I still wonder what would have happened to the family if Fidel Castro had Trafficante executed (still don't understand why he hadn't done that)

Trafficante gave him money to let him go. IMO he was more valuable alive to Castro. There is also some evidence to suggest that Trafficante made a deal with Castro to supply him with information on anti-Castro activities in Miami.
