ajournal.com has uploaded the first 2 episodes of 'Inside the American Mob' which premiered last week.

If you want to watch it, watch it now before it gets taken down as I'm sure once Nat Geo find out, they will have it removed.

Second episode here: http://iajournal.com/inside-the-american-mob-operation-donnie-brasco-part-2/

Honestly, I thought that nothing would impress me. But shit, those were some good docs. Great photos as well. Two of those photos of Columbo at the ralleys were with Meir Kahane, who was the founder of the Jewish Defense League and later in life held seats in the Israeli Kenesset.
Good stuff!

Anybody notice that they said Franceze was a cooperator in the doc? I know its known that he flipped at one point, but I don't think I have ever heard it said in a documentary.

Yeah I noticed that. I think he testified at a Senate hearing on gambling in sports, but I am not sure if he ever took the stand in a court room.

The other interesting speculation regarding Franzese is that he bought his way out of the mob. I forgot which law enforcement guy said it, but it could be why he has been left alone and lives out in the open on the west coast.

I hope he writes a book when his old man dies called "Murders My Father Told Me". You know his old man has told him some inside stuff.

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 04:05 AM

Ya i noticed that to but they didnt really get specific about how he was cooperating, like giving up names or specific info about people. Just that he testified infront of that committee. Not that what he did resulted in any1s arrest.
Posted By: vinnietoothpicks26

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 04:21 AM

Well notice Franceze never said it himself. He had another doc that came out about 6 months back in which they never mentioned his cooperation. I wonder if he knew that fed was going to out him like that on national tv or if he just assumed they wouldent say anything. Either way, hes probably not happy.
Anyways, the next one is about the 80's, looks like Scarfo?
Should be interesting, if those two docs are any indication then it looks like this new series brings something new to the table. Looking forward to it.

I think that was on tonight. Episode: "New York-Philly War"

Anyone catch it tonight? They usually repeat it a few times during the week.

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 04:37 AM

Haven't seen the doc.

When you guys state, co-operating, there's cooperating and co-operating.

Big diff between taking a plea and confessing to your crimes and ratting on others.

Any deets on how he was 'co-operating'?

Cheers.

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 04:47 AM

I wouldent have called him a cooperator if he had just pled out. The fed said he cooperated and got a reduction.

The ny philly one is on in 13 mins on nat geo. Im gonna watch it and ill let you know how it is.

Shit, where i am (east coast) it was on at midnight. Only 5 minutes left. The one on my cable at 1am is a repeat of the first episode, Staying Alive in the 70's according to my Comcast tv guide.

I'll just have to wait and watch it during the week when they repeat it..

Didn't he testify about his Russian Partners and about his involvement with a Al Sharpton, Don King and Danny Pagano in an fed undercover dope and money laundering case?

I agree. They also said Sony Franzese was a captain instead of an underboss. Also Scarfo was never a captain. He was a soldier who was banished to AC after the oregon diner incident. He became consigliere after bruno was killed and phil testa became boss

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 07:21 PM

In Pt. 2 Pistone said that Sonny Black told him to go kill Bruno Indelicato. Now I thought Bruno's, being one of gunman who killed Carmine Galante, stock had significantly risen after that and that he could, in effect, do no wrong at that time. So what's the deal with this? Is Pistone getting this mixed up, or was Bruno Indelicato going to be killed after the Galante hit?
Posted By: Dellacroce

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 07:25 PM

Im pretty sure there were gonna kill bruno because his dad sonny red was one of the three capos that got killed

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 07:36 PM

I think the shooters thought Bruno Indelicato was going to be at that meeting with his father and were going to kill him there. No?

But then Sonny Red brought Frank Lino instead. Wasn't Lino the one who escaped? Then they wanted to kill Bruno because they believed he would try to avenge his fathers murder. At least thats what i read about it.

But i think the plan always was if they hit Sonny Red then Bruno had to go too.

Thanks for the clarification.

So when did Bruno Indelicato bring Tommy Pitera in then?

Jesus christ fellas. "they called gallo a captain" and "they said sonny franchese was a captain". Cant you guys just enjoy the frigen thing? Has there ever been any proof that Gallo wasn't a captain beyond mere speculation? Furthermore, Franchese was a captain at some point, he didnt start out as underboss straight out of the womb.

Why didn't the FBI let Joe Pistone get made?? They say it's because it "wasn't in Joe's/ the Bureau's best interest but I think that's bullshit. I mean they put a $500,000 contract on Pistone anyway. I think they were scared of the Bonannos/ the Commission.

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 08:46 PM

I dont know. The story that they had planned about what they were going to do with Bruno was suspicious. They were just going to snatch him up and stage a hit? How were they going to just snatch him up without anything happening? What were they going to do? Send Bruno to Gitmo?

There is no doubt that Gallo never rose above the rank of soldire. Why not point that out when people do take docs seriously and are watching them not only for entertainment?

Crush, the docs are right about Sonny Franzese. He was a captain in the 1960s throughout the 1970s until demoted in the mid 1980s. It wasn´t until mid 00s he rose to become the underboss of the Family.

I think that because in order for him to have been made he'd have had to kill Indelicato or someone else. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it discussed at one time that Pistone should take part in the murder of Sonny Red and the other two capos?

Gitmo...lol! I agree with ya Vinnie. Exactly how would that have worked? The guy has the right to an attorney and you can't just make him disappear. Snatch up Bruno and then stage the hit? They would of had to do it within hours of picking up Bruno. You know they probably could keep him under wraps for a few hours, but i would think thats about it.

I have no idea on that one Iceman. I'm just saying when the decision was made to hit Sonny Red i think they determined that Bruno had to go too. If not with his father then asap afterwards.

Thats just my opinion though.

Re: ** Watch it here ** Inside the American Mob - 08/05/13 09:33 PM

Exactly Giancarlo. Alot of the stuff these guys are talking about happened a long time ago. That story always smelled like BS. I think what Joe doesn't want to admit is that he wanted to became a made guy because he liked being in the mob. Of course he wont say that.
Giancarlo, did you catch the philly doc? It was pretty solid.

Vinnie i watched it earlier today. Someone posted in the other thread the link to it online and i watched it. Nothing really new, but i thought the video and photos were pretty good.

Overall i thought it was a pretty good show.

Some quality photos and great video clips.

The best bit was right at the end of that reporter asking Fat Tony Salerno if he's got anything to say and Fat Tony replies 'Yeah, go fuck yourself' hahaha brilliant, never seen that before.

Hahaha that was funny as hell, I remember during the commission trial when a reporter asked Tony Ducks if he was sorry about allowing Perisco to be his own lawyer, since Perisco obviously hurt everyone with his defense, but after being asked Tony said " I aint sorry bout nuttin." Gangsters till the end.

Rare video footage of Galante in that documentary. It's annoying how they have to mute that video segment with him and the guy. Who's he talking to, anybody got any background on this?

I always heard the plan was for Bruno to be at that meeting too, but Sonny Red decided it would be too dangerous to have them all there in the same spot and brought Lino instead.

IIRC I read in a book (forget which) that Lino ran off to Neil Dellacroce for protection and he said something like "the next time you are supposed to be killed you stay and be killed" or something like that. I think it also took Lino a good week or two to come back around because he thought he was for sure on the hit list.

Didn't Lino eventually turn fed?
