Jay Leno Performed for the Chicago Outfit - 01/17/14 03:44 PM

I've heard about Jay Leno's performance at Brookwood Country Club, which was the Outfit's personal country club in the 1970s and 80s. I would place $ on the fact that the gangster he is talking about here is Jackie Cerone Sr. The sons of Cerone and Vince Solano were the ones who purchased the course from Dupage County and this is a course where guys like Mags learned to play golf and where everyone form Jimmy LaValley to Joey Lombardo to Peter DiFronzo could be found on the driving range or the club house every other day. It also had exceptional NYE parties.

LCN "Benifits" could be a thread all by itself.
More than half the time it's part of a bust out.
Someone can't pay a debt so you throw a benifit dinner, you hit up union members and get business people in line to buy tickets, you get some strippers of some entertainmant, sometime you even get the banquet hall owner to throw the bash on the arm if he has some debt too. If it's someone connected to the industry it's even better.
In the end, the debt gets paid, everyone is happy....almost everyone

I wonder who the mobster could be. I mean 1970's-1990's, famous enough for Leno to say "famous gangster". Keep in mind he's gotta be really well known for Leno to say "famous gangster".

Famous hotheads..... hmmmmmm.

Jackie Cerone is pretty famous and he was really the guy holding court at Brookwood. His son was the owner on paper.

I don't see Tony Accardo snapping at a priest like that, nor do I think Joe Aiuppa spent much time at Brookwood. Ferriola, Carlisi, etc. are really not "famous."

So again my guess is Cerone.

I remember in Family Secrets Joey Lombardo said to someone on a golf course regarding Danile Seifert, "That sonfoabitch won't be testifying anymore."

Probably was that course. I remember reading about that place.

Somehow, the story ends with Leno on a golf course with a famous mob boss threatening a priest, and topless 50-year-old hookers.

"Hey, we called the Holiday House; they don’t need ya." .. LOL! lol

That was pretty good. Thanks for posting it.

The man he said that to was the legendary Taylor Street heavy Marshall Caifano

The Holiday House was a well known Mob hangout in Monroeville,Pa.
It featured top shelf national talent. The Feds suspected, but couldn't prove, that Pittsburgh Boss Mike Genovese was a secret owner.Around here, you went to the Holiday House on your birthday,or your graduation, and it was a big deal.

What probably happened was that Chicago contacted the Pittsburgh Family, explained the situation, and got an OK for Leno to do their gig. I would imagine that a piece was kicked back to Pit out of respect.

By the way,the Holiday House closed in 1988,so that would narrow down the identity of the gangster that Leno mentioned.

That is a great series.

I immediately assumed it was Aiuppa, but I have no idea.

Cerone seems to make sense, especially if he was drunk.

Leno said famous, but maybe he's a mob watcher and famous to him is different.

Could it be Lombardo?

I was just going to write a summary of the Holiday House, you beat me too it Lou_Para. Mike Genovese met with his top guys there every morning for either breakfast or lunch. Small world. I do know for a fact that Mike Genovese was personal friends with Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra, actually hosted them back at John LaRocca's house in 1960 when the Pirates were playing the Yankees in the World Series. He stocked up his hotels in Monroeville with plenty of hookers for some of the entertainers who were in town.

I was talking about the "Banquet Bust Out".....generally speaking it is a painless bloodless way for a guy to get out from under. Thinking the subject might make a good thread

It would be very interesting to know who in Chicago made the call to who in Pittsburgh. I know the two families had a connection through On Leong.

John LaRocca was "close" to Joey Aiuppa and Tony Accardo, but especially to Joey Doves

Talk about a tough crowd...can you imagine being heckled by Joe Lombardo and the rest of the Outfit. If he said the wrong thing they probably would of shot Leno on the spot and thrown his body in the oven. lol
