Rebuild a crime family ?

Rebuild a crime family ? - 12/16/13 09:43 AM

Until to the 90s, the families outside of New York had to seek permission to enter new blood in the family, and it was because of ban to made new members that many families have become extinct or are on the way to extinction.
Now with the Commission that hasn't met since 2000, and with the influence of the 5 families of both large families out Ny as Chicago are declined,

What would prevent a family, where there is less than 10 made men to take new members and rebuild the structure not necessarily be the Sicilian classic?

ie Boss, underboss, consigliere, capos, etc.

Make the example of the family of New Orleans or Cleveland, if there is an old made man who is chosen as the boss of the family can made new members and then later make contact with the old families.
Understanding that in its territory, can do what it wants.

Example (5 old made men,one is appointed as a boss, two as consigliere and underboss, the boss made ten made man,2 of the old made man as became capos with 5 made men each)

this is just to satisfy my curiosity don't make fun of me.

Good Question Furio.

Unfortunately we will never know. For all we know Cleveland is rebuilding and so is NOLA, KC and other defunt families. (Do I think they are? HELL NO)

But a lot of posters on this site believe that if there are no arrest reports then there is no family. What if there are 20 guys in KC or NOLA still running around? What if Law enforcement knows their power is less than that of a violent street gang and says "shit ain't worth wasting taxpayers money on a few Italian book makers."

Honestly who knows? for all we know Biloxi has a small family. The posters of this site like to think their word is the word of God on here but honestly, they aren't FBI agents or Mobsters so they don't know anything about any defunct family besides the history of it.

Time will be the determining factor as to what family is alive and who is dead.

If tomorrow the FBI goes and round up some 15 Trafficante family members on an assorment of charges you know how many people will look retarded on here saying they are dead?

No one knows for sure about any of these so called "extinct" families, hell not even me. I'd like to think NOLA is gone and dead but if there is a big bust tomorrow with guys names we have never heard, people on this site including me will shit a HUGE brick because they said the family was extinct and their word cannot be challenged!

nothing would stop them? You can do whatever you want to do . You can start a crime family in your garage lol

But let me ask you a question. What benefit would you get from being made into say Cleveland or new Orleans circa 2013? .

I believe the FBI has a directive that if they declare someone a official boss they have to set up a team to investigate them at all costs. Hense why they labeled guys like LOOSE acting boss. Doesn't mean that particular made guys are not left on the street doing whatever , it just means as a formal traditional LCN family they are not operating.

I think in order to rebuild, political and law enforcement contacts need to be met...otherwise, you have no clout. In Cleveland for example, Joe Iacabacci does not garner the respect that some of the previous guys had, nor does he have influence with judges, prosecutors, commissioners etc. ALL mafia families needed corrupt public figures and cops in order to survive. No corrupt cops = no widespread illegal gambling. Prosecutors and judges are needed to keep the cops close to the vest. Not saying Iacabacci can't find a few corrupt cops, but the judges and prosecutors are much harder to come by at this day in age.

It seems that once a family declines to the point where you have only a handful of members remaining, the inclination to make new guys is no longer there. Those remaining are going to be up there in age, some of them no longer active, and the top guy (like the late Mike Genovese or Pete Milano) may have enough money that they have no desire to risk scrutiny buy making moves like that. They'd rather live out their twilight years outside prison than try to keep the family going.

JCB1977 mine was just an example, it is not all the old made men are millionaires, and that this may, however, dreaming of the old days try to rebuild their family. Maybe I'm used to the situation in Naples, where the clans born and die all the time, just a gang leader who thinks he is the boss and born a clan.
However, with the FBI focused more on terrorism and black or Latin gangs, doesn't seem so unlikely that can rebuild a family, maybe not like the old days, but the Cosa Nostra still has its charm especially among criminals with italian surnames.

So people will follow a old broke man to a potential federal prison term because he has some charm?

People want to join your crew become your partner because you have something to offer. Maybes its money , maybe its muscle. Maybe its protection , What would a broke old man offer ?

If u want to know about criminal activity in a certain city or state u must ask the people who live there and local law enforcement who works there, everybody else is just whistling dixie
