John Veasey's decision to cooperate - 11/30/13 04:57 AM

What was the original reason why Stanfa wanted to kill Johm Veasey? What was the original reason why John Veasey decided to cooperate before they attempted to kill him?

It was mainly due to his brother billy veasey , he was worried for his young brother and urged him to get out of the life , stanfa found out and ordered him to be killed , he was summoned to a meeting were frank martines and al pagano tried unsuccessfully tried to murder him . The rest is history , he testified against stanfa putting him away for life , his brother billy was murdered on the day john was due to testify to try and silence him . It didn't work and made him an even more determined to testify , I wouldn't like to be the killers of billy veasey , John is a maniac and I have no doubt he will not rest until he has avenged his brothers death

So because he was reconsidering the life and/or was already cooperating?

They tried to kill him, that's reason enough.

John Stanfa wanted John Veasey dead for a couple of reasons, really. After Veasey murdered Frank Baldino (an associate of Joey Merlino), Veasey allegedly began to attempt to extort money from other mobsters, because by this time Veasey had an inflated ego. Secondly, Veasey claimed in the 60 minute interview that Stanfa was going to give him a cash bonus for being inducted into La Cosa Nostra. Veasey went to confront Stanfa about it, Stanfa refused, and wanted John eliminated (it goes with the idea that you don't take money from the family, let alone the boss!). In other words, John got too big for his britches.

As for Billy Vaesey, the mob subculture is a small world, so maybe he got word that Stanfa was plotting to kill his brother (Billy was friends with Joey Merlino as a kid, so word probably gets around really fast).

stanza created a golem.
he made him burning a piece of paper instead of a proper holy card, because he never really cared/wanted to make veasey part of his lcn, just a errand boy.
Veasey was a feared hit man. Once he did what he was supposed to he was a goner anyhow.

things didn't go as planned by stanza tho.

I think I read somewhere Ralph Natale said he ordered the Billy Veasey hit, not Stanfa. Stanfa only tried to kill John.

Natale was "boss" after stanfa and it was during the end of Stanfas time as boss when this happened so that really doesnt make sense considering part of stanfas conviction was based on veasey

Ralph did give the ok for the hit. It came from the Merlino faction not the Stanfa faction.

By the way, not sure if it is true or not, but their has been talk that Billy Veasey convinced his brother to flip and then may have let people know that John was cooperating. Not sure. I know the extended family. A lot of them live in South Jersey.

Veasey's younger brother Dante got popped for a robbery in 2009. He just got out 6 or 7 months ago after serving around 4 years at Southern State in NJ.

Him and another guy robbed a woman and threw her out of a van. He's lucky they didn't hit him with kidnapping charges.
