's brother,Billy.I think it all boiled down to John,Michael and Joe.Sr. were all aligned with the Merlinos [the father was actually good friends with Chuckie Merlino,Joey's father].So the middle brother Joe who was with Stanfa was outnumbered in the family.

where is joe now?

I think he is almost completely disabled.

Although Scarfo Sr recently talked about him like he was still relevant, but then again Scarfo Sr has been in the can for 20 years.
