What information does anyone have on him? When was he made? Whose crew did he come up in? Why do you think he was selected?

Re: Thomas (Tommy D) DiFiore - 06/13/13 03:38 PM
Tommy D was in Phil Lucky's crew before he got kicked out in '79 for feuding with another crew member that got him in hot water with Phil. Once Phil was whacked out two years later, Tommy D rose up to captain his own crew and has been in that role ever since. He most recently served on the ruling committee with Rabito and Asaro. He got busted for extortion in 2001 but other than that he has kept his nose fairly clean.
In his book, Frankie Saggio doesn't have a lot of kind words for him or his son but it probably has more to do with killing Phil Lucky.

I don't understand why people are not making a bigger deal of this. Based upon his ascension to Boss, I am going to assume that Chilli and Indelicado (when he gets out) will have a lot more sway. I'm not sure what this means for the Rabito/Graziano/Santoro group, but I assume that Rabito signed on to this. The same goes for the Asaro/Zip group in the family.
I genuinely think we have reached a new age for the NY mob. Gone are the days of open-street hits and mass murders of faction leaders resulting from internicide war. People understand that bodies bring attention now and I believe that the families will once again prosper.
Thoughts?

He says that law enforcement officials suspect he's only acting for Mancuso but that alot can change in 6 years.

Over the past decade or so the mob has had to adjust, the decline in the number of hits is a part of that. It's weird though, I mean there is still hundreds of members in all the families and then thousands of associates and you hardly ever hear about killings anymore. They will always happen sure, but you feel they will continue to be years apart in the and even more so in the future.

Yes, Capeci says he is the acting boss but, like Vinny TV, is viewed by some law enforcement officials as a caretaker for Mancuso, who is due out in 2019.

Skinny: Who do you think will fill out the administration if Mancuso/DiFiore are actually at the helm?

Re: Thomas (Tommy D) DiFiore - 06/13/13 09:21 PM
Bonannos are a clusterfuck. Mancuso considers himself the bos bc vinny b picked him. He was on the streets as boss for like 3 months. Difiore is about as much as boss material as TV was.
Zips and asaro crews are different. Zips is sal the baker

Re: Thomas (Tommy D) DiFiore - 06/13/13 09:30 PM
What I want to know is why the Bonnanos on the street seem to think Mikey Nose should lead them in the future, he only had a very short run as acting boss so why do they want him in a official capacity to be boss in the years to come when I'm sure there are many other capable people on the street right now who could take the helm like Cefalu and Crea have done?

Where do Jerry get this infor from,is DiFiore the sole acting boss or on the ruling panel? Is Sal the baker retired after 25 years in the can.

Re: Thomas (Tommy D) DiFiore - 06/14/13 04:04 PM
Mikey Nose was underboss for Vinny for a period of time, and what Skinny said about him feeling entitled because of it is definitely true, but.. He's one of the only people in that family who even wants the top tier position so they may just let him have it,and that entire Bronx wing despite being tiny and mostly in jail now, has allot of influence and is tough people

Previously, Capeci reported that DiFiore was on the ruling panel with Anthony Rabito and Vincent Asaro. Now it appears DiFiore has been singled out as the acting boss.

What do you mean chilli and indelicato will have more sway? Sway as in people will sway towards them to be boss instead of DiFiore?

Re: Thomas (Tommy D) DiFiore - 06/14/13 07:29 PM
No, as in more input in Family afairs. As I understand it, DiFiore was in a crew belonging to one of the 3 capos that were aligned against Rusty. Another one of those 3 capos was Sonny Red (Bruno's father). Chilli was also aligned with the three capos for a time, though I am not sure whose crew he was in.
This stands in stark contrast to Rabito/TG/Santoro who were aligned with Rusty/Massino/Sonny Black.
I don't really know how much of a role this historical divide plays today being that Rusty and Sonny Black are dead and Massino flipped, but it is worth noting.

Re: Thomas (Tommy D) DiFiore - 06/14/13 07:39 PM
DiFiore had a falling out with Phil Lucky and left his crew so I would imagine there was bad blood between them.
Jerry Chilli was in Sonny Red's crew, I believe.
I think the three capos situation is so old that it no longer divides the family as much as it did thirty years ago. Hell, even Bruno put it behind him as "just business" and his pops was one of the guys killed.
