Hi everybody! As a great fan of crime movies and crime novels I'm writing to you with a request...I see you guys have enormous knowledge about the American Italian Mafia and I hope you can help me out. I am writing my Master Thesis and I need to describe the greatest crimes performed by the Cosa Nostra. I've already described the "Lufthansa Heist" known from "Goodfellas". Could you think of any other great crimes? Hope you can give me some clues I really count on your experience!

The bootlegin and sugar business,Gambinos food stamp racket,Frank Costellos slot machines,Giancanas numbers rackets,Jimmy Hoffa,the Vegas skimming,Lucianos and Bonnanos drug business(the french connection and the connection with Sicily),Atlantic city,Havana,famous boxing and other sport matches engineered by the Genovese and the Lucchese fams,the murders on many key informants(Kid Twist for example) and many many many more crimes.These are some of the skims that the mob got away with it(or at least almost) generated billions of cash for years to come for the mob.

The Pizza Connection,over 1 bilion from 1975 to 1985 selling heroin.The Las Vegas Skimming.The Gallo-Profaci war;the Nardi/Greene war to the Cleveland Mafia;the 21 months trial to the Lucchese crime family's jersey crew ;the Third Colombo war;the Montreal gangland war etc etc only for indicate the most original.

Involvement in the killing of the Hypocrite Kennedy. The Outfit guys absolutely hated him and his brother. Tampa & New Orleans were also involved along with the most powerful Mafia group in America, the C.I.A.

Lufthansa was a one time robbery by a small group, led by associate James Burke. It would not necessarily be categorized as LCN crime, although I am sure they got a cut. Biggest crime money wise I think would be the gasoline tax skimming run by Michael Franzese. There is a lot of information available on it too.

I would have to say it's failure to pay taxes on their income. LCN as a whole probably owes tens of billions in federal and state income taxes.

jfk? when was that proved the mob killed him? the gas , robberies ect are scams that ended, i would say controlling just about every union. ports..these have been going on until today , for decades ..

There's no question that the Mafia has pulled off some major criminal feats,but the JFK hit isn't one of them. When you separate speculation,rumor,and egocentric ramblings from actual evidence,nothing of any credibility remains.

In fifty years,not one rat has supplied any proof,not one second of incriminating info has been captured on tape,and not one individual has come forward with any concrete evidence,even though to do so would result in a virtual free pass for any crime that any such individual might have committed. In addition,the money to be made from books, movies,etc. would be staggering.

And no,he wouldn't be killed. Given the murder of Oswald, there is no way that the public will stand for the mysterious death of another real suspect.Any Mob guy with real evidence of OC involvement in the JFK murder would be under worldwide scrutiny and untouchable.

Unions.you can control a lot of different aspects of the country if you control unions. No show jobs, family hookups with top paying jobs help political party's with union backed votes. And for the most part once they get control it don't end. Most other heists end

They didn't steal the windows, they upped the fee charging 2 dollars more a window, if I am correct they did it on the installation but made it look like the manufacture had increased their price. They had again if I am correct someone in the housing authority and were able to outbid their competitors. It's part of Mafia history the Arista windows case.
