Set the record straight - 01/30/14 06:26 PM

We hear from a lot of posters that the mob are still into mostly everything. They are living in 1980s. We know the mob aren't in the fish, meat and garment industries anymore. So are they strictly involved in construction (not like before) the ports and a little bit of garbage only? What about trucking? Do they still own nightclubs in NYC?
Plus, roughly, how much do they earn a year with the legit industries they are involved with?

What most people will never understand it that since as far back as the 60s, the vast majority of activity has been on the fringes of legitimacy and that is still the case today This is why RICO was created, because it allows the FEDs to tie someone to any “criminal activity” even if they are not directly involved, and has expanded the definition
Examples
Vending
Linen
Cartage
Livery
Contractors
Construction supplies
Services to the construction industry
Sanitation
Restaurant supplies
Unions
All legal, what is not legal, is pay to play, kickbacks for contracts, skimming, and forcing these services on people with threats of retribution. This is now and has always been 80% of what the LCN does and always did
The other 20% is shy, juice from bookmaking and drugs, burgleries and robberies, and most recently human trafficking for the adult industry in partnership with the east Europeans, this is HUGE in both NY and Chicago.
